This restaurant, located in Park Ridge offers Turkish cuisine in a friendly, homey atmosphere. My daughter, a vegetarian introduced me to this restaurant during one of her stop- overs from Northern California last year and I've been back numerous times as I just love this food. If you like Greek, or Middle Eastern food this homey little restaurant won't disappoint. If it's your first visit and you love meat try the Uskuda, lamb cubes sauteed wit onions, tomatoes, red and green peppers and garlic, wrapped with sliced eggplant and tomato sauce with your choice of white rice or bulgur. Skip the white rice and go for the bulgar. It's great. For the vegetarians my daughter recommends the Falafel special that includes falafel, hummus, baba Ganesh and a green salad. For an appetizer, definitely don't miss the Zucchini Pancake or homemade spinach pie.
I'm Turkish so I tried out a lot of the Turkish/Mediterranean places around Chicago. I'd say Cafe Orchid is one of the best in town especially when you consider the price and service you get. Very friendly staff and very consistent food.
