I love this restaurant! The best small plates you can get around. It makes me feel like I’m in New Orleans and the open air seating in the middle of the restaurant is amazing. To be honest though there’s no bad seat in the house. The service is spectacular, the food is delicious and the vibes are immaculate. No reason not to drop by.
I’ve never been to New Orleans before but it sure feels like it after hanging out here!! Definitely a popular place in the area so be ready for a wait. Bar is open seating though where we tried the staple Nola Hurricane (very strong 👀). There’s multiple seating locations which almost adds to the fun and ambiance. When we were sat we found out, they got pitchers baby!!! We definitely obliged… twice. After some good drinks we ordered some food, I got the chicken and waffles and it’s exactly what you want in this dish. Fried chicken perfectly with no to minimal bone to then lay on top of the waffles. This place is a must. I’ll definitely be bringing friends and family here in the future.
Oysters,.Cajun fries, Skirt steak were great. Cajun fries had big kick to them. Both the fried and the raw oysters were good. We came at 4:30 on a Friday and were able to get a table for ten easily
I really liked this place. We come here for many different occasions both at night, afternoon and brunch. It is always a pleasant surprise. Fast service with tasty food. We will visit here again.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with about a 10 minute wait and got seated inside on their patio!
Good:
The aesthetic is so cute! It’s like a slice of Europe inside of a restaurant.
The service here is super super fast since you place orders online and they come 5-10 min later. It’s crazy how fast it goes.
Portion sizes here are insane too - the fried chicken was gigantic! I really liked the jambalaya as well and the Mac and cheese appetizer. The beignets were super warm and toasty. I also was a fan of the bbq shrimp and grits.
Bad:
I thought the only bad thing here was that reception wasn’t that good inside the restaurant.
Otherwise, would come again! Reasonable prices and a good boozy brunch option.
I’ve been dying to try Nola for a long time, and I have to say that my biggest regret is not going sooner!
As someone who spent time living in the South, and who has a deep love of New Orleans, I had certain expectations when I came to Nola for the first time. What I did not expect was the ambiance and the setting to really reflect the crescent city in such an authentic way. Sure, there’s a little kitsch, but in some ways that’s what makes it feel real. Sitting in the courtyard was almost a direct parallel to a restaurant I had eaten at a few years ago in the French Quarter.
Beyond the setting, I settled in for some basics: gumbo and po boys. The crawfish gumbo really hit, and it satisfied the southern comfort food craving. My husband and I got the blackened salmon and the Bang Bang Shrimp po boys -and both were out of this world. They seem simple, but it’s the nuanced flavors that make them feel authentic. It was like being back on Bourbon St, for real!
The cocktails too were excellent! The hurricane had this really beautiful maple-y undertone that I really loved, and the violet hour cocktail was dangerously delicious. Highly recommend both!
My only note is that, like with many businesses, Covid has disjointed the ‘southern charm’ from the service a little bit. It’s a shame because there were so many delicious sounding options on the menu, we could have used a guide to weigh in on favorite dishes, and make recommendations, things like that. This is not really a criticism (5 stars either way!) so much as a note to help other guests set their expectations surrounding service as the business adapts and protects employees from Covid.
Looking for New Orleans food, Nola is the place for you. I had amazing time with my friends, food was really good. Ambience is very chill & relaxing. We went late Saturday afternoon on rainy day, it was not crowded. Definitely would go back.
