Nice and cozy with few tables for inside for seating. Quaint also in the sense that they do not accept cards to keep the cost reasonable. I enjoyed our visit. Was busy the whole time we were there for breakfast with a few people waiting for an open table. The staff was super friendly and we got our food quickly. Love the open kitchen so you can see exactly how and where your food is being made.
This place accepts cash or check ONLY!! This is why I have it 4 stars rather than 5. I did not know this until we were eating and luckily we had just enough cash on us to cover the meal. I am a credit card person who doesn’t carry that much cash with me. There was no sign on the door that it was a cash only place. I noticed a tiny sign on top on the cash register after we started eating.
Now onto the food. Food was good. Prices are GREAT. You get a decent amount of food with your order. Coffee was okay. Standard restaurant quality. It’s a small place with indoor and outdoor seating. We drove 18 miles to eat here and were very happy with our order. The staff were friendly and wonderful. I ordered a cinnamon roll to go and once I got home I ate it and it was the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. They make their pastries AND bread in house.
Worth the drive if you are with in a hour from this cute little restaurant.
This was a such a nice place to have breakfast. The prices are really great for starters. The tables are close together, and we ended up chatting with our neighbors a bit. Really welcoming atmosphere with great food. We really liked how all the regulars have dishes named after them, and their own coffee mugs. Looking forward to going back next time we are in town.
Good food and menu selection, great service. Small, local business and staff that knows what customer service is about!
If you’re looking for a full hearted American breakfast, you found it. This little slice of granny’s kitchen is exactly what you need to top off the serenity of this part of the coast!
Can really taste the love of not only the owners / employees but the town as a whole.
10/10 will go out of our way to come here again
Was the closest thing to a mom and pop diner we’ve found, felt like back home in Michigan
If you’re in pacific city don’t even bother looking for somewhere else for breakfast. This is the best option hands down. Great service. Cute atmosphere. Amazing food everytime. Fast service. Those girls are constantly moving and taking care of everyone. This restaurant feels very home-y and peaceful. Open super early too. I recommend getting here close to opening time since this place is so quality it gets pretty busy as the morning goes on. But it’s so worth it
We were looking for a good breakfast spot in Pacific City and this place had pretty good reviews. All in all, it was definitely tasty but kind of a weird atmosphere. It is setup almost like someones dining room. It's a very homey atmosphere and the hot food (as well as the wide variety baked goods were all delicious).
We split a raspberry Danish to start and then I got Spinach, Bacon, and Cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. My girlfriend got scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon. Everything was really good. The omelet was perfectly fluffy and the biscuit came with great whipped butter. I would definitely recommend getting that as your "bread".
Village COFFEE shoppe loses points for subpar coffee. It was very watered down and I ended up getting coffee from the gas station across the street.
PRO TIP: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. And there is no ATM. Be sure to stop somewhere to get cash first. No Venmo or PayPal either.
All in all, this was a good breakfast and I liked that we were eating amongst locals as opposed to the yuppies on vacation. With that said, I wish we had tried somewhere else.
This tiny cafe was really amazing, I fell in love with it. I ordered chicken tacos, an oatmeal bowl and biscuits and gravy. All the food was hearty and delicious with large portions and extremely value for money. The servers were so warm and friendly. I definitely recommend visiting here instead of some of the other larger establishments in the vicinity.
If you're tired of the narcissistic Instagram-able foodie scene and you wish to have your faith restored in humanity, this is your place. Village Coffee Shoppe oozes kindness and authenticity in the way the food is prepared and in the manner with which service is given. Reasonable prices, generous portions, and home made wholesome food. The bottle of cinnamon sugar at the table along with a half dozen other condiments warmed my heart to the core. But the part that touched the innermost regions of my soul is when I approached the register to settle the bill and noticed the sign indicating they're a cash only joint. Before I could even utter the sentence "where is the nearest ATM?", a kindly regular patron quietly stepped up next to me and laid down the cash for our bill without a word or a blink. As I stood speechless at this random act of kindness, the server said, "yup, happens a lot here. Just pay it forward one day". In honour of that good soul and all the good souls present at VCS, a donation will be made to the food bank of our home city.
They were able to take on our party of 10. We did have a little bit of a wait which was understandable. Was a very busy day for them but they were extremely polite nonetheless. The food was good. Nice folks.
