On a recent vacation in Branson, MO, we stopped by Lambert's in Ozark for lunch. It wasn't our first visit at Lambert's, and like our previous visits - this one did not disappoint. We came expecting a delicious southern cooked meal and genuine hospitality, and that's what we got. Their novel hallmark of tossing fresh rolls to you across the dining room is still practiced, and certain all-you-can-eat sides are brought to your table in abundance as desired. The fried catfish was cooked perfectly, and the greens and sweet potatoes were very savory. They don't take reservations, but they do offer call ahead seating. It is worth the wait.

Lambert's is a classic in this area. Go at least once for the experience of catching those hot rolls. You can even order the rolls to go. I usually order the hog jowl. It is like a thicker and saltier version of bacon. We also had the peach cobbler and the fried pork chops. O like their sweet potato fries. Even cold, the food is good for later when you are eating your leftovers. The two of us spent about $50. It is fun to see all the different metal signs and decor as well. They are usually busy, so come early.

Loved eating here! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food that you get which is a lot. Our meals came with sides plus staff walks around with various other sides that they will offer for free. The throwing of the rolls was the best part though, it made the whole experience more fun.

It’s always a long wait to get into Lambert’s. We were told it would be an hour and a half but they got us in after an hour, so it was a shorter wait and shorter than other visits. The food is great, especially the rolls and sorghum. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was listening to one of our children say she did not want a kid’s meal because she did not want sides. I said she didn’t have to eat the sides, and ultimately ordered sides someone else at the table would eat. After the waitress left, I regretted not asking if there was a way to keep the sides from touching the chicken because the child would not eat the chicken if it was touching. However, when the waitress brought the food she stated she had them put the sides in separate small bowls so that the other people at the table could have them if they wanted because she had heard the child didn’t want them. She was attentive to drink refills, and made sure we had everything we needed.

Fantastic service food and fun. I had the chicken fried steak and it was MASSIVE. It was one of the best that I have ever had wife had meatloaf and it was incredible. This is a must stop and get this they throw you rolls and come by with food like fried potatoes and black eyed peas

First time experiencing the rolls being literally thrown at you from across the room. It was an experience to have though. The food was great and they do mean you won't leave hungry with all the side dishes they walk by with to serve you. Not to include your meal with 2 side dishes but they walked buy with some fried potatoes, stewed tomato and noodles, fried ocra, and more. The throwing rolls was fun, its not as crazy as it seems. You will enjoy the experience along with the food.

First time eating at Lambert's. It was delicious! I probably brought home enough food for two more meals! I got the chicken fried steak, it was fork tender. The staff make sure you have enough fixings. They throw the hot rolls, which is fun, if you can catch them. You will not leave hungry and you will want a leftover container. The staff are so wonderful! The price is very reasonable for the amount you get.

This place is truly an experience. You will be well fed! So come very hungry. For the mass quantities of food that they put out, the quality is truly impressive. Plan yo wait at least an hour, even on a weekday. This is a very popular restaurant but for good reason. Even if you don’t like country cookin, this is still a very fun experience, that you have to try. All of the normal amenities appear to be back, post covid restrictions.

I guess Lambert’s is a destination restaurant because it is the “Home of the Throwded Roll”. The food is okay and there is plenty of it. But, there is food as good or better elsewhere. My wife and I ate dinner at Lambert’s today. I had their chicken pot pie and my wife had the chicken and dumplings. We both have had better at less cost. The service as you would expect was excellent. Lambert’s doesn’t take credit cards. That seems ridiculous this day and age.

The portions are huge. I like the bread. It's soft and hot. I enjoyed it with butter. I like that they have complimentary sides like fried okra, potato etc. I was a bit dis appointed with my steak. It lucks the flavor, not juicy and a bit rubbery. My friends rib needs more time and does not fall off from the bone. It's unique and enjoyable experience but the quality of the food has to improve.

Fun place with ridiculous portions of bland food. To be fair, thrown rolls were delicious! We had chicken tenders and the open face pot roast sandwich.

Such a long wait, but it turned out to be well worth it. The server was decent. It took a while for the "throwed" rolls to come around--but only because they're so incredibly delicious that EVERYBODY wants more than one. I did not like that we had to wait for our meal to come before we could get any of the pass around stuff. That seems like it should be an appetizer situation. The kids loved it though. My pork loin was excellent; the wife's hamburger steak was a bit dry. Oh, and the pineapple walnut salad is a pistachio pudding type dessert not a bowl of vegetables. Disappointed in that one.

Go big or go home! Big portions, Big laughter, Big trucker drink cups, big rolls and Big Family Fun. The food is ok, it's like dining at your local greasy spoon but on a Grander scale. The atmosphere of the place is top notch and my kids have a blast here and I rank that high. Hard working staff here

I think they should have Lipitor in the mint dish as you leave. If you want overpriced greasy food, this is the place! I do have to admit the okra and fried potatoes are really good, but you will pay for it the next day... Oh and be prepared to wait in line on the weekend with all the tourists.

I'm not sure what to say. I suppose because Lambert's has been on my list of places to visit for years, perhaps my expectations were too high? The food was mediocre at best. There seemed to be two flavor options no matter which item I bit into, bland or salty. My wife, who had no expectations at all, felt the same way. The service was as bland as the food, not bad, but not good either. We waited 45 minutes in the humid Missouri summer heat for overpriced salt lick. What a disappointment.

You can't go to a spot like Lambert's and complain because there aren't any "healthy" options. That's like going to a steak house and complaining about the lack of vegetarian options. You come to Lambert's for old style home cooking and plenty of it. You want to leave stuffed and satisfied. That's why you go to Lambert's.

This was the worst meal we have experienced. The main taste was salt, and a lot of it, except for those items that had no taste at all. The rolls and fried okra were the exceptions. The atmosphere was much better at the eastern Missouri location. Ridiculously overpriced for the quality of food. Server did the best he could.

4 G's of Dining. Lambert's has set the 4G's of Dining: Great People,Great food, Great service & Great atmosphere.I hope it is as fun a place to work as the attitude you got from all the servers. Pass-a rounds came before the drinks, and were available throughout our meal. IF you could eat any more.I'm just glad I'm not driving home after eating. Hmmm,
maybe hammocks in the back parking lot would be a good addition.

Decent Food, Decent Prices, Ridiculous Wait. I've tried several different meals and most of them are really good. The prices aren't too bad for how much you get, and if you finish you can get seconds. The pass-arounds are good (especially the throwed rolls), but you aren't allowed to get some of them until your food has arrived, and there's no guarantee you'll ever see the person carrying the pass-around you want again. However, if you go during peak hours be prepared to wait several hours.

Death trap. Every single item on the menu is either deep fried or drowned in butter. If you go here hoping to find something remotely healthy on the menu, you will be severely disappointed. Even the vegetables are so drenched in sugar or butter that they no longer have any nutritional value. It's really no wonder that most of the people seen eating here are obese.

Delicious and Filling. We walked right in of course we were there at an off time. We were greeted and even given a window seat we asked for when that side was technically closed, the young lady who greeted us sat us and waited on us. They made sure everyone came around and offered us sides so we weren't left out. I was impressed we had great service this day the young ladies name started with a B and was a different name very nice young lady. I had the shrimp it was very delicious the yams were a bit sweet but good and the baked beans wonderful. I will be back :)

The food is gross. The only tastey thing are the okra and the rolls. Nothing special by any stretch, don't be fooled by the lines. Many people are clearly there for the novelty of the rolls (being thrown) and shear desperation for a ginormous serving for an $8-$12 price.

I usually love this place, but was so disappointed tonight when we went. They broke up our party without asking. The table next to us immediately emptied which was for 8 with room for our 8 plus our high chair. We asked if we could have it and they said mo if we wanted to sit together we would have to go all the way back outside ( we have a baby and my 87 year old mother who walks with a cane)

I had the chicken and dumplings with a side of potato salad and candies yams. The potato salad tastes like it came from the store, but wasn't bad, and the yams were good. The chicken and dumplings were very bland and was just chicken, dumpling, and chicken broth so not very imaginative. The restaurant was very loud and had a very young staff and took forever to get service and refills. We had to yell at each other just to talk, compounded by how loud the place was this became very old very quick. All in all it's a creative layout and idea and can understand how it is a local hangout.

I live nearby and see huge lines here almost daily. I'm not an "all you can eat" person but finally gave in & gave this place a go. We chose a Tuesday night & were there by 6pm. No wait. Everything they serve came from a can, no sharing, no exceptions, no credit cards. Ok, I see how they make money. I ordered a chicken fried steak, it hung over the plate (gross) and was cooked in what I assume was old grease because it was the only thing I could taste. The rolls were great as was the fried okra. I made my meal out of those 2 things. This place is a heart attack on a plate. Never again.

Go there for atmosphere, not food. I've been here probably 6 times.. Lets be honest, you wait in line an hour for the atmosphere and "throwed rolls", not the food. It's fun and the wait staff is nice but the food is nothing to write home about. They get your food fast and rush you out pretty quick... and be prepared they dont take credit/debit cards which is ridiculous in 2012. Easy solution is to raise prices 1% to cover their cost, this would be a great convenience to their customers. Oh they have an ATM if you forgot, which I'm sure they make money on too.

Grew up eating here as a kid and continue to go back now as an adult! You go expecting a wait. There's a large antique place and a few other shops to browse behind the restaurant while you wait. So much food and very cheap prices. Only negative thing is they don't take debit cards. So plan ahead with cash or check! Wonderful place and wonderful food!

This place is a great place to go if you have a BIG stomach. The serving sizes are beyond generous, plus you get the "pass grounds" and throwed rolls. However, I don't particularly like that they'll charge you $8.99 if you wanna share one dish. Kind of expensive, but you get more than enough food for your money.

Not worth it!. Within 30 seconds of getting out of my car I've got a guy trying to bully me into buying a time share with some company. He had a booth set up on the Lamberts porch so I blame them for letting these people harass their customers. The food was kind of bland but not completely terrible. Getting rolls thrown at me was kind of fun too. The worst part was sitting in a booth facing some morbidly obese people dumping cottage cheese down their gullets! The place was a little bit dirty but not enough to be a deal breaker. I will not being going back here as there are alot better places in the area.

Too Civilized Now:(. When they first opened in Ozark it was a real nice place where locals would eat, but have gotten to civilized for me. Nothing country. Their is nothing bad about being a hillbilly. Now, a Hickabilly, that is a drunk hillbilly and well, that is bad. NOT all hillbillies are bad. Go back to you're roots. Food is still awesome though. That is about the only GOOD thing about Lambert's now:(. It's too bad because there are real nice people running the place.

Never again. Ever.. This is just a tourist trap. They have a whole team of relentless sales people stationed in the waiting area so we began our afternoon waiting for our table while fighting off salesmen trying to sell us a timeshare.

We asked for menus to look over while waiting and noticed that they do not accept debit/credit cards, just checks and cash. This is the 21st century, who carries a checkbook with them anymore? Lucky for us they have an ATM on site so they can charge you an ATM fee. Had we not been hungry and also had a very hungry pregnant woman in our party we would have gone elsewhere just because of the ATM.

We were seated after a reasonable wait, the server took our drink orders and we tried to order a plate of wings as an appetizer because we were starving and hadn't decided what we wanted our entrees to be yet. Nope - can't do that - NO SHARING PLATES. At. All. Even if each of us is going to order an entree? Nope. Our server then explains that they don't want a group coming in and sharing one plate, then eating tons of rolls and other sides that they pass out for free. Fine. Whatever, we're going to need a minute to figure out our order.

We didn't see our server again for nearly fifteen minutes, all the while there are twelve - TWELVE - employees just standing by the kitchen talking, and the restaurant was packed. We did manage to get a couple of rolls and fried okra, however, because we didn't have our plates yet we couldn't get any of the other food that they're walking around with and heaping on other diners' plates. Just as we were about to get up and leave our server finally made an appearance again.

To be fair, once our order was placed the food came out quickly, but we learned why with just a couple of bites. Everything comes from a can. The peaches are the exact same canned ones I used to get in my high school cafeteria, as were the fried apples. The chicken salad was meh, the shrimp was okayish. The fried potatoes were mush, the macaroni and tomatoes was mush. The wings were nothing but battered and deep-fried chicken bones with only scraps of meat on them.

While the rolls were good, that just is not enough of a redeeming factor considering all the nonsensical rules, refusal to accept debit/credit, and lack of any other food that is actually worth what they are charging for it.

I think what the real kicker is that the owners have put all these ridiculous rules in place for fear of being ripped off, however, they're busy ripping people off by not accepting debit/credit because they KNOW that few people in this day and age carry a checkbook or cash and are happily pocketing at least a percentage of that ATM fee.

Went at 10:45am walked right in and sat down, no wait whatsoever. Most of the Food was Okay, but the meatloaf was pretty good and the hot rolls with molasses was great. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a box, corn was way to creamy but the fried apples were okay. Very cool atmosphere and the servers are super nice! Pretty pricey in my opinion can't even share a plate and walk out for under 25$. To me, it's a one time stop for me unless we take someone else who hasn't been.

We waited and waited.... And finally got in. The background music is like fingernails across a chalkboard. Waitress was nice, food was O.K. Most of our group liked it. We arrived on a Tuesday about 6:00 but when we left (about 7:45) there were people EVERYWHERE waiting to get in. It's good. Mostly an experience. Food is average but you get plenty of it. I've been several times and still haven't found a main dish that wowed me. I do like their fried potatoes though. We will wait for 20 or 30 min, if they are busier than that we pass. I will say the bigger your group the more fun it will be. Holy clogged arteries, Batman... This is real southern food being lobbed at you relentlessly with a heapin' helping of indigestion but I regret nothing! For the full soul food experience try the hog jowls with white beans and turnip greens. Leave plenty of room for rolls doused in molasses. Also, sweet tea is mandatory. Check out the wine shop next door while you whittle away your 45-120 minute wait for a table.

Go for the experience...and the rolls!. The warm rolls tossed at you, with the sorgum, are awesome! The food is a little pricey, but the portions are ridiculously large. Our hotel clerk advised us to skip breakfast and get there when they open at 10:30 am. People were already lining up. Oh, be sure to have cash. We loved the novelty of it but probably won't need to stop again because of the cost, the wait, and the food isn't really our style.

No booze. The rolls are great but the rest of the food is terrible. The food is average and mass produced and it sure tastes like they've cooked for hundreds. A tasty, belly bulging deep fried dinner is what awaits you at Lambert's Cafe. Friendly hosts and servers continually offer you free side dishes, and their trademark thrown rolls. A wide variety of choices will sastify the pickiest carnivore, but vegetarians and dieters beware, here it's all greasy, fattening, juicy meat. Throwed Rolls. It should be noted before all else that this restaurant is an "experience" - the atmosphere is half the fun. Normally, restaurants like this that focus on sheer quantity of food are lacking in the quality department. I was pleased to find this untrue at Lambert's. My pulled pork sandwich was really good by any standards, as was the fried chicken. Most of the sides were good (though some were unfortunately bland) - and the atmosphere is lively and fun. The "throwed rolls" are great, too! I left so stuffed that I wouldn't want to go back on a regular basis, but once in a while would be ok!

I have only eaten here once but it made an impression! The food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Heads Up!. Watch your head! If you've never been here before, your in for a treat... Very 'Country Style' food, atmosphere and service. But, watch your head because every few minutes someone walks out the kitchen with a cart full of large steaming hot rolls and literally throws them across the room at you! Great fun for family, but if you have more than, say, 10, you'll have to split up. If you finish your entree, they bring you another one (at your request) The wait can be 2 hrs or more, depending on the time. Avoid ~11-3 on Sundays, you'll be waiting even longer. Stop by on your birthday and you get your meal paid for!
