Kampai By Daikoku

When it comes down to basics, Kampai serves delicious food with pretty friendly customer service in a fun, unique environment. Nonetheless, there were a couple things I found issue with. If you come during certain early-ish hours, I want to say around 3-6pm on weekdays and 3-5pm on weekends, they offer most of their dinner specials (which include a small soup, salad, and bowl of rice in addition to the main dish) for cheaper. As we came in on a Saturday at 6:15pm, we had to pay the more expensive price for the specials - which is, in my opinion, overpriced. There is nothing wrong with the food: I enjoyed my meal and found everything flavorful, fresh, cooked well, and delicious, but it's just not worth the $25+ price tag to me. The Tepan cooking style is fun, exciting and certainly something cool to experience, but I get the feeling that that is mainly what you pay so much for. Our waitress seemed genuinely kind and helpful, and the cook we had was friendly too He was definitely very skilled and even told us a couple of the ingredients in their famous white sauce (which they are normally very secretive about); on the other hand, the hostess who sat us seemed very short and rude and some of the other waiters were on the rude side too. You might just need to get lucky with your servers, which shouldn't be the case at any restaurant. The meal left me with a wonderful taste in my mouth, without a doubt, but the check at the end did not. They also enforce an 18% gratuity on groups of 6 or more, so keep that in mind in you're going there with a larger number of people like we did. In the end, I didn't mind coming here once for a family member's birthday, but I don't think I would come back again for my own.

The restaurant is good and the food is delicious! but i've worked there as a hostess recently for 4 months. Behind those kitchens, lyes a bunch of dark secrets. I quit because the manager discriminated against me and has put me down. i couldn't take it any longer, so i quit, i spoke for myself. The owner does tax fraud, because my check would always say i have 10 dependents, but i don't even have kids? it's a smart way for the restaurant to get more money. Also there is illegal's working there (the cheffs) all of them, how do i know? of course they told me and everyone who works there knows. The servers and the manager talks rudely about the customers behind their backs! pathetic. They put me to work on friday nights until 11 pm! and that's against the law because im 17! i shouldn't be working after 10 at the night, at all! Their customer service is horrible! They are rude to customers and when they dont get tips they talk about the customers economically. I will be honest and cordial about their food, it's absolutely delicious, no lie. But, their customer service and the restaurant is corrupt. I would totally take this to court but i will not waste my time and money for their selfish, greedy, racist, con, asses! And there is underage drinking there, workers under the influence while working, and even more corrupt things that happen there.
