Where have I been in the last 4 years! Located less than 3 minutes from my home this gem of a restaurant is amazing. You would never guess by the outside how large and elegant this restaurant is. Not by any stretch of the imagination can you say this is "typical" for Oswego. We have most of the large franchise restaurants within 5-10 minutes on either Rt. 34 or Orchard Rd. We even have a few family owned restaurants that have been around for decades that are fine. With today's farm to table trend, this is only the 3rd restaurant that I have come across that has fresh ingredients, creative menu and great presentation. We ordered appetizers and side dishes. Fell in love with the mushrooms...they are fabulous! All of the dishes we had were way above average. The desserts we took home were amazing! The staff was friendly, attentive and answered all our questions. A true hidden gem in Oswego!
We had a wonderful meal and experience at the Tuscan Tavern. I called to reserve for a group of 25 just a few days before our dinner. The owner of the restaurant took great care to plan a fantastic meal for us. He was very accommodating and easy to work with. The multiple courses of our (each course included several dishes) were served family-style to help ensure excellent and timely service. The staff were carefully attentive to various dietary restriction (vegan, gluten free, etc) and there were plenty of options for all. The food was absolutely delicious, and the price was very reasonable. The ambience was cozy and and yet still elegant. Our group was really impressed with the service, food, and value. We would definitely return, and recommend it for a cozy dinner or large group.
The restaurant is amazing! There are fresh roses at every table. The atmosphere isn't so quiet that you can't have a fun conversation but it's also not nearly as noisy as T.G.I. Friday's or something similar. The food portions were definitely worth the price and the wine selection was incredible. My one issue was with the service. We only saw our waitress twice. When she took our food order and when she brought the check. It's hard to tip someone when they didn't bring the drinks, bring the food or clear our dishes. If we had any issues in between, it was up to us to resolve them.
I would absolutely recommend the Tuscan Tavern for a nice dinner out.
Hard to really rate this place. My family enjoyed Tuscan Tavern. Our server was polite and saw to our needs. Everything he said about the food and everything on the menu seemed great. We started off with two appetizer specials of Shrimp and Oysters. They Shrimp and oysters were each on a bed of french fries served with a dipping sauce. The shrimps' breading seemed like these were frozen from a box, but the shrimp themselves were fresh tasting, very very odd. The dipping sauce seemed like a flavored ketchup. It's really odd to me serving fries with an appetizer.
The main courses were a lot better, the tomatoes on my salad were very fresh. My wife's chicken had that same breading that the shrimp had, almost like over cooked, nearly burnt bread crumbs. This place was okay in my book.
Let me start by saying the food is totally amazing. The reason that I didn't give 5 full stars is that the wait here can be obnoxious. We went on a Wednesday evening, it wasn't busy. It took almost an hour to just get bread. Which if your not in a rush that is okay, but I have 2 small kids. We ordered our meals at 6:30pm and didn't get our meal till 8:30pm. Seemed crazy. They did make it right by not charging for a ton of beer and our soups. We have gone a few times with and without kids, like I said the food is well worth the wait!
Always a slam dunk! We have been to Tuscan Tavern many times! The waiter is always on top of things and very polite! He knows the menu very well and the food is always freshly made and delicious. This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat.
