We had Chicken Especiale and Perch for take out. All 4 meals were outstanding! The chicken was cooked to perfection as was the perch. Let's not forget the Millennium soup. Yumm!! Excellent meal! Love this place.

Great atmosphere and a welcoming staff make you feel appreciated for choosing their restaurant. The food we ordered was delicious. One of the food items we got was the hot, spicy chicken wings. They were exactly that and also had a nice crunch to them. If you like your wings hot and spicy, give those appetizers a go. You won’t be disappointed!

While only able to provide take-out, the food was great - especially for the price. Cheesy potato risotto was terrific. Well worth it.

Awesome food was wonderful. Kat was a great waitress.

WOW! Who would have thought such a fantastic eatery in the town of Oscoda. Food and service were top shelf. Makes me want to come back to town, just to eat here.

Trying to keep in mind Oscoda isn't exactly a culinary Mecca. I tried. Really I did. There aren't a ton of options up here. Things started with a bit of a wait on Saturday night for a table around 715. I took that as a good sign. Once seated our waitress did a friendly drive by, saying she'd be right with us. Another young lady (the friendliest of the bunch dropped off fresh baked bread and honey butter)... All good signs, or so I thought.

But bread was dense and flavorless and the honey butter didn't help it. Eventually we got water and placed a rushed drink and appetizer order. The drink (Manhattan) came back quick enough, maybe a touch too sweet, but pretty much what was expected, and we were asked about entree orders .... Except no special information was provided. Rushed again. We opted for a filet and prime rib with soup, salad and sides.

The soup (millennium) came out fast, so fast it beat our still MIA chicken wings. Once I added a generous portion of salt it wasn't bad. Hubs thought it wasn't spicy enough. The wings showed up mid way, not traditional in the slightest Thai favors of ginger, I was not a fan but hubs ate 'em all.

Biggest irritant at this point was my ignored empty water glass; halfway through hubs when he grew frustrated and flagged down a refill on my behalf.

So mixed reviews at this point some good, some not so good. Salads is where service starts to slip, we order Caesar and get tomato basil vinaigrette. After a tremendous wait (such that leftover wing ranch has been used) some olive oil concoction of "Caesar dressing" appears. Despite my warning hubs dresses his salad, takes one bite and finds it had rendered his lettuce inedible.

More waiting; a glass of wine would be nice... No server hmmm. Twiddle fingers. Wait.

Entrees find there way to the table! Rejoice! Order wine. Cut into filet (ordered medium); over cooked. Cut into prime rib (ordered medium plus, well say medium well); over cooked. Taste both. Add generous amounts of salt and pepper (don't they have this stuff in the kitchen?!?) and proceed to chew, and chew and chew. So dry.

Wine would sure help to wash this down. Where is that wine?

Sweet potato was good with butter and sugar but that's tough to mess up, veg (carrots and beans steamed to mush and no flavor or seasoning); rice was overlooked with an un describable unpleasant flavor.

Not good. Wine would help to wash it down...hmm, no wine, no server. Getting cranky now. Server shows up some time later and offers to bring the check. (Clearly dessert and growing her tip and ticket isn't high on the list).

We agree and mention the missing wine. Her reply, sorry guys I didn't even write it down I won't charge you for it. Obviously, we didn't get it so we shouldn't pay for it.

She drops off the bill but the wine isn't the only thing she forgot to write down. I wonder how food and bar costs at this place is: no app or drink, just the entrees hastily totaled up. Wait and wait and wait, please you know we want to pay come back and cash us out!!!

Finally give up and go to the bar to pay, where the owner bill inquires how things were. Takes care of the whole check.Free is good, but I can't say I'd go back for seconds.

Prime Rib and/or Barrel Cut Sirloin. I have had both the Prime Rib (Medium Rare) and the Barrel Cut Sirloin (topped with Mushrooms and Swiss cheese) with cream of crab soup, salad, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Both were absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced and a pleasant fine dining atmosphere. Come as you are dining. I wish that I would have taken a snapshot of my dinners this past week and watched as everyone becomes envious of my experience. I am making myself hungry again just thinking about it. This restaurant comes strongly recommended for lunch and dinner specials. New Lunch specials are advertised on their facebook page all the time which I have definitely liked as a reminder of what I am missing when I am away.

Great Place. My buddy and I were visiting Oscoda and we were told that Tait's was a great place to be. We were seated very promptly, and were told the specials. I decided to go with the Prime Rib for $18.99. It came w/ soup, salad, bread, and a potato. The bread was served with honey butter and both were wonderful. I had the Millennium soup which was wonderful (almost like a chicken tortilla). The salad was average, but not bad. The prime rib was HUGE and cooked medium-rare, just like I had asked! It was fantastic and it became lunch for the next day. I was expecting a much smaller cut, and was very pleasantly surprised. The potato, I ordered, fully loaded mashed potatoes, were good, not amazing, but good. The owner later came to our table to inquire about our food and service. I had nothing, but positive things to say.

I had ZERO issues with service. Everything was timely and friendly. The food was amazing. Many entrees are about $20, but if they are anything like the prime rib, it is totally worth it. When I visit Oscoda again, I will be returning.

Good value. I was recently at Tait's and had a very good experience. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly, and our server was friendly and attentive. The meal was quite good and the price very reasonable. (It's nice to see something besides iceberg lettuce in a restaurant in this area!) Near the end of the meal a gentleman (the owner, perhaps?) came to the table to inquire on our experience. I would highly recommend a visit here...we would definitely return again.

Maybe another chance.... ...but I'm doubtful. Tait's came highly recommended, but our experience was anything but good.

We were seated right away, so you know that they weren't terribly busy. However, from that point on, we had to go in search of every aspect of our meal. No server for 20 minutes, so I went to the bar to order cocktails. After those were half-finished and still no server, I flagged someone down and asked if there was anyone to take an order of if I had to go to the kitchen, myself. Yes, by that time, I was more than a little put out. I had to really fight to keep from walking out, but I had heard the food was very good. We should have walked. The food was not very good and the service never improved.

I've always tried to give restaurants where I've had a negative experience another shot, but I'm doubtful that the next time would be any better.

Do not miss this one!. This is one of our absolute favorites. If my husband and I lived closer (we're in E Tawas), we'd be there every week. Ambiance is warm and inviting, casual but upscale too. Staff are wonderful - friendly, attentive and efficient. Food is the best this side of Michigan if you are looking for upscale. We don't have a lot of choices in this arena, so we are very thankful for Tait's!

Bill Tait is there every night to see that things go smoothly. He walks around the tables and chats with folks, and you know that someone who loves their restaurant this much, is taking good care of it.

One of the things my husband and I like best is the leisurely pace. The courses are well paced, so you aren't going to find your entrees being squeezed in front of you while you are still eating your appetizers. When we finished each course, the next was served. Perfect.

Another thing we like, is that you are served soup AND salad, it's not a choice between them. This is a special feature, and really adds to the experience, because you have at least those two courses before the entree is served. We think it keeps things flowing nicely, and gives the staff a good chance to help folks easily, because the soup keeps the customers busy and isn't hard to serve.

The 'Millenium' soup is their specialty, and is made with black beans and a Mexican white cheese melted in the middle. It has a rich flavor, and we enjoy it a lot.

Between the fresh bread, soup and salad, we are sometimes full before our entree is served, but we SOMEHOW manage to make good progress on that as well! We've had the steaks and prime rib, all delicious, as well as the skirt steak that is marinated and has a wonderfully intense flavor. I'm going for the lamb chops next time, they've been tempting me for awhile!

There are a lot of potato and rice side dishes to choose from, and they're all quite good. There was a delicious potato risoto that was similar to scalloped potatoes (no rice in it!), and simple steak fries that were perfectly cooked.

We just love this place. It feels like a cross between a french restaurant and a country inn. Can't wait to go back!
