Absolutely spectacular food. The place is cozy inside, was fairly busy, and the gentleman running the front was very nice and quick. I’ve never had Ethiopian food so I won’t compare elsewhere but the dishes were all delicious. The bread…omg. It is so good. Like a sourdough pancake almost. I couldn’t stop eating even though I was full. 3 people eating for only $45ish bucks? Deal.
You gotta buy their water or soda so bring your own if you don’t wanna pay but that’s ok for me. Small business so helping cut costs is understandable. Bring a fork if you aren’t ok with sharing plates as well because they don’t give you plates or silverware but that’s completely ok with me and added to the experience.
Pic is basically the remains because I forgot to get a photo before

I have been to a lot of Ethiopian restaurants in various cities including Minneapolis, Seattle, Kansas City, and many more major Metro areas. But this restaurant by a far is the best one I have ever been to. The owners gave me a friendly welcome and service. The food is so delicious and pure. The atmosphere is also very great. You feel welcomed with great hospitality.

One of my favourite places to eat in Omaha. Sadly, I do think it’s a gem that not many know about. Owners and staff are very friendly and make great recommendations. The tea is amazing. The quality and consistency of food is outstanding. I can’t sing enough praises for Lalibela — definitely try it out for yourself.

The food was delicious! A variety of tastes and textures are offered with the combo plate, and it was enough food for three of us.
The tea was delicious as well - slightly sweet and brimming with warm spices.
Casual atmosphere, helpful staff.
Will definitely be going back!

I read the glowing reviews and really looked forward to trying the food at Lalibela. It was also my first time eating Ethiopian food.
I dined in, and even the people stopping in to pickup their takeout orders were raving about the food.
It's delicious! I ordered the combo platter, which had a mixture of different foods and spices, eaten on and with a side of Injera bread. I also ordered a second combo platter to-go to bring to family.
Staff was very kind. There were also laminated papers on the table describing Ethiopian cuisine and food history, which was nice.
Definitely recommend and look forward to going back the next time I'm in Omaha! :)
Cultural tip: it's traditional/cultural etiquette to eat with your right hand. Enjoy!

That was quite a interesting place experience with greens and a traditional authentic experience .. combination platter is for couple
Or families who do not mind sharing the food as the authentic experience is to share and eat the food together .. that is what the combination plate is ordered for .. perfect for a couple and expect some Ethiopian spices. The various types of tastes will be a mix of some bland , greens , lentils and meats.
Good for a couple.

Delicious food!! The combination plate is perfect to be able to try a lot of things. Definitely enough to feed 2-3 people. The spiced tea was also amazing.

I absolutely love this place. The owners are so so nice! The combo platter is my favorite and usually is enough food for two. You can call ahead for take out! Always so fresh and so delicious! It's my favorite place to go! They only have bottled drinks so prepare for that. Other wise it is my favorite place in Omaha.

Excellent food. This place amazes me every time I go there. The vegetarian platter is very good. The ambience of the place needs to be improved. I have noticed that the price of the food is increased so I would expect better ambience. Good portions and reasonable price. Definitely try the spiced tea. It's relieving. I will definitely go there again.

The food was very tasty and was definitely authentically Ethiopian cuisine. I particularly loved the spiced vegetables and the Ethiopian flat bread. The bread was perfectly textured - soft and moist. The waitress patiently explained what the different dishes were on the plate. My friend and I ordered a combination of both meat and vegetables. The serving size for two people was very generous. My only slight criticism was the fact the restaurant didn't offer a free glass of water. Diners have to order bottled water if they so desire. We also ordered Ethiopian hot, spiced tea which was delicious but a tad bit too sweet. Overall, it was a good dinning experience at this restaurant! In terms of the degree of how hot the food is (spice wise), I would rate it a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 be the highest. This is very welcoming for people whom cannot tolerate very hot, spicy food.
