Pollo Tropical

We've been coming to Pollo Tropical infrequently since it opened years ago. It's a great lunch or dinner place, before or after a winsome movie at AMC Woodlands. For our last lunch here 4/24/22, we had lunch before seeing THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE. As before, staff was friendly and service was fast. We ordered the special and small drinks. No more soda machine in the corner - staff pours the drinks. No more delivery to your table - wait at the counter for your order. Inside was still clean and with plenty of tables. When we sat down at a booth with food and drinks, Husband realized he had a tea - not the Coke he ordered. But it was okay, so he drank it. The beans and rice was good - not yellow rice as we had had before. Only brown or white rice for the special. Chicken was good - in the past, we've had plumper chickens. They must have put these chickens on a diet. The highlight of the meal was the order of plantains - as plentiful and delicious as remembered. We will continue to come here since the staff is nice, the food is good, and the prices are excellent.

Their food is really good but the staff at this location not so much. Food items are usually messed up. And they pretty much never get your sauces right. You either get no sauce or the wrong sauce. Then if you do get the right sauce you get a mostly empty container of one sauce that's supposed to cover the numerous food items ordered. It's a shame.

Food was excellent as usual. Had an issue with our order as the young lady taking it put in something other than what my husband ordered. We then waited over 20 minutes before we got it. My husband was not happy but we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. Almost everyone else was also having to go back and get their orders corrected too. We were almost done eating when the manager came over and asked how it was. We told him the food was excellent but they have to work out the issues they are having with ordering and food prep. He told us it wasn't an excuse, but everyone there working is new and only half trained. He himself has been there for 2 weeks and they are trying hard to get it fixed. He then gave my husband some chicken to make it right for him not getting what he ordered. Issue corrected so still giving 5 stars.

Just spent 30 minutes waiting for my order. Watching person after person before me return to the counter with a bad order. My order was surf and turf trio, they gave me shrimp creole. It would was a tough night. Manager came out to ask everyone how it was, he even offered to make it right. Great customer service when all was said and done. Food, as always, was excellent. People dining in all seem okay. Awesome!

It comes across as a fast food joint. but I think the prices are a bit high... I tried the pork and chicken combo. Pork was good, chicken was very plain. best with one of there dipping sauces to give it some flavor. could be a nice change from other fast food joints, but I certainly wont go out of my for it

I remeber going to Pollo Tropical in Puerto Rico and fell in love with their food, so you could imagine my excitement when I found one here ! What happened ? The food is so so bland , the pork was dry, the chicken flavorless and the rice was mushy ! The only thing I enjoyed was their mango smoothie...

They didn't have this really good sauce they used to have but they did have a great steak option (churrasco I think). I had to wait in line twice because I totally forgot to add the sauce (my fault) but both times were a very long wait. The second time may have been 10 minutes it was kind of a bummer. As a whole, the meal was okay, just no decent sauce and the rice wasn't great.
