Made a stop for lunch today and felt like something new to me. I got the special with the Thai Chicken and rice and a drink. They gave me a large serving of crispy fried chicken and delicious rice with different sauces. The drink was a Twist which is basically a Tea and Coffee drink with milk. I loved it! This is a great spot for take out through DoorDash. There are only two people running it so be patient. It is worth the short wait. Enjoy!
Was running errands near this place, had no idea what it was but as I left the store I was in, I smelled the aroma of their delicious food which was two stores over & figured I had to try it.
Got the fried chicken & steamed rice with green tea lemonade & everything was delicious. The fried chicken cooked almost perfectly, the steamed rice has good flavor as it’s cooked in chicken broth, & the green tea lemonade hit the spot & was light & refreshing.
But the highlight of my meal would have to be the orange colored sauce which I think is their version of a sweet & sour with a little spice to it. I loved how it had the added spice, chili pepper flavors in the sweet & sour sauce, it pairs beautifully with the fired chicken & rice.
Food came out pretty fast & very fresh.
Would highly recommend & I will be back. 9 or 9.5 out of 10. Only thing that could be improved would be the drink prices & possibly the soup but still not complaining as the food is reasonably priced.
Kao Mun Gai is a cozy Thai eatery and boba shop just north of 36th & Western.
They do 3 things, and they do them all very well.
They do bubble/boba tea (highly recommend the Thai iced tea and the anchan soda).
They make a delicious pad Thai with your choice of proteins. I could eat pad Thai every day and probably never get tired of it.
And lastly, they make Kao Mun Gai, which in addition to being the name of the place, is also the name of their tasty Thai chicken rice dish - served with 3 sweet or savory sauces to choose from.
You won’t leave hungry, so go say hi!
I love when a menu has just a few items sometimes. The chicken was fire and I don’t even like pad Thai but tried theirs and it is GOOD! Careful on the spice to put on the side tho. I love that they have unique flavored boba teas. Not the best but Different from the other boba shops. The cashier was friendly.
Talk about a hidden gem... This one has been up for 2 years and I never even knew about it. The word for this place is FRESH! The bubble tea is fresh, the boba in the bubble tea is rest and the pool is definitely fresh. Everything is made to order. The only negative I see is the lack of feeding they're going to have when I blow this place up. Go see ViVi for the best, bubble tea I've ever had and some of the best Asian food you can get a pound for pound in the city.
I stopped in here on a lark one afternoon. The menu is simple, but that's that's good thing. I ordered the crispy chicken with rice, and it didn't disappoint. The real standout the variety of drinks there are to choose from. I had the coffee with Boba, and was very happy with it. In fact I plan to go back to try more of the drink combos. On top of that, I got to talk cycling with the staff. Definitely glad I swung in.
I cant speak for the teas, but the only entree they offer is amazing. Not to mention, the lady that served me was super polite and her smile felt genuine, so the service was great.
I really like this place! The chicken and rice as well as the pad thai are really good. I love their ginger sauce. Their spring rolls aren’t my favorite. Kinda remind me of egg rolls. Boba is good too!
Absolutely delicious both fried and steamed chicken on rice. The steamed chicken was tender, juicy, well-seasoned, Fried option also crunchy.
The set also come with soup and sauce so damn good. Dont miss this hidden gem place.
One absolutely delicious meal! My first time trying Kao Mun Gai,
Super fast and Friendly service and nice vibe!
