I visited on a Friday evening around 5 o'clock, waited behind 2 other customers which I was very happy to see considering the construction going on. I had heard all good things about the new owners and new items. I purchased a cherry crumble pie and a lemon white chocolate cookie. After a slight amount of sticker shock I was on my way. The cherry pie was outstanding, I sliced it into 8 and we could barely eat a whole slice each. The cookie was in a complete breakfast. Both items were excellent quality and very flavorful. I am excited to try a meat pie next.
I was familiar with this place before it changed hands, and recommend it now more than ever. Had the 4 berry crumble today and it was delicious. The owner was friendly and helpful, and for the folks who are wound up about the price: chill out. You get what you pay for--our pie weighed more than a small child and could easily serve 10 adults. :)
I cannot emphasize enough how exquisite the pies and cookies are at the newly owned House of Pies!! It is truly an experience to enjoy their baked goods! Their desserts are unlike anything I have ever had. I would urge you to stop in and buy a little of everything and find your favorite. Hoping the extremely kind new owners and their amazing recipes become a long-standing tradition up here to be enjoyed for years to come! Give them a try, I am confident you will not be disappointed! Please know, the pie we purchased easily weighed 5 pounds- they do not skimp on ANYTHING, and it is important to understand that this kind of quality (especially in today’s market!) is not cheap to produce, so you are getting what you pay for (and then some!!!). 😊
We purchased their Carmel Apple pie for Thanksgiving this year. It was the best apple pie we have ever ate. The owner said we would enjoy it and he was absolutely correct. We also have had the blueberry crumb pie that was our favorite until we ate the caramel apple. The new owners have updated the inside and the atmosphere is much brighter and friendly. Recommend this place delicious pies. They are expensive but the quality is well worth it
We stopped in earlier this week to see the new store. We purchased a mini steak and Guinness pot pie. It was AMAZING! Can’t wait for the pies my wife is going to custom order.
Some of the best pies (strawberry mango and apple rhubarb) I’ve ever had. Cookie (triple chocolate) was also perfect! The whole experience brought me so much joy from the fresh coat of pink paint outside to the beautiful artwork when you walk in along with the smell of pies and finally to an incredibly kind person behind the counter. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Higher in price but worth every penny! I will definitely be back!
Well worth the hassle of getting through the construction! Picked up 2 pies and some cookies and they were all big hits!
The Chocolate Silk pie is delicious, but not too sweet. The Apple/cherry crumble pie is a combination that I had not thought of, but it’s a great mixture of flavors and texture.
The cookies are big and thick. Chocolate chip is my favorite.
The staff was friendly, and answered our many questions. The new look of the store is bright and inviting.
I’ve been going here since I was a baby and called it “the Pie Lady!”. Now it’s back and better than ever, thanks to Arreste and team! My favorite pie ever and my favorite summer treat. A Michigan institution! And the crumb top is unlike any pie you’ll ever try. So so so delicious! Couldn’t recommend more!
My dad surprised me with a pie from here on my first visit to town and it did not disappoint! The coconut cream pie was incredibly light and refreshing with the perfect balance of natural sweetness from the coconut and a delicious flaky crust. I cannot wait to try more from their impressive menu the next time I’m in town!
Stopped on a whim because I didn't do anything special for my husband's 75th bday.
I brought home a pumpkin pie and after he ate 2 slices, I was informed that it was better than my homemade pies! (He's right)
New birthday tradition for our house from now on!
To sum it up- Banana Cream 100 stars
Pumpkin 150 stars. Next to try is Lemon Merangue Pie.
So glad you chose Northern Michigan as your new home.
Thank you.
