best restaurant in oberlin..great breakfast ,amazing dinner ,great new look............................................................................
I had breakfast here and can't say enough about the crepe with egg, cheese and ham. The home fries were really home fries and I can't wait to go back the next time I visit Oberlin and do lunch or dinner!

My family and I visited Black River Cafe for the first time on Labor Day. We arrived around 12pm.... we were seated at 12:30.... This may seem like a bit of a wait but we gave it some patience due to the fact that is WAS Labor Day and it WAS a college town. Fast forward. We ordered coffee.... O DEAR.... the coffee alone was worth the wait. Delicious, rich, little to no citrus undertones, and very deep flavor. Just what the doctor ordered! I ordered the Bagel and Lox with a side of hash (just to sample the hash and have some left for my brothers), brothers ordered three egg omelettes and a three pancake stack (big boys and proud of it!).... The bagel and lox came with (please prepare yourself for drooling) a delicious everything bagel, cream cheese, the best smoked salmon I've had in much too long, capers, tomatoes, red onions and lettuce..... I am salivating as I type.... The hash was outstanding and had delicious sweet peppers and onions tossed in which I picked out to eat first.... Now the pancakes.... I would not be exaggerating by saying that each pancake was at least 1/2 an inch thick, moist, fluffy and to die for... I think my brothers started to hate the fact that they weren't allowed to hit a girl from how many times my fork stealthily made its way to their stack o' pancakes... Was the service a little slow? Yes... Were the people nice, the food delicious, coffee piping hot and fresh? YES... I have been singing their praises and allotting time to make another 20 min drive out for that same experience very soon.
Food is awesome. But the svc can b very very bad. Joe really need to chg this. Alot of the same talk on the street
Fresh, relatively fast, good eat!
This Cafe never stops amazing me with it's very different dishes and always great tasting food. If you are tired of the same old... same old food I would strongly suggest giving this place a try. We live 40 minutes from this place and don't even hesitate making the drive to eat their great food.
Fantastic food served in a cool comfortable atmosphere. All local ingredients, telling you right on the front of the menu where they are sourcing from.

One of my most favorite restaurants in Northern Ohio! Located in quirky, fun Oberlin, Ohio, near Oberlin College. The servers are upbeat and very attentive. The food is exceptional, and prepared well every time. Try the Raspberry pancakes, eggs any style and Applewood smoked bacon, Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Delish! Great place with local farm to table food! I had coffee and cornmeal pancakes with bananas and bacon with sourdough toast and fresh raspberry preserves. Everything was delicious and I will be back soon!
I have never seen a restaurant so fast at getting out delicious meals during a rush. Meals were getting to the table so fast, even the waitress was surprised, and there was 7 of us. This occurred twice. Both with the appetizers and the main courses. And the food and drinks were AMAZING!!! The food was cooked as ordered and to perfection! Our waitress was the best. Super polite and professional too. I'm definitely coming back anytime I'm in the area again! If I were to recommend anything, it'd be their Cesar Salad. Best one I've had in a long time. Their yam truffle fries were super good too.
Was told about Black River Cafe from some friends... They said it was the best restaurant in town... And boy were they right!!! From the moment we walked in everything was AMAZING. Fresh brewed coffee was delicious! we ordered off the brunch menu, Ingredients are fresh and you can definitely tell! everything came out way faster then what we expected (being an almost full dining room) not only did it look AMAZING but tasted even better! I can't wait to tell my family and friends about place also! I definitely recommend it and will be back. looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
It's quite a cosy place to stay in. The French toast is really good for breakfast, and for lunch I usually get the Portebello Mushroom sandwich... good food, but the service could be better...
