Review Portobello - Oakland

Pleasant service, calm atmosphere, (too) big portions, nice menu options, (tho, guys, it’s time to refresh the physical plastic menu files), grate taste. Cream brûlée with a little surprise. The only minus for me was a bit loud silly Italian pop music.

Alicia was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal!! She made my mother-in-laws birthday one to remember. Her recommendations were out of this world. The calamari was amazing! Seafood Riviera was so spot on for my me and brother in law! My mom wanted a special meal not on the menu and she got it made for her. I’m glad we gave this place another shot last year we have awful rude service and I didn’t want to come back. My mother in law insisted so I gave in. She was super outgoing, was very fast, and stayed on top of refills. I manage a restaurant and her service was so immaculate that I told her I’d love to have her serve at my restaurant. She politely declined and that made me like her more because of her loyalty. We’ll be back for the seafood and the service! I wish I could give 10 stars!

10/10 ! Have been here a few times and every time they have outdone themselves! Beautiful indoor and outdoor atmosphere, delicious food and attentive staff. I had gotten the grilled swordfish steak with a chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Highly recommend for a night out or even for an event

We went here for the first time with friends to celebrate a birthday today and our experience was, unfortunately, extremely disappointing due to the service. We went during lunch time and the restaurant wasn't packed or busy. The food honestly was actually good, the quality of food was very good, with generous amount of seafood in our dish and everything tasted great. The problem we had was with an extremely rude waiter. I truly understand that the occupation of a waiter may not be easy, difficult dealing with people (as is with any customer service job). But this waiter, no exaggeration, literally threw the plates down when serving us. It was so loud that it startled everyone while we were conversing and even people around us looked over because he was serving so obnoxiously. Then he proceeded to ignore us increasingly towards the end of our visit. He was throwing down plates as he told us that he was reprimanded by the management because we ordered extra drinks with another waitress. Seriously?? Hm.. are people not allowed to order extra drinks when desired and with other waiters if the first waiter is no where in sight?? Also, we ordered desserts as well and this waiter brought 6 plates for each person but only two utensils in total, not to mention completely inappropriate utensils. The attitude and behavior of the waiter was absolutely horrendous and he truly ruined our special dine out. I hope this place really works on their service people because it's a real loss on them for having quality food but such terrible customer service. Unfortunately, I definitely do not recommend this place any time soon unless you're ordering take out, maybe.

Had gone out to dinner the night before at a different place, and got 2 tasteless sandwiches, beans and slaw for over $42, and was so disappointed I didn't want to go out again. But I had plans to meet a friend for lunch, and this is where she picked. Would not have been my choice. But... I was pleasantly surprised! They had an extensive lunch menu with prices that were reasonable for the type of food. Before our meal, we got a nice salad, very fresh. Then came the meal. The portions were large and my eggplant lasagna even came with vegetables. Not just one, but carrot, snow pea, broccoli, squash, cauliflower, and more all cooked to perfection and delicious. My friends pasta plate was very large and tasty too. We both brought food home for another meal. And all that for just over $29. I absolutely recommend lunch at Portobello's!

First time dining at this impressive, Italian authentic looking restaurant on a Sunday evening. Hardly any other diners there but our seating was pleasant on their porch. Seats were very uncomfortable so we felt a lengthy dinner was not going to happen. Service, Drinks, apps and salads-Excellent. From there the main courses were mediocre at best. Chicken rubbery, veal piccata smothered in an unappealing yellow gravy with fishy tasting veges and salmon over seasoned. We did order dessert which everyone in our party enjoyed. We did feel pampered by the waitstaff. But will think twice before coming for another overpriced meal. Perhaps other entrees on the menu will be more delicious. There were a lot of choices.

Fantastic food and decor. The waitresses made us feel right at home. Beautifully decorated. I will definitely be back.

Good food. The service was not acceptable, as the waitres said "we don't have any new drinks menu, because we're in the process of making new drinks, therefore, we have all the different wines as you know and the standard drinks". I silently checked on this later, after I paid my bill with a proper tip, the menu was the same and the host said nothing had changed. I rather could not believe how unfortunate the restaurant is to have a waitress like that working for them. On top of that, she was browsing around at the trees and the bulbs, instead of paying attention to our dinner menu orders. It felt like I was not worthy enough to be there.

Ambiance is perfect! Food very good, plenty of room to dine upstairs if you want that personal space. Been coming here long time, Summer time is the best here because of the beautiful patio & waterfall. Did few New Year Eve's here :) Friday night dancing is a good hook up spot lol but at the same time you never know who you run into, there are the few Elite that still define the place and add class!

Easter Brunch was lousy, food was cold, outside seating was Hot then Cold, then Hot. Put 3 tiny round tables together with one table cloth for 7 people ( how weird is that ) our food almost dumped a few times. Very little deserts to choose from and service was barley around, had to remove our own dirty plates many times. Not the greatest. Disappointed because we had dinner their and it was great. Brunch was terrible. Carving Stations Prime Rib | Turkey DID NOT EXIST...

Best place for lunch!!! Dinner sized portions so reasonably priced & delicious. Love sitting outside by the waterfall. It's like a mini vacation. So hard to choose... amazing Italian cuisine & then an incredible sushi menu. You can't go wrong!

Food was great, service was not. The first time it was Fathers Day and we were s large party so we thought that was a one time thing. We went back for my mothers birthday and the Manager forgot to tell the waiter that so they didn't come sing nor offer anything to mane up for the mistake. Service was just ok again. Do not go for a large party.

My family loves coming to Portobellos. We’ve been coming for years and lately have been celebrating several major family milestones like 70th birthday parties and 50 year anniversaries and my dad’s 75th Birthday. The food is always on point.

Food is great. Customer service is horrible. We eat at the bar where the service is much better. They need an outside management group to take over.
