Review La Flamme - Oakland

The service was awesome from the first hello at Valet to the goodbye from the host. When coming into the restaurant, it was like waking into an art deco space. Our table, like others were dressed in black linens with an albacore shell surrounded by silver utensils and a beautiful hand blown water glass. They stole my heart after our glasses were filled with water and I asked for a straw, they brought a hand blown glass straw instead of a paper or bamboo straw. The sommelier put on a beautiful presentation when pouring our opening glass of champagne. Our waiter was well versed with all of the dishes. We enjoyed all 4 course of our meal. Considering the high quality of food, drinks and service it was well worth the cost. I cannot wait to go back!

I would hands down recommend this restaurant. We had the best time celebrating our anniversary here. Everything was outstanding, from the service to the food and the ambiance. Some dishes I would like to highlight would be the tuna carpaccio and the rib eye, they were delicious. I would also really recommend the wine pairing, the whole wine selection was amazing. Shoutout to their master sommelier Jeremiah, he was amazing. Thank you everyone for making our night so special. We can’t wait to come back and recommend to friends.

I ate in the gallery, which has a nice vibe and fewer people than the dedicated dining space. Most dishes are $20-30. The bone marrow is absolutely stellar. Cocktails are pretty solid, with a big emphasis on absinthe, which I'm not a huge fan of butt what're you gonna do?

Phenomenal service and atmosphere, warm and friendly staff just like family and made the dining experience very comfortable. Detailed-oriented with everything such as platform, dishes, and even color choices for food ingredients in each dish was amazing. Tasty food as well as great presentation. Overall this place will be my go-to from now on đŸ”„. Thank you, chef, and your amazing staff family. Best of luck

Pretty disappointing experience given the reviews where some people said it's Michelin star worthy.. The waiter seemed new or less experienced about the menu because he didn't recommend that many dishes, just said what was popular. He was nice but not very present after receiving our food. Also he said to order everything at once for better pacing. The entrees took about 15-20 minutes to come out so I don't think the pacing is accurate. He also said to order 3-4 bites/appetizers for 2 people.. 2 was definitely enough and the entrees are pretty big. I appreciated the sommelier who served a drink that wasn't wine and the gentleman that brought our food. After entrees it took another 15 minutes to be asked about dessert.. He didn't even bring the menu so we passed. He also said something was coming but it was 2 small sugary candies, nothing for the boyfriend's birthday though I was told he would get an eclair. I guess telling them in advance and marking on OpenTable it's a birthday doesn't matter and the waiter didn't ask if we were celebrating anything. I understand this may be asking a lot but for this calibur of restaurant, it should be better. About the food.. the oven fired oysters were just lukewarm. The waiter said that was to melt the compound butter but we didn't experience low temperature of oven oysters at places like Hog Island. Flavor was great otherwise. The polenta was delicious and our favorite. Very flavorful and a great portion size. The duck and pork andouille entree was okay. It didn't look like a dish for the calibur of the restaurant or what they are trying to be. The halibut had great flavors but it was too dry. Pretty sad. Wouldn't come back nor recommend for a birthday/dinner. The bar inside was very bustling so maybe you should check that out instead if you're inclined. Appetizers are around $15-20, entrees $30~each. Cocktails $15~. Corkage is $40.. Not worth it.
Not Michelin guide
I had dinner with a friend We where seated indoors.the atmosphere felt dark and cold. Staffs where not attentive to the guests 🙄. For having covid outbreak. Seeing staffs in the kitchen touching their mask and often bringing it down while cooking felt a bit off. Starters to desserts where great. But the duck dish was a bit cold. My friends said food was a bit of for the price. Rather than that hope they can do better next year

Amazing dining and lounging experience. From the artistic design of space & decor, to the beautiful modern plating technique accompanying Michelin-star worthy burst of flavors across all dishes. This is a must try restaurant.

Creative dishes that are very well-prepared and beautifully plated. Palette brings a nice touch of class and fun to SOMA in San Francisco. The duck confit tacos were savory and paired nicely with the mole and pickled vegetables. The miso cod was sadly only so-so. However, the beef tartare was wonderful and the beets complemented the flavors really well. The buttermilk fried chicken bites were good though the salmon roe on top didn't quite work for me. The cocktails here are inventive though the black cap mushroom cocktail with Bourbon was a bit too medicinal for me. The service here is top notch and a solid five stars.

La Flamme tart is a very delicious dish ! The first bite made my taste buds tingle. I have never in my life tasted anything like it. La Flamme is a hidden jewel in the Bay area.

Delicious! Light and crisp and full of flavor. I was lucky enough to catch La Flamme at Gilman Brewing. The tartes went great with the Saisons.

Maybe it was a bad batch, but the tarte was way over cooked, dry, tasteless and really low on ingredients. For $20, it's a total reapoff. The Frozen one in trader's Joe is way better.

La flamme delivered for a group of 15 last night and everyone loved it. Original Alsacian recipe I can vouch for it :) Try the munster tart if you're not afraid of stinky delicious cheese, and the banana chocolate for those with a sweet tooth!

Tarte Flambée is rare in the U.S. The few places that do have it have a lot to learn. La Flamme is totally authentic. I used to live in Strasbourg and ate tarte flambée once a week, so I know you get the real deal here.
