La Boulangerie

Ok pastry. It is a bit old at 8 am when I got it. Seems like it’s baked at a central location and delivered here so it’s not fresh out of the oven. Not crispy but a bit soggy. I tried multiple pastries. They look great and I was expecting better specially for the price. Good selection, just wish they were warm and flaky and out of the oven...

I'm sure it is great for a coffee and pastry but don't try to visit for a meal. After we ordered we tried to find a table but 75% were occupied by people with laptops and no food/ drink. A lot of cups of water were seen. So we found a table and shortly after our food arrived. I ordered a French dip no horseradish, seems easy enough right? So horseradish all over it and 2 slices of packaged roast beef with cheese melted over. OK it's a hipster place fine, I get it is their take and clearly very VERY small portions. Then I look for the dip (French DIP) nope they are out. OUT of dip? Why are we selling French dips without the DIP? I ask what's up and am told they are out of French onion soup.... OK so again au jus not French onion soup but I guess that is a style choice, but yeah they are out. The counter person offers me clam chowder to dip my sandwich in? Kind but HUNH??? I end up talking with all of the staff and in the entire process not one employee offers to fix it, change options, nor return my money. My friend had a Kale Ceasar oddly missing kale and for her 4 bucks extra she got 6 pieces of boiled chicken. We asked for water and eventually figured out that water is self service, so another strike against the service. I'm giving it 2 stars cause the bread was really good and it didn't make me sick. But honestly don't take anyone you want to impress here. You were warned.

I stopped in to enjoy a break in between a double shift. Just wanted a quick bite and a good cup of coffee. I had the vietnamese salad. . .the chicken they use is very tasty but it is sparingly applied. The rest of the salad was just chopped cabbage, a few peanuts, quinoa and cilantro. It needed more dressing to save it from being bland and dry. The worst part was at 5:05pm the ambient music was changed to regaetton at full blast. I thought i had stayed past closing but their posted hours are until 6pm. It was abundantly clear that staff wanted to clean up and get out; the level of disregard for their guests was incredible. So if ownership is wondering why they are not as busy as they should be, look at how staff treats your guests.
