Oh my goodness. The hospitality is amazing. A group of us came up from So Cal (and a couple from OR) as a part of a “follow in the footsteps of your favorite character” (Tea Cozy Mysteries Series by J.S. Devivre) and tea adventure to a few Bay Area teas with the Tea Travellers Socitea. This was our last stop and a great way to end our long weekend adventure. The tea is amazing and they offer a great variety. The sandwiches are also amazing and a bit of untraditional it a very wonderful way (the curry is a bit spicy so fair warning to those with a pallet that has difficulty with spicy foods, for those that like a bit of spice this is not your traditional curry and your mouth will be delighted - Secret ingredient is their homemade family spicy mustard). I would recommend this place for any tea lovers or anyone looking to enjoy the atmosphere of people watching on College Avenue a popular destination for many living or visiting Oakland.

This tea service was delicious! We did the "entire tea"! Scones were amazing as were the sandwiches and desserts! We will be back.
Food was great! Would highly recommend the ham, brie, and apple sandwiches. The scones were very well done as well, and I love the clotted cream that came with it!! The tea that I got (midnight peach) smelled and tasted amazing. The waiters and waitresses were especially nice as well. We had a bridal shower there and they put a lot of thought into personalising the presentation of what we ordered, and was very understanding and helpful in helping us with pictures and everything. Would recommend for events!!
Good tea (I had the Paris Decaf), very good scones (mine was candied ginger; maybe the best part of the service) with preserves and homemade Devonshire cream. My egg salad sandwich was simple but tasty and quite filling too. However, beware the curried chicken sandwich which tasted STRONGLY of hot mustard and was inedible to me. The sweets were good but not outstanding and I wish they'd given us more choice on which we received. The salad was nice with lots of fresh fruit and the total price was reasonable.
There are no longer too many places that serve high tea but this is definitely one of them and they carry on the tradition very well. I don't know how a simple tuna sandwich can be outstandingly good but it was, along with the other dainty sandwiches offered. And the fresh baked scone was one of the best I have ever had. A bit expensive but high tea has always had its own pricing scale and if that is the experience you want, it is worth it. My girlfriend wanted to go there for her birthday and we had a very sweet time. High tea will feed you well for lunch or even a light supper.
This place is so cute and charming and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. My friend has celiac disease and really could only eat gluten free. We contacted them in advance and they made special sandwiches just for her. Great selection of teas and plenty of good food.
I went here as part of a private party. We had a wonderful time; the food was great and more filling than I expected. The teas were lovely and our server was very attentive despite how large the party was.
