This might have been my favorite meal while we were here. We came here because of the good reviews. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but fortunately there is a cute gift shop next door. Once we got seated, the service was fast and friendly. The food was great. I had a shrimp omelette that was to die for. The hashbrowns and toast that came with it were good too. Definitely worth checking out.
Old Bridge is a classic Oak Island spot for authentic, no frilles, southern food and charm. I always stop by when in town. They added pagers for the wait that work as far as the great shop next door too. We did some shopping for vinyl, espresso, and beach decor.
The food is straight forward and great. The fried okra is amazing and can't be missed.
Visit here for some great people who want to make sure you leave full and happy.
Just a great diner! Friendly welcome, sat at the counter, fast service. A Oak Island local said this was the best place to eat... and she was correct. The place was packed, mostly locals. Wish I had eaten there earlier.
BTW, only open until 2pm for breakfast and lunch.
We were mesmerizing by the efficient choreography by the employees behind the counter. Professionals at their trade.
Wife had the chicken salad which she said was the best.
What to say about Old Bridge Diner. We hit this place every time we’re in OKI. The clientele is a mix of locals, tourists, truckers, aliens, etc. just about everybody who’s everybody has blown through OBD when in OKI.
Breakfast is our jam. I love their pancakes. Strawberry. Chocolate. Plain. Whatever. The waffles are good. The Smothered Biscuits are huge and hearty so buyer beware, a food coma will follow shortly thereafter.
Haven’t been for lunch but the pics from other patrons look solid. Service is always friendly and coffee refills are quick. Parking is simple in the lot. Enjoy your time in dinerville (pronounced “vull”).
Loved the classic diner feel, hash browns were perfect and not soaked in oil, portions sizes reasonable, refreshing change.
Nice little diner. The food is cheap but very good and reminiscent of home style cooking. Not greasy. I ordered the shrimp po boy and my other 2 party members got the cheese burger and double cheeseburger. The po boy was very good and came with lots of popcorn shrimp. The burgers were also very good. Great prices and quality for what you get, honestly better than some “higher quality” restaurants👍
Amazing food, wonderful service. The wait time to get a table wasn’t too bad either (approx. 20-30 minutes for a table of 5). No issues in calling for a waiter- our waiter came around every 5-ish minutes to ask how we were doing and refill our drinks.
I ordered two pancakes, two slices of French toast, and a side of fruit. I think my food was around 10 dollars. The French toast had a lot of cinnamon. It was a bit too strong for my taste, but my sister liked it a lot. I loved the pancakes! They were a bit bigger than I was expecting (~6 inches wide), but what I didn’t eat, I put into a takeout box. They were thick, fluffy, and very sweet- everything you want when you want to divulge a little.
I had the wonderful experience of spending 7 months living in the area, and ate at the Old Bridge Diner every week. The food is excellent. The price is very reasonable. But the best thing is the staff. Every one a true restaurant professional. If I am ever back in the area, my first stop will be OBD. I miss you all so much.
Peace and blessings. Xoxo
We have been going to eat at the OBD for years! Has always been perfect food and 5 stars! Recently, they have changed their hashbrowns to what I consider off the shelf grocery store hashbrowns! They are horrible! I am hopeful they get rid of this new product and bring back their staple hashbrowns!
This was our first time eating at the Old Bridge Diner, and it was great. I'm pretty set in how I like my eggs/omelets, bacon, toast, and hash browns prepared, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect breakfast experience. I was sitting where I could see the chef doing her thing, and she was like poetry in motion. We will be back... often.
