Steak 'n Shake

I come in and a sweet waitress (Robyn) tells me me to go ahead and have a seat. I head to the nearest clean table and this crazy person (another waitress) comes over and tells me there were other people waiting ahead of me. I told her they were not there when I came in. She says oh! and yanks the other half of the table away. She then yelled across the restaurant to have a seat anywhere since there are only two waitresses. My chili dog was incinerated with very little chili, and French fries cold. I recently moved back to St. Louis and looked forward to Steak and Shake. Not anymore.

I would give this place a lower rating if I could. For starters, the place was FILTHY. The table in this picture was dirty when we were seated, and stayed this way for the entire time we were there. And the floor was disgusting - my shoe actually stuck to the floor at our booth. When we were seated we weren't given any silverware or napkins, and had to ask for the table to be wiped as it was dirty. And my order was messed up two different ways - I asked for cheese on my fries & didn't get it (even though I was charged for it), and I ordered the Frisco melt, which is supposed to come on sourdough bread; I got regular sandwich bread. Avoid this place like the plague - which you may actually get if you eat here.

DINE INS DONT EXPECT SERVICE. DRIVE THRU CHECK YOUR ORDERS! THIS PLACE IS A HOT MESS SINKING! And sadly has a forever place in my memories. Its sad to see this iconic establishment flame out and be reduced to a place that you would rather not visit. However it has and its no wonder this franchise chain is going under, belly up. Theyve always made my fovorite chilli but ive noticed a drastic change in its taste over the last few years. Going from delicious to bland. Not to mention they send food out of the drive through not fit to eat. And packaged as if they are slopping hogs. They have also been in the news a lot lately and most locations are already closed. The CEO announced they will no longer include a cherry with thier shakes in order to save a million dollars a year. Does this include the cost of changing their signage that depicts cherries on top of shakes? Our last experience was a disaster. We wanted to go through the drive through but it was clooged and moving slow so my fiance decided to go in after noticing there was 3 waiters/waitresses standing idle. Upon entering no one greated her. While she looked around noticing empty unkept tables she decided to try going to the service counter where there sat a grub-dash guy waiting on his order. Eventually someone waited on her as they fumbled his order. Even the manager ignored her. Finally he left with melted cherryless shake like beverages. They reluctantly took her order and needless to say they didnt bother to include our fries with the fat saturated wrapper that included an over toasted poorly assembled Frisco Melt. As well as the dressing for her taco salad. She had to go in and she is convinced that the only reason the girl asked her what she needed this time was because she was tipped on the ticket. Oh and I was told that we actually won the Steak n Shake lottery by not being waited on and having our food handled by an obvious drug addict, ridden with open sores and a bad case of meth-mouth face. Yeah! You know! Usually you see them begging at off ramps in the city or on Live PD. Anyway as dissapointing as it is Steak n Sheak should just call it quits with whatever dignity they cant possibly have left so some of their patrons can at least have some good memories that may include cherry topped shakes!

The experience was pretty disappointing. When we walked in we waited for about 5 minutes before the party in front of us that had told us they had been waiting for 10 minutes before we got there decided to leave. That party left saying that no one had ever even acknowledged them or made eye contact. The same was true for us until we were considering leaving and finally someone came over and seated us. After our order was taken our food took a painfully long time to arrive and the restaurant was not very busy. Our waitress was the only one playing hostess, the only one bussing tables, the only one running the register, and also the server Who had most of the tables in the restaurant. Our server was extremely busy while there were two other servers waiting on one table each and doing nothing else. We have been to this restaurant many times before and this is the first experience we have had like this. What was going on felt political among the employees. We never saw a manager.

Girls in the drive-thru are the sweetest. They apologized multiple times for my order coming out so slow, but it only took six minutes. Bambi was especially sweet and held a conversation with me while we waited for my meal. It felt more like a friend gathering than a complete stranger in the window. The store has radiantly friendly staff that tend to not only be professional, but are very friendly to the guests. They are often slow, but I’ve noticed how their staffing has gone up and down over the past few weeks. This Steak ‘N Shake is getting much better!

I've given this location three tries in hopes that it was just bad a day but each time it has been worse. They are always under staffed so it's takes over an hour to get your food, the place is filthy, shakes don't bothers ordering it because it takes longer than the food if they remember at all, something is always incorrect in with the food, and no one is available for checkout. But today was the worst, I saw one of the employees, who was clearly overwhelmed, flip off a customer when confronted with a complaint. If you can't staff your store correctly with proper management it shouldn't be open. We will not be back

Mistake and Flake is the new name of this dump.NEVER EVER EAT AT THIS LOCATION.! Terrible service filthy environment. Tables are never ever cleaned. So bad that one time we found feces on our lettuce on a burger. The manager was so in professional about it he only wanted to knock off the Burger off of the menu. I demanded the whole bill be refunded. At that point he didn't even have the common decency to throw the burger away he said it on the table right across from us. They have received nothing but terrible scores from the health department. Save yourself the diarrhea and eat at Freddy's
