I'm not hard-core vegan yet but have been incorporating healthier options into my diet. I have known Hakin for 26 years now and had to visit his spot now that I am in town visiting family. I tried the supreme pizza and short ribs and was truly amazed! I may jump the fence and go strict vegan after this experience. The staff is great and informartive as well! This restaurant is a must do if you live on or are visiting South Florida!
We were vacationing in South Beach Miami and were looking for affordable vegan food. Went on a hunt for one place and it was closed. Googled Caribbean vegan restaurants and this place popped up. I'm so glad the other spot wasn't open because we would not have had the opportunity to experience Hakin. The food was delicious. There was something for the entire family to eat. The cakes are great and the fresh juice is to live for! � Meeting Hakin was great also. He and our 3 years old hit it off and now we have a friend for life! And all this happened on Christmas eve!
The Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin, is one of the very few vegetarian places in North Miami Beach. It has a variety of vegan specialties. The food is tasty, plentiful and their natural juices and smoothies are highly recommended because of the many benefits to the body healing and care. It has a small natural food store.

Now, my wordy review. This is my new favorite vegan restaurant anywhere! It's been here a long time, but I just discovered it. It was the best food I have ever had. I tried a lot of the things on the menu, and each one was better than the next! I started with Jamaican Veggie Patty with Ackee. Oh, it was SO delicious. It's an appetizer and big enough to share with a friend if you are also getting a regular meal. It was so hearty and tasty! Next time, I won't be sharing it with anyone! I then ordered the "No-Bull Vegan Bar-B-Que Ribs Sandwich". It is served on a wheat baguette and was simply out of this world. The "meat" was so tender and flavorful. It came with a beautiful salad with dark greens and carrots, etc. It was plenty of food. In between the courses, my server brought us a sampling of a delicious strawberry / pineapple smoothie. The little sample left me wanting more! It was very good. My friend had a fantastic full meal. It was the Wednesday special of Curried Chicken Vegan Nuggets. It came with a lot of other good stuff - a salad, some delicious rice, cabbage that was so good, and something called soya. I don't know what soya is, but it was amazing; it was like a little stew with soy meat in it! I could really go on and on about the food, but you get the picture. Everything was delicious and very fresh tasting. Our server was a wonderful young man who was quick to explain everything on the menu. The service was really great. We were given a sample of a fantastic coconut thing for dessert. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was good. There are several choices of vegan desserts, we were just too full to order anything else.
There are a lot of tables inside, and it is also a store filled with lots of healthy stuff to buy. It was very clean. Parking is free in front of the restaurant; no problem there.
I can't wait to go back here. Miami lacks great vegan places and I so glad to have a new place to eat. I enjoyed it immensely. Oh, and the prices are great. Everything was very reasonably priced; my sandwich was $9.75, and my friend's huge meal was only $9.95 - the value is superb.
DIRECTIONS: Ok, there seems to be issues about finding this place; I had no problem at all. It's only a couple blocks east of I-95 on 167th Street. If you are going towards I-95 (west) on 167th Street, turn into the parking lot before the Wendy's and the restaurant is right in front of you (strip mall with a white barrel-tile roof). If you get to North Miami Avenue, you've gone too far (the Wendy's is on the corner of N Miami Ave and 167th). It you are going away from I-95 (east) on 167th, make a U-turn on NE 2nd Avenue - go up a block, then, again, turn in before the Wendy's. It's on the north side of 167th Street.

Hands down the best vegetarian food I've had since moving from NYC. The food is delicious and unlike some vegetarian places, it's also healthy. Hakin Hassan's beyond hospitable, greeting me the second I walked in. His introduction to the restaurants offerings was so well presented that i told him he was in control of my meal. And, that was the best decision I could have made. It took me less then ten mins to eat but I stayed for over an hour having delightful and insightful conversations with hakin and his other patrons. I can't wait to return! This place is highly recommended for all types of eaters- it's how food should be

Great place. I have been there two times. the first was about year ago and i have to admit the people were great, but the food not so much. i was there again last night and am happy to report that it was excellent-this time both the food and people. we got there at 8 and even though they closed at 5, edwin was all too happy to help us and make up 3 dinners without any problem at all. it took a little while, but we shmoozed with him and hakin and were very glad we returned to try it again. we had a slight miscommunication, sorry about that hakin, but it was taken care of on the phone without any hassle and we are all good. i have been a vegetarian for over 30 years and would strongly recommend anyone either visiting the area or living here to give this place a go-you won't be sorry you did. the prices are more than fair and food is very good. just be careful pulling into and out of the parking lot as it is kind of hard to see from the road, which is a main street and people are zooming right by it.
Turn off the computer and get in the car immediately. If you are vegetarian/vegan and live in North Miami put your computer to sleep and GO HERE IMMEDIATELY. As I sat there eating tonight I said to my friend, "I wish I weighed 100 lbs more so I could eat another dinner."
... it's that good. Plus the service is incredible. As my friend and I drove back from Vegetarian Restaurant we just kept repeating how the experience "made our night." As someone who recently moved to Miami this place is refreshing; it's friendly, healthy and full of the good vibes I've noticed are rare to find in the 305.

Vegan Cuisine at its Most Delicious!. Hakin serves up some of the most delicious Caribbean American cuisine I've ever enjoyed! I could have easily eaten every meal of my recent trip to Miami here and never tired of it. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, Hakin's winning smile and warm hospitality made my mom and I feel instantly at home.
While Mom enjoyed a tall glass of pineapple juice,(she never eats lunch), I indulged in an amazing plate made up of Seitan BBQ Ribs, Curry Herbed Tofu, Herb Tomato Chunks, Quinoa with Spinach and Carrots, and Sautéed Bok Choy along with a glass of freshly squeezed Carrot-Beet-Apple Juice. From the very first bite, I could tell how much love went into the preparation of this exquisitely prepared meal.
Not that I really had room for it, but Hakin tempted me with his Pineapple Tofu Cake, and so I relented and ordered a small slice. Without hesitation, I can safely say that it was the most scrumptious pineapple cake I've ever eaten, even surpassing my own pineapple upside down cake, which up until now, I thought was pretty awesome. The heavenly buttercream frosting was sinfully rich, and the cake was sweetly moist and filled with little chunks of pineapple. I didn't think I'd finish the whole thing, but I polished it off in no time. I was really glad Hakin talked me into it!
On my last morning in Miami, I worked for a few hours and then headed back to Hakin's for a hearty breakfast and some empanadas to take with me on the 10-hour journey home.
The Blueberry Pancakes and Scrambled Tofu were absolutely delicious. I enjoyed them with a Pineapple-Banana Smoothie and Hakin's lively company. What a delectable breakfast!
The next time you're in Miami (or if you're lucky enough to live there), run, don't walk to Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin. You'll be treated to one of the best meals of your life.
Food with flavor. Not only is this place affordable (even though no prices are listed on the menu), the food is fantastic, a wonderful combination of flavors. Something for every vegetarian or non veggie person. A must try is the soup!!!
This place had thee most delicious vegan food I've ever tasted! The owner is smart, kind & holistic. I can honestly say that my time there was a wonderful experience. I left feeling light from the food & uplifted from the ambiance, conversation & service. I highly recommend everyone (vegan or not) to partake in such a fulfilling experience. You will not regret it, but you will get hooked. My friend and I hired the owner, Hakin to be our health and wellness coach & I'm looking forward to my new and improved lifestyle. I'm going to document my journey. I'm ready for a new me inside and out!!!!

Amazing little vegetarian haven. Great choices for vegans or vegetarians on the menu. They have a meatless alternative to popular American and Caribbean style dishes. They also sell juices and desserts that are vegan and sooo good. I recommend the chocolate cake.

What a wonderful experience eating here. This place is full of love and savory food. I was so impressed by their utensils and plates which were biodegradable. Zero waste is being practiced here and the people who work here are filled with so much compassion and great energy. Excellent service, unique style of different foods. We eat there every time we visit the area my family and I . We traveled as much as 1 hour each way to eat there. And the place never disappoints.
The staff is very friendly and Hakin, the owner is great host. He always stops by to say hello.
My wife and 4 kids love the Pizzas and the smoothies while I like everything, But especially the ginger chicken. So good!
I wish I lived closer. I would eat there every day.

Omg so my daughter is vegan and my son and I are not. We tried this place and my son got the vegan chicken meal and I the vegan chicken pizza, my daughter got the kale cashew burger. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. The gentleman was very down to earth and was really excited that we were excited about what we were about to experience. So my son was doubtful of what to get and he gave us a sample of the vegan chicken. Just blew us away and we ended up getting another one Togo. Definitely would recommend and we will go back.
Great vegan eats by Hakin! Love this place, great food, cool atmosphere. Grab some healthy food and enrich your body! The salad was crisp, very earthy, to perfection, and fresh with the vegan ranch being light and creamy, which made them a really great combination. Having a vegan ranch was definitely a great idea and taste amazing as well.
