Really great!. I was looking for an alternative to the usual turkey/ham Thanksgiving catering for our 24/7 office staff to be served on Thanksgiving day. Joe catered two turkeys, ribs, brisket, and a mountain of sides (including stuffing that was simply perfection to almost all who had it) for a very reasonable price. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, brisket was great, turkeys were.... well, turkeys. ( I would never have ordered roasted turkeys if weren't Thanksgiving) Everything was spectacular and the restaurant is like returning to one of the off-the-beaten-track places I've gone to in Virginia and the Carolinas. This will be come a regular stop for almost all 20 of us who enjoyed his food. Hoping we can do the same for Christmas.

Keep eatn. Tried it once and can't wait to do it again! bbq ribs were a pleasant surprise. meat was tender enough and sauce was thick and smokey. the place itself was barren, no one else was there which was awkward. it did have a kind of old rustic feel to it though.

Pretty Good for Restaurant BBQ. I was in the Sacramento area for business and as usual I was on the lookout for BBQ places. On a chance visit to the Aerospace Museum of California in McClellan (awesome but that's another story...) I started looking for lunch and Pit Stop BBQ showed up in my Blackberry GPS. It was only a few blocks away so obviously I was all over it!
Pit Stop is one of those little places tucked away off the main street. I usually like these the best and Pit Stop did not disappoint. I ordered a combo plate which gets you two meats and two sides. I tried the pulled pork which was tender, juicy and had good smoke. The texture was very good, not contest grade but for restaurant BBQ it was well above average. It may shock the health officials in California but it's just a fact that leaving the fat on this stuff when you slow cook it IS THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT. The pitmaster at this place GETS IT and the product had just the right amount of fat in there. My second combo item was the beef brisket. I was a little disappointed on this one. The parts that weren't drowning in BBQ sauce were very good - tender, juicy, good smoke flavor and good ratio of fat-to-beef BUT I just couldn't taste the meat for the sauce. This is really a shame because they did a good job on this brisket.
I understand that this is California and that they just do things differently here but good BBQ transcends location. If you have some skill and a little equipment you can make it right. Pit Stop got the meat right. Dialing back the sweetness on the sauce (and serving it on the side) will transform a very good BBQ into FANTASTIC BBQ.
I'm pretty sure I recognized the potato salad as standard food service stuff. The BBQ beans were pretty good but could use a little more seasoning (yes, I mean pork fat) during initial cooking. Try frying some hickory smoked bacon in the pot before adding the water and beans. That will give you the right start!
The service was great and the atmosphere was just right for a classic little BBQ joint (i.e., early American country diner.) The guy behind the counter when I got there was named Pablo. He was friendly, extremely helpful and answered all my questions about how they cooked the product. You really owe it to yourself to get out to North Highlands and try this place. Get your order with sauce on the side and let us know what you think! My personal thanks to Mr. Pablo.

Great food!!! The ribs, chicken and brisket were tender and flavorful. The coleslaw was a little dry for me and the beans were "OFF THE HOOK" (GOOD). This was my first visit but not my last. I forgot the young lady's name that came out and greeted me (Ryan) I think... she was very friendly. Can't wait to try the other deliciousness you guys have. Keep The Smoke Low And Will Keep Coming Back!!! P.S. Can't wait to watch football thereπŸ‘πŸΎ

I purchased a 2 plate with pulled pork, hot links, potato salad and beans as my sides. The food was delicious! I jad plenty to eat. I lovwd the smoky flavor of the pulled pork and the sweet taste of the potato salad. I also enjoyed the extra garlic bread that came with it. And it all delivered in a quick time frame and packaged well. I ordered it using the Seamless delivery app. I will be ordering again.

Pit Stop has some of the best bbq ribs in Sacramento....and their brisket and tri-tip are also amazing. Not too pricey, this little tucked away treasure off of Watt Ave. is a staple for the in-the-know locals, discover it for yourself! I've been coming here for years, and the new owners are friendly and dedicated to the idea of good food and happy people. One of my favorites!
