Utterly charming classic diner, owned by the same family since 1957. It's only open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. p.m. serving up breakfast favorites and delicious lunch, and people line up to get a coveted seat, especially the locals! Don't worry about the wait, it won't be too long. Eddy's chili is renowned, and not to be missed! And be sure to add the most amazing grilled onions we've ever tasted to your meal!
Saturday Breakfast at the Galley Cafe Newport Beach. Classic Neighborhood Corner Coffee Shop/Diner in every sense. This little diner happens to sit on the Marina though. If you like your classic diner food and a good cup of coffee shop coffee while rubbing elbows and having morning conversations with your local friendly neighbors, then this quaint little spoon will hit the spot for you.
I had eggs Benedict with hash browns and coffee. Service is fast and friendly. Experience is wonderfully nostalgic. Pictures and paintings of the building and incarnations of the cafe over the years plus pictures and paintings of past local Newport/Balboa celebrity and Hollywood Western Folk Hero John Wayne adorn the wall behind the coffee counter.
It was our first time to eat at this charming cafe located at a corner of a residential area overlooking the water with the view of small private boats that leads to Balboa Island. We were looking for a place that was open for an early breakfast and sure enough we were lucky to have discovered this gem. Mostly local patrons eat here but the food is amazing. Surely a must try for anybody in Newport Beach area looking for a great early breakfast experience.
Probably one of the best breakfast meals I’ve had and yes I’m a simple eggs, bacon and hash brown guy but not all breakfast is equal.
I’ve lived in OC for 22 years, barely heard about this place about 3 months ago. Came here with my great friend who told me about it and it was a blast. Felt like a time capsule. I had a chocolate malt that was mind blowing and a cheeseburger with fries. Very nostalgic, crazy low prices, and friendly service. I’m going back.
The galley is the cutest little breakfast place ever. With a beautiful view of the harbor, and the nice vinyl booths, it’s very nostalgic. And the food is exactly what you expect. Very delicious and reasonably priced. Be ready for a wait if you don’t get there early enough, and be sure if you want your bacon and crispy or you want your hashbrowns extra crispy that you really emphasize it.
This place is a must if you’re in the area!! I had the double chili cheese dog for breakfast which was super un healthy but absolutely incredible! Great views too of the marina!!!
What an amazing Newport Beach little little gem! 💎
It only seats like 30 people!
Great little 50's diner! John Wayne used to eat here all the time!
If I could give them more that 5 stars I would!
Best chili cheese omelet ever!
The food is so amazing here.
There is literally nothing bad on the menu.
And the service and entire staff are so nice!
Go! Eat! Enjoy! You won't regret it! Tell em Jerry sent you!

I LOVE this place! The servers are SO nice! And the cooks are AMAZING!
I had the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich today with their amazing chili poured over the top! Then I had them deep fry the hashbrowns like French fries in the fryer! O-M-G! SO, SO, SO GOOD! And my daughter had the tuna sandwich and loved it! It was packed with tuna! Great portion!
Food was absolutely delicious. The staff was helpful and very friendly as we arrived late. Made us right at home and gave great suggestions. Chili and loaded fries were delicious. French toast sandwich was fantastic. This is really a must visit.
Top notch breakfast/lunch spot. Food is excellent and has the usual dinner type breakfast and a few sandwiches. Overlooks a boat marina and the service is excellent. Very small so there may be a wait, but it goes quickly. No name list, just wait in line.
