As mentioned before, I've been multiple Avila's location.
I love how the staff at each location does an amazing job embracing you and making you feel like your family or friends. Even though it my 1st time visiting many of their locations for the first time.
When I think of real authentic Mexican food. Avila's comes to mind.

I ate here forty years ago and was excited to come back. The food is just as good as it was then. This part of California is kept clean and safe in comparison to what parts of California has become with crime and homeless issues. I highly recommend this place for great Mexican food and a nice atmosphere. 😋
I searched high and low all over Newport looking for great nachos. I found them at this location! Good location near the beach. Parking and crowd not an issue on a Sunday evening. The key to these nachos: Wet pinto beans about half way down the pile of homemade chips, and fajita style veggies on top. No cheap jar jalapeños either. Lots of cheese and carne asada. I almost polished them off, but I ate too many of their warm chips and salsa....which was also awesome....nice crunch and flavor. Wife had the cheese quesadilla which she likes. Service was good. Atmosphere was nothing super special, but they do have open windows which is a nice touch being near the beach. This was a very affordable place I will visit again if back in Newport. Have the nachos....they were GREAT!

The food is always delicious. I love Avila’s so much, and every time we visit Newport Beach, we always come here. It is because of one person. Her name is Angie. She is such a caring waitress and always greets guests with a smile on her face. Because of her kindness and lovely personality, she is the reason we come here every single time. Thank you, Angie!
Angie, your Sunday waitress is SUPER. We ( our family) live near 3 other Avila"s Restaurants, but we love Angie so much, her personality her carry for her customers and her ❤ is wonderful. Thank you for letting me share. We have been going to your Restaurant for many years.
Went in early afternoon for a drink only a few in so was quiet, didn't eat so can't comment but the service was excellent, the lady was friendly and welcoming and was informative of the area when we asked a couple of questions. Drinks a decent price and a really decent bar.
This is one of over a dozen locations, each location is the same but they are also just a little different. The chips and salsa is great, Fajitas are super yummy and the drinks are good.
Went here for Taco Tuesday since we often visit the CdM location for that. Unfortunately the NB location does not have any such celebration or specialties specials. Paying more for a single margarita than the price of dinner seems unfair. Not planning to visit again unless we're in a bind.
Nice and quick service. Clean atmosphere and fair price. Food is decent in a sorta authentic way. Not a blow you away original or authentic experience. But good food, decent price served fast and clean. As long as you have that in mind it will meet your expectations.
