This definitely has a lot going for it from authentic decor to great service. I enjoyed the food and would recommend coming here. I'm just not at a 5 on the food for this sort of beach/seafood fare. I only tried the clam chowder and cod skewers though, so for all I know there more expensive stuff might have impressed me more.

Fun place for seafood in Newport. Good food but my shrimp and scallop was a tiny bit salty but otherwise very good. Servíce was fast and friendly. They also have retail sales.

Iconic seafood restaurant in the middle of Newport Beach. A little touristy and the prices are high. $30 for half a Dungeness crab and sides. But it's fun and good.

Recently moved to this area and walked to Crab Cooker for dinner. Eclectic decor. We ordered crab cakes and mussels and oysters for appetizers. Crab cakes were good and not great only because they were fried. I come from the east coast and we have pan seared crab cakes which I like better. Personal choice. I loved the oysters and he loved the mussels. So we both ate what we wanted. I had Alaskan code on a skewer dinner with rice pilaf and mashed potatoes. I liked it. My son got scallops on the skewer with mashed potatoes and coke slaw. He loved his meal. For those who don’t like mesquite flavored smoked meats, this is not the place for you.

Great seafood here!! And, my waitress was awesome!! I accidentally timed dinner right as soon as I was done, I strolled out for the sunset, just as it was going to happen.

I was hoping for more in for food quality. Good, but not close to the best. Excellent service!

After all these years, it's nice to know some things don't change. The Crab Cooker has been an institution in Newport Beach for decades and is a "must visit" for first timers and veteran visitors alike. First time here in over two years and did not disappoint. Yummy food and friendly service. Cost about $60 per person, with appetiser and beer/wine plus entree. Funky harbor and nautical decor on the inside with fresh fish cooked over an open fire. Yes, still served on paper plates and plastic utensils, just part of the charm. Worth the visit. Make sure to look up when inside to see all the stuff, including the big great white shark hanging from the ceiling.

We had calamari, Smoked Fish Combination and Crabed Cakes with mashed potatoes. It looked like the amount of food was little less than what we were expecting. Overall, it was okay.

Over 50 yrs since my 1st visit, The Crab Cooker still lives up to it's famous reputation! I had the mouth watering Scallops and I'm still talking about them 1 week later. The service was swift and very friendly! Atmosphere is ideal! The 4 of us all loved our savoring our meals. Well worth the prices!
