It was my first time Tony's Bistro. I have to say the service was great. I ordered a large Stromboli, pepperoni, sausage and extra cheese. The waiter kept warning me are you sure you want a large. I said sure how what a large. Well from the photo you see how big their large are, I ate about a quarter of it. It had to drop the rest off to my adult son because I couldn't eat anymore. It was incredible I haven't had a stromboli that tasted that good in years.
Great dinner & dessert with top-notch, friendly service. Generous portions, I could tell a lot of thought and care went into the meal. Casual, modern Cafe look, overall a true gem for Newark.
Was looking for a good pasta restaurant for my takeout meal. The restaurant sheet which the hotel where I was staying gave me had several Italian places listed so I started googling those restaurants to see their menus and Tony's popped up (although it wasn't on the list). It seemed like the closest to the hotel so I ended up going there. Ordered their penne in vodka sauce along with a slice of lemoncello cake - the perfect combination!! The entree came with a salad and was a large portion of penne with one of the better vodka sauces I have tasted. The finishing touch was the lemoncello cake which was very creamy and had just the right amount of lemon tartness! Yum!!
Calimari is very good. Italian wedding soup is very good. The service and care for customers is also very good. Highly recommended and next time I find myself in Newark, I will explore the menu more.
Tony's pizza is the real deal. We love the Crab Alfredo pizza, but all their pizza's are delicious. The crust is what makes it so great. It reminds me of good boardwalk pizza. I only eat from family owned pizzerias, and Tony's is the best!
Update 2022: I've been coming to Tony's regularly for couple years now, it has been one of my go to lunch spots because it's right down the street from work. I've spent a good deal of money here. I'm not 100% sure but I believe they switched owners too, like another reviewer said. This USED to be my FAVORITE pizza spot, but the overall quality has gone down hill. It's just not as good as it used to be. There was a time it was worth the extra money (they ain't cheap). But not now. I'll probably continue to buy a slice now and then, but I feel like I lost a good friend. My search for the best pizza in Delaware continues.(Grotto's is re-crowned king until then)(can't we just get a Mack's?)
