Pao Da Terra is one of my favorite bakeries in New Jersey, they have a great selection of bakery and lunch menu. I love their coffee!! the tables are always clean. I love the Portuguese vibes in this place!!!

Tasting sweets, codfish pastries and juices. Was good but the place lacked in cleaniness and customer service. The place was not being kept up, and i only saw 2 ppl working behind the counter. But they ignored the customers while running around somewhat busy. They could had smiled or said something. When it got to our turn, after was like a yelling match bc they couldn't hear us or understand us. Even thou i spoke fluent Portuguese, they spoke Spanish. And NO, Portuguese isn't the same as Spanish or vice versa. I had to switch to Spanish so they could understand us. The place is Portuguese, had a Portuguese flag, but staff won't understand Portuguese or English. Could b better service and cleaniness.

Nice and cozy place staff is very friendly 😊 didn't stay long but had a good time. And let's talk about the sweet 😋 treats so many varieties and all look sooo good. I had a hot chocolate with almond croissant. Will definitely go back .

I used to love this place: delicious bread and pastries baked using a wooden stove. What's not to like? After my recent visit, I got served a burnt pastry & a ham and cheese sandwich for $8.80. Prices were increased for most items and the quality went down, unfortunately. I no longer recommend it based on my experience.

Order their large 'bolo de bolacha' and it was everything that I wanted!! Delicious and sumptuous!
As someone born and raised in Portugal 'Pão de Terra' is as close as you get to experience Portugal! I drive from Philadelphia to Newark to get their desserts.
Side note on the large 'bolo de bolacha': As I was driving back to Philadelphia, I had to make a hard brake because of a fast changing traffic light... From 55mph to 0, the cake box flies from the backseat into the back of my seat, and it survived all in one piece! Incredible!, never seen a cake that could withstand something like that. Just had a little indentation on one side.
Update: Ordered 3 cakes that were going to be for the celebration of 3 birthdays. Once again the quality of the cakes was outstanding and they were still fresh after 2 days of being in my fridge (I blocked any air from getting out of the boxes with tape and put them inside big ziplock bags).
See pictures of the cakes 2 days, 02Nov2021, after I picked them up.
