Review City Rub Smokehouse - Newark

I definitely recommend ! Although I was here as a vendor I have already made plans to return with my fiancé. My client had such great feedback and the ambience was on point. I really love this place. Good live music, good food and great drinks. The ribs risotto is my favorite along with the caipirinhas and coconut mojito. It can get pretty crowded on weekends. If you like real brazilian samba and a nice party this is the place to go

Have been here twice in less than 4 weeks. Really cute patio and fun variety of tasty cocktails. The patio is very close to a busy road. Pictured is the Watergate (I recommend the Berry Dope), Memphis style pork ribs and Boss Hog sandwich (sandwich was better than the ribs in my opinion).

From out of state headed to the airport, googled food in the area and this place was in the suggested. Wow!! I am SO happy that we stopped for dinner. Delicious cocktails and the food was INCREDIBLY yummy! At first look the parking lot looked small but doesn’t match the restaurant itself at all. Inside and outside was done up so nicely, a very chill setting! Hope to be able to stop in again someday!

I was excited to try this place out, maybe I went on a off day… the atmosphere and decor reminds me of Dallas (Texas) well put together perfect for your IG pictures and story. However we were very disappointed with the service and food . First our waitress took 20 minutes to come back for our drinks, we were sitting with just water. Second we order the same food and got our order mess up ( how when it’s the same order for 2) only one order come out right. So we had to wait another 15 minutes and my food got cold and still no drink order was taken because our waitress forgot us. I wouldn’t mind if it was a busy night , but it was not… we got there at 9:30pm it was raining so not many people there. Keep in mind they close at 11pm at 10:20pm we began to eat and I was very disappointed with the Mac and cheese I didn’t even eat it my food was cold because we were waiting on the other other. 10:25 we finally got our first drink, the waitress apologize for getting our order mess up and forgetting about us and our drink. We order our second drink and we didn’t get it until 11pm again the waitress forgot to put in our order, so now at this point we have to rush because they are closed. Now I’m very disappointed because I was hoping to get a taste of southern smoke house, again maybe we went on a off night

The ambiance of the place is nice with great drinks however, the food doesn't match the name. I was looking for some really good smokehouse bbq but the food wasn't that good at all. The brisket was very bland, the ribs were tender with little to no seasoning, and I'm not even going to talk about the side dishes because that's a whole other story (not good either). The buffalo wings were really good for an appetizer and the quesadillas were average (Wawa's are better) Overall for my experience, I would come here for good drinks and an appetizer. The name definitely doesn't live up to its standards thinking of some good bbq.

I stopped by for happy hour after work, the bartender Josue was very accommodating. He made me a very delicious spicy Margherita! (Not on the menu) I only had appetizers on this visit, but it was very yummy! I ordered calamari ( extra crispy) and deviled eggs. I must say for a simple meal they made the best version I've ever had. I will be back for entrees very soon and to experience the vibe at night. Nice place with outdoor seating, spacious, photos ops throughout even in the bathroom..lol had to take a pic 😉

Food was really lousy. Ordered the meal for 2 for $30.00. Came with 4 ribs that was just heated up 2 pcs of beef brisket also just warmed up. Pulled pork with no sauce and no flavor and 4 freakin potato wedges. BBQ beans were luke warm once u put it on your plate they are cold. Best of all the cole slaw had to much vinager I thought it had gone bad. Drove all the way to Newark and was very disappointed. Will not be going back. Famous Daves food always taste fresh not like heated up left overs.

Ok I'll be real. Ive been here at least 3-4 times since it was opened. I had really high hopes for this place. Every time I've been here I had ridiculous slow service. And the food was never on point I even ordered the so called favorites there and to-go orders. Also when it was NFL Season they never catered to the "American Football Fan" hopefully it gets better.

Horrible Horrible Horrible place the waiters completely ignore customers. Food takes so long. I don’t recommend this place. Waiters always disappeared. I’ll never go back there.

The decor is very detailed and casually elegant. The food was very good with the corn bread being the star of the side dishes. We wanted the brisket but they were out at 4pm on a Tuesday. The chicken and turkey and baby back ribs were very good. Our server Luca was very informative and attentive. He really likes his job and is very good at it. Overall the service was great, the food warm and delicious. We will be returning soon. We want to see the patio.

I think the food is amazing. My only issue is when we do parties, they don’t deliver what they sell to you. During Xmas time, a group of us got together there and it was supposed to be one price, when we got the bill, it was much higher than expected, we were charged a different price. We paid but I am not sure I would throw another party there unless it is paid before. Yesterday I was at a different party, although the beer was supposed to be incluided, they were holding back a lot. But I really like the food. I would recommend to eat, maybe be careful as far as having group parties there.

Great place and the variety of dishes makes it very different .... where in Newark can you get a good Shrimp and Grits, nice steak and smoked meat under one roof? It's totally worth a try.

My husband and I ordered the Beef Brisket and Beef Rib with sides of Mac and Cheese. The meat fell off the bone and the mac and cheese fell off of the bone. The ambiance is great. A diverse crowd. Looking forward to returning.

That's my new spot!!! I loved the ambient and the food was great ... something different and very well presented .... The waitress were very attentive ane was very pleasant. The place is a hidden secret off of the highway! Really enjoyed it! �

Great ambiance, delicious food and plenty of parking. They have a giant TV screen which is great for watching Sports, especially Brazilian club Flamengo games! The brisket is excellent, Picanha/Strip is delicious as well. Very cool scene.

We went during happy hour. Their wings are fantastic and smokey. Highly recommend their passion fruit mojito. Definitely will be going back.

Loved the quick service. The food taste good and the service was excellent also, specially Olivia. Price was right. Has parking and easy location to get from my home as well not to far. I'll tell some friends about this place. You won't be disappointed. Don't see how anyone could not like this place. It's Awesome!

the best place of the newark ...good food ,good people and nice ambient. you dont feel like you are in a typical bar in Newark.

I really like it. Food is good. Cocktails are really different. They have a good selection of beer on tap and my favorite Allagash white. Can't wait to try it again!

Love this place ....the smoked beef ribs and and blackberry martini is a must try....decor is really nice too... you dont feel like you are in Newark!!!
