Passed by to get some limited edition capsules and enjoyed some coffee too. The coffee is not to be rated yet the service was not the greatest. The place was almost empty yet the service was really slow. I really like this boutique though.
Nespresso coffee has two locations in the city. The one in Soho at 92 Prince Street is just a boutique selling the pods, coffee machines and accessories to make their superb coffee. Alas, it is no longer the relaxing cafe serving a variety of hot and cold coffee renditions and serving assorted sandwiches and pastries. I spent many an early evening sipping one of their superb cold coffees and eating a fancy cake and miss that a lot. That is now left to the location on the UES. However, here one can stand and have a coffee drink.
After my wonderful meal at Jean Georges , I took a leisurely stroll from Central Park West to SoHo, and found myself at the wifi-less Nespresso Cafe. I'd enjoyed the space during the press event a few weeks prior , but wanted to go back to see what the space was like normally. I was surprised to discover that it was a sit down cafe, with some light bites and table service… they really want you to focus on the experience of their espresso without distraction. I found out later that they don't even allow you to take their drinks to go! I can appreciate that, so I took a seat and settled in to enjoy some espresso. I have very limited experience with espresso, and find myself somewhat caffeine sensitive, so I was hesitant as I browsed the menu. I finally settled on liegeois; described as a shot of espresso poured over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, I decided it sounded like the Italian affogato.
