Happened to stay at the Radisson across the street and walked down the street filled with Korean restaurant and karaoke bars. Kunjip is as Korean as it gets. Ordered a spicy pork bibimbap which came with a tofu seafood soups and other condiments like kimchi plus the Korean ride wine - soju. The order was actually good enough for two and had to take away. Authentic fare with the hot stone pot species just right for my palate. Had a bizarre encounter though with another patron sitting next to me has a fight with his lady friend and left in a fit@ of rage. In the process he left his phone behind which I pointed out to the restaurant staff and some other customers seated next to me. The guy came back and, I suspect he was on drugs, accused me of trying to steal his phone. He screamed to all the guests that I stole his phone, tried taking my photo, called me a Pakistani and hurled abuses till the staff intervened and I asked them to call the police as he was getting physical. Fortunately I stayed calm but it messed up my evening. Advice to restaurant management - please don't let this customer in your restaurant again. He can make you lose a lot of business and your customers may not come back. The staff and guests apologized and felt sorry but the whole experience was bizarre.
Was venturing around Koreatown and found this place since the place across the street had a huge lineup. It was very busy and lots of the tables were filled. We waiting about 10 mins and got in. It's pretty small but didn't realize there was more tables upstairs. Food came out steaming hot and good, same expectations as to usual korean restaurants.
Authentic Korean food and an all authentic Korean experience when you eat there! Be prepared to wait in the street and even standing on the stairs at the restaurant if you go during actual dinner time... But trust me that's a sign of a truly spectacular meal that awaits you! The spice levels are perfect so don't dial down when you order... Also must try the hot pots!
Randomly choose this place in K-town but it was like finding a needle in a haystack. What a gem! The food is very, very delicious. Probably the best Korean food I have ever had. There was so much flavour in each dish. The service is lacking and you can literally see the servers running between the tables and the kitchen. They could definitely use more people on the floor. The worse thing about this place is that they rush you out and start taking dishes off your table before you are done otherwise I would have given them a five star rating.
Love the vibe and atmosphere for a late night spot, definitely a place to round out a night of drinking rather than to continue it as there is not a bar. Above average korean food, slightly high price for K-Town, the menu is expansive and can be very confusing for people not familiar with korean, but that is also a plus to weed out the touristy crowds. Will try a few more korean spots before returning but was worth the trip. Overall great late-night grub, not for dinner though.
Delightful food. My first Korean restaurant, and I loved it. The service was ridiculously good, and prices are a bit high, but manageable. I want to bring my family. The meat was amazing, and I loved the appetizers and bibim bobs. Can't wait to return. The bad reviews are probably competing Korean restaurants using blackmail, so screw them. GG
A trip to NYC isn't complete without a meal in Koreatown. Stopped in for a late lunch and was seated immediately. My lunch special of Bibimbap came with a bowl of spicy soup and 7 sides; enough to feed me and three or four others. And it was delicious!! Washed down with an OB, it was definitely a lovely eating experience.
Amazing food, Unique restaurant.. When in NYC for work, I went to Kunjip for dinner with a friend. The place isn't particularly welcoming to those who aren't familiar with the long wait, cramped seating and INCREDIBLE FOOD. You queue up, order and then wait to be seated. The wait is not for the faint of heart - or the hangry. You sit down, and immediately, you get gads of flavorful goodies that weren't part of what you ordered - and they're great. You get your food and beverages very quickly after being seated, and the food itself makes everything better. I highly recommend this place despite the unique type of service and the long wait. It's a fun and different experience!
Enjoyed. I really enjoyed my meal at Kunjip. The food was fast, the beer was cold, and the service was friendly. I live outside of the city and all of my tablemates live in the city and none were particularly thrilled with the food. I'm relatively new to Korean cuisine and found it quite good at Kunjip.
NYC: Kunjip. Fantastic Seafood Pancake! Crispy, slightly soft on the inside, not sitting in a pool of oil like most places in order to acheive crispiness. Crave their pancakes all the time. Have yet to find anything that comes close to their pancake since visiting them!
Had dinner with hubby on Saturday night. We were looking for a restaurant that had cold noodles and bbq. When we arrived the host told us to go upstairs so we thought we'd get seated right away but there were a few people waiting. The cold noodles were refreshing and the marinated beef ribs were delicious. Sometimes they give you ribs with too much fat or with too little meat but these ribs were plump and juicy.
Oh so good. I can not say enough nice things, they even had someone cook the meat for us. Medium rare to PERFECTION. Restaurant was clean, staff so friendly and curteous. Again, the food is SO GOOD.
not sure why the reviews here are so mixed, I really loved dining here! the food comes out fast and it’s delicious, the ban chan is fantastic, and the prices are unbeatable! I loved the spicy tofu stew. will definitely be back again!
I usually come to this area for Korean food but had never tried this restaurant before, so so so glad I did this time around. Everything tasted amazing!! There are complementary sides that get refilled the moment you finish them and a complementary tea after you are done your food too. The staff works fast and are very polite! Very great experience, I highly recommend.
Had the Gobdol Bibimbob & Soup Lunch Special two weeks in a row! So delicious! The restaurant provides various small appetizers as well & some of them were different from the previous times I had eaten there (been going here for 16 years). Very reasonably priced lunch special for the large amount of food.
I like the upstairs dining room better because I enjoy a bit more ambiance. The service up there was great. Everyone was attentive, quick, & it certainly was a team effort to get everything to me.
I'm craving the food as I write this. Will most definitely be back soon!
Went to eat dinner with my partner, it was excellent. One of the best Korean meals I've had, and the staff was very helpful when it came to questions about the menu as well. Special mention should also go to the speed at with the staff was working, as it took less than 5 mins from the order to the meals arriving and any other request ver done equally fast.
If you're around Koreatown, this definitely is worth a visit!
