Always great service and food. Excellent fish and chips! The best sangria. Really happy to hear you are staying. About the best neighborhood place in NYC.

I have been going to Coogan's for 21 years and never been disappointed in the food or the service. Yesterday, I had Bangers and Mash and ate every bite. I think their Big Brunch Special is the best deal in Upper Manhattan. Never go wrong with a burger, my personal favorite is Captain Jack's. Very friendly and relaxed environment.

This restaurant is very close to NY Presbyterian. Me and my wife went there on Friday night and the place was half full, but no complains. I don't like crowded places anyway. The hostess and our server were very nice and the service was fast. I had captain jack burger and my wife had fish and chips. Both were really good. We would go there again.

Lesson Learned. One of the first things I learned from professors in graduate school was get to the Coogan's family. I often run into professors and doctors during lunch on Thursday and Friday. I use Coogan's for everything- great for lunch or dinner when my family visits, business lunches or if I need to relax after a stressful week. ( $5 cosmos all weekend)

Over the past 2 years I have probably had everything on the menu but have to say my favorite is the Capt Jack burger(with a pint of Guinness) or the horseradish salmon.
Whether you're living in the heights or just passing through Coogan's is a must!

Good place in W.h.. The thing I love about Coogan's is that I can drink and then walk home instead of wasting money on cab fare. It has average decor and average service. The food is reasonable priced, but mostly greasy or forgettable.

I used to love going here after nursing school to relax and have a drink or two. They have 80's karyoke on Thursdays which can be a lot of fun. This place is often crawling with cops, paramedics, nurses, and firefighers. This can be a lot of fun if you are single!

While this is not a trendy spot by any means, it is a perfectly acceptable place to hang out, especially for Washington Heights.

I liked this place, and isn't that enough? I could've given it five stars but the food was alright, but better than I expected for a sports bar kinda place. The atmosphere is nice, the service was good, I didn't really enjoy the random drunk person going around to tables to make new friends, but what can ya do? It's a good place to watch a sports game and you'll be satisfied enough with the food while you're there and that's all that really matters.

Nice local spot, probably the best in the area. Nice bar, simple menu and friendly people. All you really need. Try the simple items on the menu, this is not a salad place 😀. Fried food is good. Nice spot to watch games. Big bar.

This place is the epitome of all the things you love about Washington Heights - family, friends, good food, great ambiance, every culture and background sitting together for a beer! Get the calamari and the onion soup! And the hot chocolate! And the chicken pot pie!

If you are looking for a friendly Irish "joint" with good staff and first-rate food, this is your place. It's a bit of a trek uptown, at least for a mid-town Manhattan resident, but the subway drops you off one block from the front door. Lots of room - it's a relaxed and comfortable place to eat and drink and visit with friends. The service was great and COLD beers and the atmosphere was a blast. we had some new teammates along, their first time in Coogans and at Millrose Games, so overall a great time!! We were the Greater Philly team enjoying our post race feast.

If you have the slightest interest in track-and-field this is the place to go it regularly is very visited by aspiring athletes, collegiate standouts and Olympic medalists on a regular basis. The armory located one block to the West is home to the fastest track in the world. Where does everyone go after the track meet? Why Coogan's of course

Food is ok. Fresh chicken fiesta taco salad bowl and cone beef sandwich. It’s a little expensive for salad bowl. Good place for lunch near Columbia medical center. Very friendly wait staff.

Coogans was a pleasant and delicious surprise. We came earlier in the evening on the weekend and it was a quiet spot to have a good meal. The restaurant is well-arranged and clean. And the staff was very friendly. Pictured (my apologies for the poor lighting) is the shepherd’s pie. This shepherd’s pie uses ground beef and lamb. I’ve had and prefer stewed meat, so I went in with some low expectations. I’ll wholly admit that was a foolish notion. The shepherd’s pie was fantastic! It was full of flavor! If I’m in the area again, I will definitely come to Coogans. If you are nearby, check it out!
