We visited John's of Times Square on the advice of my Sister in law, who visits when she's in New York City. The restaurant is housed in an old church, with four brick pizza ovens installed on the back wall on two floors. There is a nice bar up front when you walk in, and a nice large dining room in the rear of the building. We started with some locally made lager beers on tap and a big, beautiful antipasti salad. The drinks and salad were served promptly by our server. The salad was crisp and delicious, with lovely little pinwheels of Soppressata and mozzarella. The house-made dressing was superb... Tangy and tossed perfectly into the salad. Mains were two large pizzas...One was pepperoni, mushrooms and (according to my bride) "REALLY GOOD sun-dried tomatoes". My pie was meatballs and pepperoni. Both pizzas had crispy, flavorful crusts, robust marinara sauce and ample toppings. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get over to John's of Times Square, but don't try to pop in for a slice.. Only whole pies are sold here 😁

Amazing pizza and great atmosphere. The whole place looked stunning, with an amazing feeling. The staff were average and friendly. I got a salad which was good. It was fresh and refreshing, with a bit of spice which gave a nice contrast to the salad. The dressing was acidic and added great depth to the overall flavor. The pizza was amazing. The actual pizza was crispy but also soft. It gave an initial crunch, but was soft on the inside and the cheese mixed well with the tomatoes and basil. The crust was alright, not amazing but not horrible. Pretty average, maybe slightly above. It was too crunchy, more like a Olive Garden bread stick than a crust but it was still good. Overall amazing food and environment.

Who would think that in the middle of Times Square there would be a great pizza place in an old converted church. Well here it is. The owners renovated an old tabernacle church and are serving the best coal fired pizza. Everything is made to order so plan on sitting for awhile as you watch the pizza makers make your pie. Trust me… the pizza is the best and this is my favorite pizza in NYC.

The history of this place is what's so captivating. I highly recommend to go read about it on their website. The service here makes you feel like an important customer. Even when you order take out. They are fast and efficient. Ample, ample room especially for NYC. The pizza is delicious. The traditional slice has a subtle sauce which works together with the cheese. They went a little to heavy on the basil for the Margherita but I still enjoyed it. Takeout comes with Parmesan and crushed pepper. And let me tell you, the best Parmesan and crushed pepper I've ever had. NO SLICES btw

Good pizza. I would try to tone your visit during an off hour. Like a brunch or a linner time. It gets very busy. The building used to be an old church. It's very cool inside.

The pizza was very good. It was not too soft or floury, the crust was so good, I usually don’t eat crust. Service was good, nothing extraordinary, but it is a busy place. It had a great atmosphere and inside a beautiful building. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. I think it’s a must when in NYC.

Beautiful place! Only my third time ever. Good tasting pizza, but a little too much flop IMO. We asked for "thin and crispy" and server said "that's the only way we make em", but still came out too soft if you ask me. Calamari was very good. Good service overall. Host was fantastic, better than server. Pricey of course because of location. Beers are totally overpriced. Pizza toppings overpriced. Still, worth a visit at least once if visiting Times Square. I still prefer the Bleeker St. restaurant because the pies are crispier. I know technically they're not the same ownership because of the family split and lawsuits, but obviously there's a shared history and recipes. You say "whole pies", I say "no slices".

We came to John’s of Time Square right after the show, we were sited right away. We had the Margarita Pizza and the Mozzarella ricotta pizza it was excellent flavors where amazing and crust to perfection. We also had the Spanish salad and the dressing was great! The place inside is beautiful.

I had eaten at John’s previously but not since being diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease in 2015. I ordered a takeout gluten free pizza with pepperoni and requested it extra crispy. The crust was fresh, airy and impeccably crisp. It had the perfect proportions of sauce, cheese and pepperoni making it truly delectable. The aromatic zest was truly mouthwatering making each bite better than the previous! It was the ideal size (10”) and left me satisfyingly full but not feeling like I ate too much. Overall this pizza was truly amazing and has earned a place in my top 3 gluten free pizzas of all time. I highly recommend it and will definitely go back there again, two thumbs up!!! 👍👍

It's a good restaurant, good food and a very interesting location (an old 1800s church I believe). The only very minor complaint would be the service. It took a few goes to get their attention to take our order, and then when we wanted to pay the bill and go, we were again waiting for some time. I kinda wish they were just a little more attentive. But the food was great, the atmosphere was great and the service wasn't terrible - once we managed to get their attention. The garlic rolls were amazing!!
