Love brunch at Cascabel! Love everything at Cascabel. Such a great vibe... Decorated with portraits of the great Mexican wrestlers...totally luchador-able.
Excellent margaritas, both frozen and regular in inspired flavors. My personal fave is the watermelon basil.
Come for fiesta happy hour M-F for half price margaritas and specials on food..
The tacos are also inspired filled with meats including Berkshire pork and pork belly. And don't miss the Mexican street corn! And the radishes!
Love tacos? , Love Cascabel... If you're near Columbia University don't miss it for food from lunch through the evening and brunch on the weekends. Or just come from anywhere for some of the finest Mexican street food in NYC.
I actually was invited by one of my best friends to come here for a date. Because it is my first time, let me tell you what I think. First off, the staff are real friendly in there and we were seated right away. The brunch was good as I ordered the breakfast bowl and that was soooo good. Add the mimosas and the passion fruits and it was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend coming here and giving it a shot to impress you.
I started off with a pork gordita. This was pretty incredible in that it is served on a homemade masa bun. Masa is the cornmeal used in tamales. It was amazing. It took me back to my ama's. In a typical gordita in the states it would come with a regular flour roll. This is 10 times better. The pork is a thick slab of. Delicious ham. The only down part is the sweet icky bbq sauce. Mexicans dont eat bbq sauce.
I ordered a 2nd drink calked "No Hablo Ingles" - a spicey mango tequila drink. It was ok. Spicey drinks are hard. Either too spicey or too sweet.
The Baja fish tacos were ok. Fried fish is not my favorite. The tacos are topped with basically coleslaw made with too much mayo. The tortillas were decent though.
Go for the gordita. Ask for it with no sauce and add hot sauce yourself.
The food is kinda pricy, but the trip is worth it for the margaritas/Bloody Marys. They just do cocktails right here. The brunch is also good with the pancakes con huevo being my favorite. The guacamole is some of the best you can have in the city. Get it spicy! It's an excellent neighborhood spot.
Loved the lunch special in which I chose the quinoa salad and fish tacos. Very decent price plus a tasty jalapeño margarita and great service. Thank you!
Fantastic food and drinks with fair prices, especially during happy hour. Friendly and attentive staff. Airy and well decorated, creating an atmosphere that made us want to stay.
Great Mexican food, you won’t be disappointed. Also check the all you can eat special on Mondays after 5pm.
Great location good food, offers nice menu & Drinks 👌
I remember last year when I went to the Cascabel Taqueria that I have so many Mexican cuisines
I got pomegranate hibiscus margarita and Baja fish burrito. The margarita looked pretty and had a spicy, smoky, salted rim, but the flavor was underwhelming. I would have liked a larger drink with distinctive pomegranate and tequila flavor, but it didn't taste much like either. The burrito was delicious. The fish was crispy til the last bite, and I loved the additional ingredients, especially arugula. The sweet potato fries as a side dish were perfect.
