Review Le Marais - New York City

D F
Le Marais is just different. The OG Kosher steakhouse in NYC. Food is absolutely superb and prices are… ACTUALLY AFFORDABLE 🤯 ! It does get quite busy, and the decor is definitely antique to say the least - but for an excellent meal, quick and efficient service, and the best prices in town - very highly recommended! Oh, forgot to mention, best steak I’ve ever had!

Great food at great prices! Very attentive and friendly staff!

It was a really good place to eat. The service was great as well as the food. In terms of the customer base, I saw more business professional people eating in the restaurant. Also, there are 2 bathrooms located inside the restaurant.

The ambiance at Le Marais strikes the perfect balance between refined elegance and a welcoming atmosphere. The dim lighting, tasteful decor, and attentive staff create an upscale setting that immediately sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. What sets Le Marais apart is its ability to maintain this level of sophistication while remaining surprisingly affordable. The menu at Le Marais offers a range of options, from mouthwatering steaks to delectable appetizers and sides. Despite the upscale setting, the prices are refreshingly reasonable, making it a standout choice for those seeking an upscale dining experience without the hefty price tag typically associated with high-end steakhouses. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the food. The quality of the steaks at Le Marais is nothing short of exceptional. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, each bite is a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. The menu caters to a variety of palates, ensuring that there's something for everyone, from steak enthusiasts to those seeking lighter fare. What truly impressed me was that despite the affordability, Le Marais does not compromise on the quality of ingredients or the attention to detail in presentation. The dishes are artfully crafted, and each element on the plate contributes to a harmonious and satisfying dining experience. The service at Le Marais further enhances the overall experience. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive, providing a level of service that complements the restaurant's upscale ambiance. Le Marais has succeeded in creating a space where diners can indulge in an upscale kosher dining experience without breaking the bank. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual night out, Le Marais stands as a testament to the fact that culinary excellence and affordability can coexist without sacrificing quality. I highly recommend Le Marais to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in the heart of NYC.

Iconic Kosher steakhouse / French bistro that always delivers a good time! Been half a dozen times over the years and the steaks are always juicy and flavorful, while the apps and sides complement the entrees perfectly. Services is good and wine choices are solid and reasonably priced. My favorite kosher steakhouse in the city!

This is, unquestionably, the home of my favorite steak in the world. The steak for two is simply the best tasting kosher steak in the world. As it so happens, the steak for one is also delicious but needs to be prepared when the restaurant isn’t busy or else they have a tendency to over cook the steak. The soups are always spot on and the deserts are phenomenal. I have not tasted many of the fowl dishes. Also of note is the service. You can be in and out quickly and they are quite attentive to your dining needs. (Photos added in 2023, steak for two and lamb chili. Go to options if you’ve never had. Could be the steak for two is the top kosher steak in any restaurant in New York.)

Le Marais is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Their braised lamb shank is what my dreams are made of. I've never once had a bad dining experience here and I come here whenever I can after seeing a show or just in midtown. The prices aren't cheap but well worth the expense for a great treat and amazing customer service.

Excellent kosher French food, excellent portions, excellent value. Was really surprised with how nice of a dining experience I had here. I will absolutely be back soon. Thank you to all the kind staff that made my dinner memorable.

Great meat. We had the entrecĂ´te, and couscous merguez, really good. Nice and professional waiters. We didn't realise it was a kosher restaurant, so we didn't know the meat would be a bit more salty than normal, but it was still delicious. Whether you are looking for kosher or not, it is a place to go.

Amazing food and surprisingly not too expensive!!! Our waiter was so nice we all laughed a lot. She gave us a perfect service. Everything was perfect!

Delicious dinner. I like the rib eye which is similar to the prime rib less much of the fat, bone and the surprise. It's a hearty piece of meat, cooked medium rare, it's flavorful and juicy with an easy bite. The la surprise is a small delicate thin steak with lots of flavor and fork tender. The service was prompt and attentive.

We came back with the kids this year and my son said it's the best entrecote he ever had. Video attached. Great French restaurant with a very good service. The place is kept in its original state that has some charm. We took the rib and the entrecote, both were really well prepared and very tasty. We also took Le Marais Cabernet Sauvingon wine that is from California and is great as well. The price was more than correct for what we ate around 75 dollars each. It would definitely be a new address for us at NYC.

old school french bistro it happens to be kosher and you will see a lot of jewish people inside but don’t let that intimidate you if you are not jewish- the food, service and vibe is excellent! it’s worth it.

Hubby and I were here last night for dinner. We were running late because of traffic and had a show planned after dinner. When I told the hostess that we were on a time crunch she made sure the waitress took our order immediately. The staff was amazing and the food is delicious.

A quiet place with good food in the middle of Manhattan!! On top of that, the service was great, knew all the dishes on the menu!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. They have very affordable prices for a kosher steakhouse and the food is sooo good. The service is also really good - if you have any concerns or questions, they’re always glad to answer. I highly recommend this spot

The worst kosher steakhouse I have ever been too, from service to quality of food. It’s a shame... only good thing about this place is location.. and still I would travel further, not worth my time and money. Trust my opinion, I’m eating in kosher restaurants only. To make a long story short- I was kicked out of this restaurant with my 6 months old baby who was snacking from his Gerber tiny banana bites (totally kosher).. Plus I was asked to pay for the food I never received since they kicked me out before it even arrived to my table.. Ridiculous story, servers, kashrut observer and manager were so rude and disrespectful I can’t even find the words to describe.. never again!

Just went yesterday. For Passover meal. I really felt like we went thru Egypt. Waited about 40 years for our food. And wasn't even good. Also the server was really not helpful. We asked her several Times to reccomend maybe an appetizer (since we were waiting HOURS for our meals. All she said in a laughing way "everything is very simple and reellt not appetizing. Because is holiday" So ok I get it. Is holiday. But...... most all kosher for Passover restaurants manage. Here I really felt we went thru Egypt , Jordan and Siria for S meal. And I'm not joking.

Wonderful meal. The prime rib was excellent as was the smoked duck. The bacon was very crispy and went well with the wagyu beef sliders

We went there after our late arrival to the city, with 2 of my friends. We had to beg for everything and and had to wait almost 96 minutes to get the food and had to remind them the bottle of wine. 3 times in order to get it and were treated like garbage. I would never go there again.

Rib eye was great, dipping olive oil so aromatmic and tasty!! Service was good, we had a very nice waiter, Stefan (cute!) Reasonable prices for kosher steak!
Esther Feinstein Katz
I always really like the food there, and the service is great. We had a show in the city and they got us in and out in in less than an hour.

I took my best friend out for his birthday, as we are both Kashruth Observers. The service was superb! The waiter and busboy were quite attentive and pleasant. The food value, however, was much to be desired, for the money spent. I requested a medium-rare steak that was almost raw. It was tough to cut, as well. The French fries were similar those found in fast good establishments, as was the presentation. There were some nice things, such as the waiter being thoughtful about putting a candle on my friend's dessert. Overall, I can only, unfortunately, give this experience 2 stars. I was very disappointed.

Perfect place for pre-theatre Kosher dinner. I usually enjoy their great steaks, but last night I savored the delicious duck breast. They have the BEST French fries in town!
Joseph Akers
I really like this restaurant. I have been here 3 times and it doesn't disappoint. My wife is lactose intolerant so a kosher French restaurant is fantastic.
Matt Bob
Food is excellent. I had Margeret de Canard. I love duck and this has an anise infusion simply wonderful. Desert was a strawberry mousse and chocolate cake. The lightness of the mousse offset the chocolate cake. It was a well balanced creation.

Always great food and atmosphere. Just off of Times Square.

Great Kosher steakhouse located in the heart of Times Square. Try the homemade beef jerky, you won't be disappointed. This is a must for anyone visiting NYC that needs a premium dining experience to take Clients out.
