I discovered Sinigual, a contemporary Mexican restaurant located Midtown East, a couple of months ago and we decided to go back with my nephew, certain that we would have a great meal there, our first experience being very positive. This place is fairly big, with the open kitchen in the back, and, in contrast to the previous time we went, it was packed! The negative was that they were definitely understaffed, but the food was worth the wait.
Great place for a girls night out. Food was delicious and we had one of the best red sangrias ever. The BBQs shrimp dish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The yucca fries crispy and salty. Everything was great. My only complaint would be that it was a little loud so I would not recommend it for an intimate dinner.
Being from New Mexico I'm pretty picky about Mexican food. I realize it's "Mexican" not "New Mexican", so with that in mind I'd say it was good. Flavorful food and friendly staff. I'd eat here again.

Tasty and inspired...don't miss!. We were visiting NYC for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and had one evening without plans. In the mood for something spicy, we decided on Sinigual, mainly because it was walking distance from our hotel.
What a pleasant surprise!! We'll make plans to come back here for certain in the future. It was even BETTER than our previous night's experience at a popular celebrity chef's restaurant, which we thought was pretty good at the time!
We went on a Saturday night, and even without a reservation we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was pleasant and attentive, with a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in making the experience a good one for us. She made some suggestions on menu items, and all of her recommendations proved excellent.
One of her choices, which I'm glad I tried, was the chipotle barbecue shrimp...plump and spicy, with a lip-smackingly tasty sauce and tender roasted veggies. Beautiful presentation, too! Hubby tried a fire-roasted veggie and cheese chile relleno as a starter, and it was even better than her description.
We selected two of that day's specials (fresh catch and scallops) as our entrees and these were both exceptional. We were practically licking our plates!
For dessert, hubby chose Tres Helados and I opted for the deep-fried ice cream. Both were scrumptious, and left us truly satisfied.
The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the decor tastefully festive and inviting. We were surprised it was not more crowded, but we hope it doesn't become too popular as folks catch on to this gem, because we definitely plan to return.
Amazing guacamole. Really enjoyed the food here. The service was top notch and the table side made guacamole may have been the best I've ever had.
I went with a co worker who also loved their meal. I ordered a pineapple/mojito type drink and while strong it was delicious. This place was recommended to me and it did not disappoint.
Good good, but a bit pricey. The least they could do is hire hotter waiters to stare at while you wait, just a suggestion..
Grilled Breast of Chicken. Is what you must order. It's not typical mexican fare, but it is far and away the best chicken dish I have ever had an any restaurant ever. The chicken itself is tender and flavorful, but it's not the star of the dish. The star of the dish is this orange-achiote sauce that was absolutely without-exaggeration the most delicious sauce you will ever have. It also comes with mashed potatos mixed with corn, which if you've ever been a little kid, should sort of excite you. I would honestly go back to New York just to eat this again.
Sinigual exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and had great flavors that differentiated it from the food you’ll find at a more traditional Mexican restaurant. While it’s a little on the pricey side (the filet mignon enchiladas cost $25-$30), the food is worth it and I definitely want to come back whenever I’m craving Mexican food again. Go check it out!
This place was wonderful. The service from the moment we walked in was top tier. Our server was so personable and also made great suggestions. The food was delicious, however, our steaks were a bit over cooked. Experience was too positive to make an issue so we just ate it. Would visit again.
Solid place. Enjoyed the food and drinks. Service was good. Only feedback is drinks taste great just need a full shot of tequila in them. Fajitas seasoned so good, but too dry/overcooked. I would still go back.
I had an delightful dinner with my best friend at SinIgual thanks to my server Luigi, who provided truly exceptional service. He anticipated every need, keeping water glasses full, quickly serving courses, and checking on us at just the right times. Luigi warmly recommended the guacamole and combo plate, guiding us to make mouthwatering choices. However, his friendly and attentive charm is what truly made the evening special. Luigi created a welcoming, enjoyable experience that matched the tasty cuisine. I will definitely return to enjoy both the tasty food and Luigi's wonderful hospitality at this gem of a restaurant. His first-rate service deserves the highest recommendation. If you wanna try Mexican classics I would say any of the combos!
I noticed this restaurant because it is on my way to work and I always see people outside the restaurant. I decided to go with my partner to spend the arrival of Christmas and it was the best plan. I ordered some chicken fajitas and believe it or not, the onion that accompanies the chicken tastes very good. My partner ordered a roast beef with chimichurri accompanied by eggplant and the meat with the chilichurri was delicious and the eggplants gave it an excellent flavor, it really exceeded my expectations. The tortillas that accompanied ours felt fresh. In addition to this we ordered some caramelized fruit flautas and fried ice cream for dessert. My favorite was the fried ice cream, it tasted like a churro. The atmosphere is very familiar, so if you have children I recommend it. Plus the music was nice. The waiter was very kind to us.
Second time there. Food is excellent! We had a short wait for our table (with a reservation) because the pace was packed. But the host/hostess were very nice and apologetic. Our server was great - didn't feel rushed at all. Will definitely be back
Very nice place. We usually go on happy hours and we are never disappointed. They offer great cocktails.
Food is also delicious, all the starters maim dishes and salads are so good.
Love the general ambiance
I made a reservation for last night and throughout the meal, my server Luigi anticipated my needs before I even had to ask. My water glass was always full, my food came out quickly, and he checked in at just the right times. With my family we decided to ask for a table side guacamole to start and for the main course our server convinced us to ask for the combos of four , we highly recommend choose the steak taco and the tamales. Luigis friendly personality also enhanced the dining experience
By the end of the meal, I was thoroughly impressed by the top-notch service. The food was delicious, but Luigi’s attentiveness and charm made the night extra special. I will definitely be returning to SinIgual and requesting him again - he is an asset to the restaurant. I cannot recommend this gem of a restaurant or Luigi’s incredible service highly enough!
This is an awesome place. Really amazing food and service, exquisitely crafted drinks - but the star of the show is Luigi who has served us now on three different occasions - he has a great sense of humor, and explains the menu items very patiently to those who are unfamiliar with Mexican cuisine. He would make recommendations if you are having trouble deciding and because he listens well to what you like - they are ALWAYS spot on. So enjoy this restaurant - it will be good no matter which server you get because food is very nice, but you’re in for a special treat if you get Luigi. By the way, You can see him in one of the photos attached.
My partner and I had a great time at Sinigual. The food and drinks were delicious. The restaurant was very busy but to our surprise the staff was very accommodating and waited on our table very attentively. Our service was outstanding. We ordered the table side guac and it made me feel like I was back on the Riviera Maya at our families villa. The margarita’s were very tasty. I would ask that the happy hour menu online have more visible restrictions since it’s only available at the bar and we weren’t aware of that before arriving. I enjoyed my veggie fajitas but do wish that there was a larger selection of vegan meals. I would absolutely return.
Delicious Mexican food in the Midtown East area. Perfect for after-work casual dinners. Large portions so expect to feel very full!
