LOVED this place, I don't know why more people don't talk about it but then it would turn into a tourist trap I suppose. Had a great sandwich for breakfast. Sat at the counter which was very nostalgic. Staff was super friendly and talkative. My sandwich came out without it's bacon and it was fixed quickly and professionally. HIGHLY recommend! Prices are very affordable.

I don't know why the Astro Diner is not rated higher on Google reviews. It is by far the best non-touristy diner on the west side of Midtown. They have a very large, diverse menu, and the food is great. I've eaten here many dozens of times, and while the decor inside is nothing special, the experience has been fantastic on every single occasion. The service, specifically up front at the bar area, is the best. We had the carrot cake for dessert this visit, and it was out of this world. Maybe the best carrot cake that we have ever had!

First time to New York City. Looking for a straight forward breakfast with Something a could eat on the menu. Thus restaurant was perfect. Service was quick. Staff was polite. Prices were reasonable. Food was excellent. Going back tomorrow. Extremely busy but efficiently managed. 5 star
