Papaya King - New York City - Photo album

Hot dog was good, but didn’t feel like it was anything too spectacular. The mango juice was amazing, the papaya juice was just okay. Biggest challenge is eating your hot dog once you buy it. No where to sit besides the outside benches by the road. Tried a lot of hotdogs while on my trip to NYC - Di
This place had amazing hot dogs. The NY onions were pretty good - I'd describe them as onions with ketchup and vinegar. The kraut, of course, was delicious. We ordered some curly fries and they were not cooked well at all. It was as if the oil wasn't hot enough and they were pulled way too early. T
The history of this place is pretty interesting and worth the reading. I came mostly for the hot dog, which may not be the best, but are pretty good for American hot dog standard and the price range. The curly fries are awesome. Do keep in mind that you should expect ordering takeout, since there is
Went here reading the reviews...definitely the hotdogs are worth a try. Hot, nicely spiced and with condiments...it's a good bite. The papaya juice is also good. They don't have a place to sit and enjoy them, that's the only call out I have.
A nice afternoon mini lunch treat as the hot dogs were tasty and firm to the bite. Toppings were generous and while the sour kraut was a bit too sour for my taste, but the iron relish was my favourite. Combo set at 9.99 + were higher 'priced' than Gray's Papaya (2 hot dogs vs 3 at Gray's), but tast
Im not a hot dog fanatic but if Anthony Bourdain came here and enjoyed the hot dogs well I should also try to give them a chance. I got: 1. 2 Franks hot dogs with NYC onion and the other with relish and they were very good, didn’t expect that. The sausage’s good and the onion also has a sweet flavor
Me and my bf heard about this place from a YouTube video and decided we had to go check it out while we were on vacation in NJ. So we went all the way into the city just to go here and it was totally worth it! The hotdog with onion sauce is soooo good and the papaya juice compliments it perfectly fo
Don’t be fooled by imitations. Papaya King is the original hot dog joint to offer a papaya drink. The hot dogs here are delicious, it has a nice crunch and snap as you bite into the hot dog. The onion sauce gives it added flavors. The sauerkraut is also a good choice. The papaya drink helps wash dow
Corner spot. Get your dog & drink. Stand where Anthony stood & enjoy! Nice snap with each & every tasty bite. Corn dog is carnival worthy. Curly fries with ketchup to break the monotony. Finish with the papaya drink.
Quick and easy spot for some casual lunch. Heard about the impending demolition and had to visit for the first time to pay tribute. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the jumbo sausage with peppers and onions, curly fries, and a small papaya drink. The sausage was great. Savory and juicy with a soft
***Update: upon hearing this place is up for demolition, I feel sorry such an iconic place is gonna be gone soon.*** With all the hype, we expected more. The hot-dogs were underwhelming taste-wise, prices were OK for NYC but the size of the dogs is very small, actually. Two dogs will suffice quanti
This place is one the most authentic food spots in NYC and an absolute must when doing a food tour of the city. The hot dog isn't probably anything spectacular but the juices are really nice and interesting and the combination and the atmosphere and history makes for a unique experience.
Definitely a must go place whenever in NYC. Everything about Papaya King is so iconic: the atmosphere (it’s a little tiny corner with less than 10 spots to sit), the hot dogs, the papaya juice, the tourists and locals togethers. I visited Papaya around Oct/Nov ‘22 and heard that was about to close
Not the best pics BUT definitely the best taste in town Savory hot dog with crispy curly fries and with a papaya juice to wash it down. What more can a man want. Btw..u come here for the food... Not the atmosphere.
Papaya King is very known and recommended in many guides, as well by Anthony Bourdain. The place is small but good for a quick bite. Prices are cheap and the hot dogs are good. A few of our sausages where a bit burnt and dry on one side, but beside that it was good. The original and onion crunch are
Loved it! It's tasty and the ordering was efficient. Papaya juice was pretty good but a little too sweet for me
What an experience to have a bite and sip of New York history! Drink was tasty and refreshing, dog was good! Nobody's reinventing the wheel here but this is a nice comforting snack and I can see why it has endured the test of time!
A nice little shop that sells primarily hotdogs. The service was excellent. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. There is standing at a counter only, no seats or washrooms.
