Loved it here! Great atmosphere, perfect music selection, fantastic service and delicious food. The burger was so juicy. The meatballs and sauce were excellent! The shrimp pasta was very good also. Do not skip dessert! The carrot cake and most other desserts are not only delicious, but the pieces are huge! The menu is a bit pricey but for the experience, in my opinion, it's worth it! Would definitely go back.
Wow! This is a place that knows how to impress. Everything was exceptional from the moment we walked in till the moment we left.
I huge shout out to the Sommelier whose talents are well beyond her years.
This was a family holiday dinner so we booked as far in advance that we could. We were lucky enough to score a banquet which gave us a great view of the room, which was beautifully decorated and adorned.
Not being steak eaters we offered the pork chop, the scampi, pasta w/ clams and there was a burger. All were delicious and prepared perfectly.
Desert was a huge debate and so we decided to order two. They were both huge! The meringue was exceptional and the carrot cake was as well.
I can’t say enough about Monkey Bar other than bring a fat wallet as quality doesn’t come cheap.
Our first time but the way we were treated, you’d think it was our tenth time. Seated immediately in the main restaurant with a 6p reservation on a Monday. Not a bad table in the entire restaurant; every spot is good for people watching and keeping intimate with your date. Our server was patient, informative and happy to see us have an evening to remember. Crab Rangoon was what you’d expect, Caesar Salad was delicious and the burger was heavenly. Top five burgers in the city. Chocolate Cream Pie for dessert was otherworldly. Surprisingly, all portion sizes were quite large. Looking forward to going back so we can celebrate a birthday, anniversary or some event just so we can have that burger again!
Such a great meal here. Ambiance is classic New York, martini was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. Treat yourself to the carrot cake at the end of your meal- you won’t regret.
Great restaurant, would definitely visit again. We had amazing service and the food was great. I believe the servers name was Maurice he was very nice and attentive to us. My friend got the steak frites and I got the burger was very good. Good selection of wines and bottles. Crab Rangoon’s were great
Amazing burger and wonderful service. Highly recommend for a true old school classy new york experience. If you can't get a reservation in main room the bar area accepts walk ins. We got a booth after 15 min waiting at a bar with a drink (on a very busy Wednesday night).
Our waiter was very friendly and respectful, also proposed good wine recommendations.
I’d recommend this steakhouse to someone who’s looking for a classic New York steak with an old New York City vibes. It’s located in the heart of midtown in Manhattan. They’re a sister restaurant of the 4 Charles Prime Rib in Greenwich. A great place for group dinner from casual business, family gatherings to special occasion.
We went there with a group of 4. Ordered quite a lot of food. The burger is one of the best I’ve had in the city. Don’t forget to order their desserts, they will sure get your sweet tooth fixed!
Attires: business casual, smart casual
Pricing: $50-$100/ person (we opened 2 bottles of wine so it’s $100+ for us.)
Reservations: a must, especially for dinner
Great food - great vibe - very similar do 4 Charles. Love the burger but the king crab starter is my favorite. Waiter was friendly and food came quick but took them 30min to take our order… somewhat needs to be faster…
My favourite restaurant while travelling to New York. The service was amazing and they made sure we were taken care of. Maurice was the best waiter we could ask for. The steak frites and burger were delicious and I’d recommend it. Atmosphere is beautiful.
monkey bar is one of those places that is super "the midtown nyc vibe" which is a cool thing, but remember what you're getting. the food is pretty ok, the burger would probably be the highlight. the pastas were pretty mid. the martinis are big and cold. the booths are dim and deep so it's great for see and be seen. lots of tourists too. if you end up in midtown this is one of the better options for sure.
