I am a native New Yorker who has walked past this place a thousand times, but never eaten there, for a variety of reasons. No time, no money, too crowded. Today, the stars alligned, and I could and did. While I was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit this famous but affordable establishment, I wish to pass on the message that they should update the menu prices on their Google listing. I took pictures of the current menu and a couple of snapshots of the interior. Obviously, the outdoor dining area, the shed on the street taking up valuable potential parking spaces, is a pandemic era addition. Yes, the interior of the original building is really that small, even smaller but slightly wider than the former Moonstruck Diner. (The real Moonstruck Diner was not big enough to do a song-and-dance movie sequence in, the wait staff had to turn sideways to walk between the cafe tables and the counter, and it was never as clean as the movie set.) Don't get me wrong, I have no complaints about the food or the service at La Bonbonniere, it is what it is, but please inform the public about the current prices on your profile.
This place is great and I can't wait to come back regularly! Pancakes, French toast, olmlettes, can't go wrong! Stopped in for a hearty breakfast and it met and exceeded our expectations. Will come back soon for some lunch specials!
I visited here because of The Marvelous Maisel. It was a filming location for a cafe in the show. The food was SO GOOD. I got their “famous” French toast and I highly recommend. We got coffee in the iconic NY blue coffee cups. It is a very NYC cafe. Small, old, quick and quiet service and I loved it even more for these reasons. It is cash only so take cash!
