This is easily one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. On top of that, the food and service were perfect. One thing that stands out is the Grand Marnier souffle. It was so good, we went back a second night, and had the same dessert at the bar. Hope to return the next time I'm in town. :-)

I had a chance to experience La Grenouille not too long ago as part of a media and press event in their upstairs carriage house room. Actually, this room was the actual carriage house owned by the Vanderbilt family many years ago. After that I was told it was converted into an artist's studio. It also is an upstairs wine cellar. Either way, it's a fabulous looking spot for a private event or catered affair.

As soon as you walk in you are greeted by men in suits and tie. Everyone here has a very classy, albeit stuffy look and air to them. Would it hurt to crack a few smiles now and then? I was led up the stairway to another suited gentleman who opened the door to the event. The room is terrific and over a few levels with a loft section. Lot's of sunlight, classy decor, but with a touch of the old carriage house architecture and trimmings. Surrounded by shelves and cases of wine along the walls. The bartenders were all dressed in white suits and were actually open and friendly, but very professional. My wine glass was always filled, and it was a joy to experience top quality wine from very expensive bottles that I normally would not even consider to splurge on. Glad it was a free event!

We were also treated to many trays of h'orderves throughout the evening. Wonderfully delicious crab cake balls, salmon on pumpernickel triangles, amouche bouche, and more. If that was an example of the food offered here during normal dining all I can say is WOW! Opulence - I has it!

The whole night there were a few of the men in the darker suits overseeing us and making sure all went smoothly. All of the staff here are very professional. It's a very elegant and beautiful place for a high class dinner. Men are required to wear a jacket here, and I saw a row of them hanging on the wall for use in case you walk in without one. It's very "Can you pass the Grey Poupon" here. Still, I had the feeling all night that the men in suits were looking at us in disdain and were tolerating our group until the event ended. I must say though that the service and attention we received was top notch. It's not a restaurant that I would normally come to as it is very expensive here, but I am glad I was able to experience a touch of it.

The service is great, as advertised. But they try a little too hard and can make you feel a little claustrophobic. The tables are also very close together. The food is good and there are celebrities to see.

It was more difficult for me to say "like it" to this restaurant than it should have been. Mainly because of how seriously the restaurant takes itself. It is classically French, but there are other, more fun, more comfortable, less expensive French restaurants that are as good (or better) unless fashionable.

Wonderful restaurant. Classic New York French cuisine. Flowers like you've never seen. Soufflé was beyond belief. What an upscale crowd.

We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we were not disappointed. The scallops were excellent and the desserts were great. Service is the best that we have experienced. Be prepared to open your wallet.

Nearly flawless. My wife and I ate at Le Grenouille for the first time last week. When we walked in, we were immediately struck by the beauty of the room, and especially the amazing flowers. The lobster ravoli was amazing, as was my salad. My wife had the chicken, which was very, very good. I had the frog legs, which were the best I've ever eaten. The cheese plate was delightful. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and professional, and made our visit delightful. Our interactions with the staff were characterized by an utter lack of pretension. We enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere immensely.

Classic French In Every Way. Sometimes you don't want trendy, or fusion, or organic, or farm to table, or vegan friendly, or small plates, or your entree stacked in a tower formation surrounded by an oil or emulsion moat - you want old school and old world, classic, beautiful fresh flowers, and impecable service, with just a touch of condescension. This is a good place to start, and an even better one to finish.

This is a stunning beautiful restaurant, in an elegant and formal style rarely seen these days. The cuisine is classic French, no pommes frites, no hanger steak - but rather: Le Foie Gras Chaud aux Pêches (Seared Foie Gras with Peaches) - like velvet; Little Necks Corsini (Baked Little Necks Clams "Corsini) - perfectly done in a classic garlic butter; and Les Ris de Veau au Romarin (Sweetbreads with Rosemary) - in a sauce thick and rich enough to float a small boat.

Entress of: Les Cuisses de Grenouilles Provençale (Frogs Legs Sautéed Provençale), a dish I have every time here, sublime; La Sole Grillée, Sauce Moutarde (Grilled Dover Sole with Mustard Sauce), another absolute favorite, real Dover Sole, not Lemon Sole, Or Fluke, or Flounder, but cold water Dover Sole - I would suggest the mustard sauce on the side; and Le Magret de Caneton aux Cerises (Braised Duck Breast with Cherries) , forget Duck a l'Orange, this is the way duck should be done.

And , of course, finish with a souffle, an assorment of sorbets, or the best cheese board in the city. What an experience - worth putting on a coat and tie for. Oh yeah, the people watching aspects here are amazing as well - from amusing to the theatre of the absurd.

By far the best restaurant in new York! The dining room is decorated like a jewel box. The service cannot be compared to anything else in the city. We go here frequently and enjoy it every time, as for the food, the frogs legs and floating island dessert are incredible.

Exceptional in every way! The decor makes you believe you’ve been transported to Paris - so many gorgeous fresh flower arrangements, dim lighting, posh red cushy seating, pristine white linen table settings, exquisite French cuisine, impeccable service, and divine presentations - we enjoyed frog legs, oysters, Dover sole, cheese and chocolate soufflés. Came back another evening for after theatre nightcap in their small elegant bar. Two tables set up for elegant outside dining, too.

Our evening at Le Granule, the crown jewel of New York City’s French dining scene, was nothing short of magical. Hosted by the inimitable Philippe Masson, whose warmth and charisma only added to the ambiance, we were treated to an unforgettable performance that was as much a feast for the senses as the delectable dishes we savored. Philippe’s passion for culinary artistry was evident in every bite, and the service was exemplary and attentive without being intrusive. The decor, with its stunning floral arrangements, created an atmosphere of elegance and charm that perfectly complemented the exquisite meal. An evening at Le Granule is a symphony of flavors, hospitality, and joie de vivre, orchestrated by the talented owner and fantastic performer Philippe Masson

Fairy tale restaurant that leaves you feeling like a princess transported to Europe. They make a mean cosmo and the meal and desert was delicious plus on point service. Can’t wait to go back. Merci.

La Grenouille was an experience my wife is still smiling about 3 days later. I’ve only been to Paris once but this restaurant brings us right back there. The live music was incredible and so was the service/atmosphere in this restaurant. Everyone there was dressed for the occasion which added to the experience. The food was also very good, but I’m not sure it was worth what they charged per person. My guess is some of cost with the food is tied to the entertainment but we were fine with that. This is not a place you go monthly, but for a splurge meal it is well worth the money.

So Tasty!!! 1st class all the way!!! WOW what a great experience. Dinner was superb, the room is beautiful and very romantic, everyone was dressed to the nines (men be sure to wear a jacket and you will feel most comfortable with a tie, ladies dress to impress). Lots of famous people were there and the place was packed. Not an open seat on a Wednesday night. Be sure to get reservations. For great apps we suggest the figs with prosciutto which is sliced thicker than in other joints and makes it taste great, also loved the artichoke heart carpaccio (thinly sliced and yummy) with poached qual eggs. that is a great taste combo. Also love the smoked salmon blini with caviar which was delicate and flavorful. For the main courses you cannot go wrong with the HUGE soufflés'. We had the mushroom which was really good and filling even though it was as light as a cloud. She had the lobster Raviolis with the Bruere Blanc sauce which is a light white sauce full of flavors. For dessert you cannot go wrong with any of the soufflés. We had both the pistachio and the grand Marnier and both was super good. We also had the Crepes Flamed Orange medallions with Grand Marnier which were very good. We did not take any food photos because it was a bit too high class for me to be schlepping photos at the table, but I wish I had so you could see how pretty each dish looked. This place pays attention to the details and that is why it has been one of the city's best restaurants for nearly 60 years. This is a winner with 2 thumbs way up. Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 7 million views in 2021, over 13 million views in the first 6 months of 2022 and we thank you for that. We don't get paid, we just love to eat. If you want to have a unique experience and to know how this place became famouse you must visit it and its history. La Grenouille is an iconic restaurant located on East 52nd Street in New York City and Founded in 1962 by Gisèle Masson, the restaurant quickly gained popularity among celebrities and food connoisseurs and Grenouille quickly became a beloved institution. Over the years, the restaurant has hosted a long list of luminaries, including Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Mick Jagger, and Salvador Dali. The walls are adorned with photos of these famous guests, and their presence can still be felt throughout the restaurant today. Today, La Grenouille continues to thrive under the guidance of Charles and Gisèle's son, Philippe Masson. Philippe maintains the classic menu that his father created and is committed to preserving the restaurant's timeless elegance and exquisite cuisine. He oversees the beautiful floral displays that have become a signature of La Grenouille and learned the art of fine dining at a young age, honing his skills at esteemed establishments such as Le Notre, Fauchon, and The Plaza Athenee. The restaurant's interior is a beautiful blend of classic and modern styles, with elegant chandeliers, crisp white tablecloths, and soft lighting creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features classic French dishes such as escargot, foie gras, and lobster bisque, as well as modern takes on traditional favorites like the roasted duck breast with figs and port wine reduction. One of their most famous dishes is the lobster pasta, a must-try for any seafood lover. La Grenouille is a testament to the enduring power of love and dedication, and the importance of passing down traditions from one generation to the next. The restaurant's timeless elegance and exquisite cuisine continue to attract a devoted following, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in New York City. The staff is attentive and friendly, making guests feel right at home. Whether you are a long-time fan of La Grenouille or visiting for the first time, you are sure to be swept away by the restaurant's charm and sophistication.

Did not know what to expect. There were like 5 people at the door when we entered. We were seated at a small table facing the band area. A little odd was the table light and the cord running between my wife and me. We did the 3 course price fix;186$ I think. Service was attentive. Ordered oysters, shrimp with caviar 30$ extra and split pea soup all was outstanding and very tasteful. Dinner was lobster ravioli and so we sole (sole was filet table side). Both were outstanding as well. Desert was Grand Marnier soufflé and fruit tart. Wow really recommend the soufflé very good. They brought the soufflé with a candle for our occasion. A jazz trio was on stage and the owner sang Sinatra style before a very talented French female singer started. Very very good. The owner seems to want to be a showman lol. A little loud for such a small place as the music made it hard to talk. Over all very nice.

Everything was excellent. The execution in the kitchen couldn't have been better. The food is traditional French and it doesn't try to innovate, it simply nails what it sets out to do. The foie gras terrine was the best I ever had. The ambiance is fancy, with large mirrors, candelabra, and flower bouquets. The service couldn't be more on top of the table. I wasn't aware jackets were required, and they provided one with a smile. The prix fixe is a good deal with plenty of food, and very filling. Definitely fit for a grand celebration, but I'd say it's expensive otherwise.

La Grenouille opened in 1962, and it has been ranked high among the best restaurants in Zagat New York over the years. This is a high-end traditional French restaurant with an elegant and warm environment. Many big movie stars and fashion designers have visited there: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Paul Newman, Madonna, Sophia Rowland, Woody Allen, Elton John... It’s full of flowers and gives you very romantic feeling. The restaurant is quite which makes you better enjoy your foods. The waiters are very experienced and somehow old-fashioned. It’s a great experience having meal there.
