Amazing
this is a special place great for a special occasion. great food and service. lots of cool little extras to make you feel like you are dining at the highest level. they even bring you a little stool to put your purse on....and don't worry if your husband shows up without a jacket they have every size waiting for you in the coat closet.
Our server Zack was quite amazing as we enjoyed another sumptuous meal at this beautiful elegant upper West side establishment. The courses and additional supplements were incredible. We enjoyed the rabbit, crayfish, oysters, wine, and incredible choreography of presentation of delectable dishes.
We had a wonderful birthday experience dining in the Skybox. Everything was perfect; the food, service, view, and overall experience make this one of the best dining experiences anywhere. Thanks again.
The service is superb, from the moment they greet you to when they hail a taxi for you. The food is inventive and delicious. We opted for a four course meal with custom wine pairings. After a couple amuse bouche, we had the crab salad and lobster salad, the salmon and the sea bass, then the veal tenderloin and suckling pig. It was my birthday and I asked one of the servers for help deciding between almond tart with fig and the Noisette. The chef sent out both as a birthday treat! Chocolate lovers should pick the Noisette! My husband had their interpretation of blueberry pie. Then the after-dessert desserts came out, chocolates, a little pumpkin mousse bite, and hot madeleines. Everything was great. The only thing that was a slight hiccup was the salmon was a little strong for my husband. They offered to bring something else, but we asked that they just continue to not hold up the meal. There was plenty to eat- we were very full! The wine pairings were nice, but I wish they had been a little bolder. All in all, a great birthday dinner.
I’m thinking about the carrot veloute with Peekytoe crab. A cold carrot soup that is indescribably deep in flavour, showing off reasonably generous portions of crab, and slithers of carrot that are heavenly. Combining with the Premier Cru Beaune chardonnay (we got a half bottle), I am in my own little heaven.
There is the second ten out of ten course in a row for me with the squab (pigeon) cooked medium rare, crusted in oats, with the most astonishing barley risotto I have ever tasted. The first thing I tasted was that barley, and then the mushrooms, layer on layer of perfectly seasoned flavour making me metaphorically blush for my own attempts at risotto. Then there are the several types of mushrooms accompanying the pigeon, and the chicken jus that is drizzled by the waitperson in a seemingly frivolous manner, but is as important as any other element. The burgundy chosen by the charismatic sommelier tops off the combination but in reality the wine is a bonus.
Food was spectacular and there were lots of little added delights from the amuse bouche and canapes to stunning bread and butter to die for. Vegetarian tasting menu was powerful stuff which was a nice change. Service was excellent and staff friendly But in my opinion the exexperience was very overpriced.
I miss Daniel a lot. The food here was so good. I loved the environment of peace that they created here. it had such an upbeat feel that I did not want to leave. I wanted to stay around and bask in the beauty of this environment. The food was so delicious here. This place was also great for a bar as well. I usually do not like bars, but this place has one of the best bars I have ever seen. The place was designed so well and I thought it was so clean and pretty. The people working there ha a pride to them as well. It was a unique dining experience and it was a very positive one. I am a big fan of this place.
Opened in 1993 and relocated in its current location that was once Le Cirque in 1999, Daniel is the quintessence of what fine dining means: an incredible experience from beginning to end where hospitality has a real meaning. Some might be intimidated by the place and the omnipresent service, but the fact that it is not stuffy and very welcoming gives a different vibe to this culinary institution. There, Executive Chef Jean-François Bruel, Chef de Cuisine Eddy LeRoux and Executive Pastry Chef Ghaya Oliveira crafted sublime menu where you will not find classic dishes: no, it is more French inspired than typical French dishes, where ingredients like foie gras, Lapin (rabbit) or pigeonnau (squab) can be found. And if you are vegetarian, this is not a problem: they have a vegetarian menu.
The place is something special, from the moment you walk in to walk out, everyone is so nice! And the kindness of the waiters was a huge plus at a posh place like this
I love the lychee martini by the bar, and the tasting menu is one of the best in the world. Having frequented Michelin star restaurants, this place has the best food I have had in a long time and is better than most of the Michelin restaurants I have been to.
The tasting menu was so delicious, from the steak to the fish to the dessert. It was just perfect, and the waiters were so helpful with suggestions and so nice about making sure me and my partner had a wonderful dinner.
Must go restaurant in NYC and worth every dime!
This is a repeat for us to dine at Daniel.
I was trying to keep my anticipation in check because of our fabulous experience three years ago. Yet we were not disappointed.
The menu and the food were excellent with an astute recommendation for a pairing wine.
Although the restaurant was full and busy, we were looked after very well.
Yes, the final bill was quite on the high side for two persons, but for such fine dining, one can make the exception.
Booking is a must and highly desirable and don't forget the required high standard of dress.
Highly recommended.
We had a great experience at Daniel! While we are not new to fine dining, this was our first Michelin star experience. We loved the food, appreciated the extra courses brought out & especially loved the carefully selected wine pairings.
The service wasn’t perfect - it took a long time from being seated to receiving menus and ordering drinks. We had been at the table for 45 min before we were finally able to order anything. We had a late reservation, so I think they were just overwhelmed when we arrived. The service did drastically improve after we placed our order.
I highly recommend the 4 course option, as my partner and I each chose different dishes and were able to taste a ton of different dishes between the 2 of us. We left extremely full!
I absolutely love coming here for my December vacation. The food is always great. Service is always fantastic. I like how it's always different. The last time I came, the bread was shaped like a crab. This time, they had different types of bread to choose from. We walked out stuffed, and we only did the 4 course!
Daniel is one of the best restaurants I've been to in my life. I went with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We had the mindblowing tasting menu, which included 7 courses, and a whole assortment of other dishes and desserts they surprised us with. At the recommendation of a friend, we decided to do the wine pairing and share it between the two of us. That was easily more than enough, given how many dishes there were. Each wine complemented their corresponding dish perfectly. The waiters were even kind of enough to top our glasses up even when we didn't ask for it. Topnotch service. They were also very attentive, folding our napkins if we left the table and helping us to push our seats in when we sat down.
By the end of the meal, we were both completely stuffed. They kept giving us more food and desserts that were not listed on the menu. We were also definitely feeling the effects of the wine pairing we split. I don't even know how someone can do a single wine pairing on their own. It's way too much alcohol. My biggest pet peeve with fine dining is it's often not filling. But Daniel was so worth its high cost.
Their tasting menu changes every season, so I definitely plan to come back for another amazing dining experience.
My fiancee and I celebrated my birthday and our recent engagement here. They gave us a sofa table (only 4 of them in restaurant)
The sommelier was knowledgeable of the wines and gave us great recommendations to match the menu.
Our waiter's service was beyond first class. He ensured our wine glasses were always filled, and our food came out in a timely manner.
We had the tasting menu and everything was presented well and delicious. We had our selections of bread to go along with the meal.
By desert, we were full already.
As my first time going to a two star Michelin restaurant, it did not disappoint and it was a once in a life time experience. I did not know fine dining until I came to Daniel
Fabulous cuisine-Amazing service - terrific ambience. A very special place for any occasion. The staff celebrated our honeymoon with a special dessert- thank you so much. Truly a friendly and welcoming Michelin Restaurant - it should have 4 Michelin stars!!!
Everything was absolutely amazing and beyond expectations! The foie-gras was the best one I’ve ever had. Immense selection of cheeses with refreshing cocktails made by undoubtedly professional bartenders.
No need to mention the service cause everyone knows they are the best!
✨✨✨
Absolutely fantastic. The bread buns are delicious, each with their own unique texture and taste. The courses were excellent and so was the wine pairing. I love the foie gras and the duck dish. I also love the corn theme swordfish dish too. The desserts were beautiful and delicious. They even gave us mini Madeleines. Highly recommended, I would absolutely dine here again.
The experience was truly unforgettable. I hadn't set high expectations for the place or the food, but I was blown away. The service was exceptional – a cohesive and knowledgeable team. Our server had been there for an impressive 15 years! Opting for the 4-course prix fixe menu with premium wine pairing exceeded all expectations. The wines were paired exquisitely with our dishes; special mention goes to the champagne that arrived as a palate cleanser. The food itself was a work of art, bursting with flavor and evident attention to detail and quality. The dessert, a sorbet dish, was a revelation – its unique preparation led to an explosion of flavors in your mouth. As a delightful surprise, they treated us to an additional cake (a mini masterpiece) to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was both visually stunning and decadently delicious. Kudos to the Pastry chef, but honestly, the entire team at Daniel deserves applause for creating an exceptional and truly unforgettable dining experience. I awarded the atmosphere 4 stars, with no reflection on Daniel's part. The dining room offers an open setting, but unfortunately, due to a boisterous table of women, many of us experienced some visible discomfort. The volume of their conversation and screeching was quite noticeable.
I recently had the immense pleasure of dining at Daniel in New York City for the third time, and I can confidently say that it is the best restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a truly remarkable dining experience.
The service at Daniel is nothing short of perfection. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism that set the tone for the entire evening. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every aspect of our dining experience was flawless.
One of the standout features of Daniel is their tasting menu and wine pairings. The culinary creations that came out of the kitchen were nothing short of incredible. Each dish was a work of art, expertly crafted and presented with utmost care. The variety of flavors, textures, and ingredients showcased the chef's creativity and expertise.
The wine pairings were impeccable, elevating each course to new heights. The sommelier's recommendations were spot-on, enhancing the flavors of the dishes and complementing them perfectly. It was evident that a lot of thought and expertise had gone into curating the wine list to match the exquisite menu.
The ambiance at Daniel is elegant and refined, making it the perfect setting for a special occasion or a memorable night out. The attention to detail in the decor and table settings added to the overall dining experience.
Daniel in NYC is a culinary gem that consistently delivers a world-class dining experience. From the impeccable service to the extraordinary tasting menu and wine pairings, it's a restaurant that sets the bar high for fine dining in the city. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in New York, Daniel should be at the top of your list. It's no wonder that I keep coming back for more – it truly is an amazing place.
Unbelievable good high-end dining experience. The dining room is stunning. The service was absolutely amazing, the food spectacular. 4 course Prix fixe plus drinks for 2 of us was US$650 but you it’s not every day you find yourself in NYC without small children!!
