Really great! Fabulous steak tacos, great rice/beans, came with two side salsas and chips - and incredibly reasonably priced! Definitely gonna go back ASAP.

Great little Mexican restaurant. Large menu and tasty food. I liked the Carne Assada. I would like to go back and have the margaritas and try more of this authentic Mexican food.

We stopped by Panchitas on a whim, and we didn't regret our decision! The complimentary chips and salsa/mole was delicious followed by tacos, quesadillas, and a specialty dish. The tacos aren't the typical americanized fare, but rather seasoned meat, onions, cilantro, and sauce... Tacos as they *need* to be. I highly recommend the al pastor and the pollo! The wife had a vegetarian quesadilla and equally raved about hers as well.

Overall- we were very happy with the choice we made. I was disappointed that the Thai place next door had just shut down their kitchen, but the tacos more than made up for it.

Fresh, authentic, delicious and so affordable. I grew up in San Diego and have a deep appreciation for Mexican food. I tried the fish tacos which came with beans and rice. Our friend recommended the "arbol" sauce, a deep red smokey chili pepper sause and it was excellent. This place gets a 10 out of 10.

Home Made Central American Cuisine. Since it was fourth of July and my husband had off from work we decided to visit on of our favorite parts of New Orleans Carrollton Avenue. We wanted some authentic home made Central American food so we went to Panchita's. It was about one thirty when we got there and the place was packed (we had to wait about five minutes for a table to come available). The menu is pretty large so it took us a fee minuets to decide while we ate tortilla chips and salsa. My husband ordered the tamal de barbacoa while I had the milanese de rus con papas. The food took about half an hour to be prepared but it was clear when it arrived that it was made to order and very authentic. We finished our meal by sharing a flan. I wish I lived closer so I could frequent this restaurant more!

Delicious Central American cuisine with a homemade quality and a large menu. The tacos al pastor were prepared with fresh pineapple. Good black beans and fried rice. The owner suggested flan for dessert. Nice presentation and it tasted great. We'll be back definitely.

Very good food. Local tip: Order a bean burrito, add rice and pico de gallo inside. Get water and with the complimentary chips you have a $5 lunch that is filling and delicious.

The carne asada was amazing. The queso, beans and rice were flavorless. we'll come back because it's close, but I've def had better. It's middle of the road, but welcomed in this mexicanless town.

Good food at reasonable price. Panchitas has a nice mixture of Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. The menu is extensive but we had the ceviche, the soft taco mix and a sampler dinner and all were good. For a casual dinner that is tasty, I don't think you can go wrong. Would like to return and try some of the seafood dishes.

Love this place!!! I'm a local, and we eat here at least once a week. Authentic Mexican food...and I mean...authentic. Ask for the chile d'arbol sauce if you like hot stuff.

Awesome!. We tried eating at two other Mexican restaurants that happened to have either closed or moved. We had looked up Panchitas and decided to go there. The restaurant is very cute and quaint. The complimentary salsa was definitely home made and wonderful. I had the chicken fajitas and they included a ton of fresh veggies. The included fresh pico added to the fajitas really made the dish! We have been talking about how good this place was since we left tonight. I think this will definitely be our new go to mexican restaurant! I really, really recommend trying this place! Service was excellent and it was not very busy on a Saturday night.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!. It's hard to know where to begin. Very sweet and friendly staff, and I had fun practicing my Spanish while joking briefly with the kitchen staff. They have incredible ceviche, served on a corn tostada with some crema. I don't know for sure if it's on the menu, I just asked in Spanish if they had ceviche available that day, and the waitress went to check and said they had it. My daughter absolutley loves ceviche, and she said this is a good or better than mine, and she LOVES my ceviche. Anyway, this was really fresh, and I guess that's why they don't always have it...only when they have good, fresh fish. Everything they make seems homemade and fresh, and is a authentic as anything I had in Veracruz several years ago. The jarochas were incredible, simple food, but the creamiest black beans I've ever had. The chilaquiles are probably the best I've ever had, just spicy enough with two perfectly cooked eggs. And the mole? Dark, rich, complex, and so good I could have rolled in it naked. The service is very good, though it's never really been all that crowded the 4 or 5 times I've been. You get chips with three kinds of sauces, and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever had the same sauce twice. Which I guess means they must make it fresh everyday, and just decide on a whim what might be good that day. The prices are great and worth the trip there, even if it's not your kind of food

Get a pork burrito. Got a shredded pork and rice burrito and it was the best shredded pork I have ever eaten. But... I paid $8 for just one burrito when I could have gotten a whole meal for that price but I think I would go back and pay $8 for that pork.

Absolutely delicious. I do consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur, and I had Panchita's for the first time this afternoon. We sat outside and the chips and salsa were typical. I ordered the sample plate (i think it was called something like that) with a chicken taco dorado, a chicken enchilada, and an entomotada (something I had never had before). The taco dorado was deliciously crunchy, with very expertly seasoned meat and herbs. The enchilada, which I ordered with the verde sauce, was the BEST verde sauce I have ever had. It was zesty and tangy and earthy and overall mouth-watering!!!! YUM. The entomotada, I found out, was a deep fried corn tortill folded over and over. It was drenched in a tomato sauce and had chicken filling I believe. DELICIOUS!! It was unlike any other dish I've ever had...tender and filling, zesty but sweet. ...I will most definitely be returning pronto to Panchita's!!!!!!!!

First off - I COULD DRINK THE SALSA ALL. DAY. LONG.
Food pretty authentic but nothing that would give Americans a willies.
OK: Tacos - NUMMY! Especially the barbacoa. To me, this is what barbacoa should taste like. Chicken was a little bland but good. Steak is good (this place seems to do red meat pretty well).
My only complaint about this place is that the chips are sometimes too greasy and I suspect might be left over. NOT good. Had the mole which was good but not great. I've had better mole but not anywhere in New Orleans. If somebody knows of a really good one - let me know. Also, had tostadas. Very filling but good. I usually don't like that stinky cheese you get at Felipes but it's good here.

I'm tired. Eat at this place. It's good.

IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!. OK.... I love love love NOLA and all the good food that we have everywhere... but, being from TX, the one thing I miss the most is the mexican food! There are very very few places in the city that have GOOD mexican food!! but, lemme just say, Panchita's is AWESOME!!!!!!! I felt like i was back in TX in some lil hole-in-wall-mexican place complete with Telemundo on the tv in the background! ... the food is fantastic, the server was sweet and spoke very good english, and the prices are very affordable! I had the tostadas, chicken and beef... they were great! and i can't wait to try other things! (especially breakfast!)
THANK YOU PANCHITA'S!!!!

Authentic food and generous portions. First of all, the prices here are great for the amount and quality that you get! The chips and salsas that come with the meal were terrific. The dining atmosphere isn't upscale by any stretch but certainly not run-down, either - seems like a nice, local family joint.

So far I've tried the chilaquiles and mole enchilada here. The chilaquiles were plain awesome, better even than many I had in Jalisco last summer. The homemade enchilada was great too but I wish the mole sauce had been a little spicier.

Cesar Delgado. I will like to apologize to Mr Tom Fatso, on his recent bill at Panchita's, because we haven't change the price on the sample tray, we did it on other dishes but not on this one yet. And I appreciate that you like the aunthentic mexican cuisine, because this kind of food takes a lot of work to prepare it, and also the prices at the market are 25% higher than prossesed food. And we are giving only fresh products. Thanks for all your good reviews. Atte Panchita's owner.

Good lunch choice!. We had fried cream cheese stuffed plantains (far and away MY favorite thing), grilled tilapia tacos topped with onion and cilantro, and chicken enchiladas topped with mole sauce. The mole sauce wasn't very good, actually it was pretty awful, but the tilapia tacos were EXCELLENT and the stuffed plantains really hit the spot.

The four salsas and chips provided (first set is free, $2 for refills) were very fresh, super tasty. No refills on drinks but they're HUGE and one of my friends swears that this place has the best coffee on the planet.

Great fried tacos. I went to Panchita's for the first time and ordered up a serving of their "three roll fried tacos" with the shredded beef. The to-go order came with a good salad, some very flavorful rice, and some good re-fried black beans. I really loved the green salsa that came with it (tangy and a little spicy). For just under $8 this was a hell of a deal.

I like it. Well i been there many times and i know that there are many "mexican restaurants" but thats just a title. if you have been in mexico you'll really know what is the real flavor of mexican food. give them a chance and try real mexican flavor. also i have read that people dont understand why they call it "criolla" but criolla does not means shrimp and crab food criolla means creole in spanish in creole means homemade(or old recipes)

Cheap and delicious. It has a become new tradition for my girlfriend and I to come here on Tuesdays for their taco specials, $2 each ($3 for seafood) and $6 margaritas. A family restaurant where the food is quick and the service is friendly. Best Mexican food I've had in New Orleans since moving from the south western side of the country. Get a side of the chilli oil if you're looking for an extra spicy experience!

We have been coming here off and on since the place opened. I have to say, it's a little hit and miss there. Sometimes the food is wonderful. This time we had a combination plate (chili relleno, taco, tostada) which were all delicious. The salsa and cheese were good as well. The children's plate was a little on the poor side. The frozen, fuzzed chicken nuggets tasted like grease. In the past at times the food was not as good, plantains not cooked all the way through, tostadas overcooked and almost burnt. It all depends on which cook was in the kitchen.

The food was amazing, you can very much taste the authenticity and you can see right into the kitchen where they freshly prepare everything ordered! The service was great, very friendly with only a very mild language/accent barrier. The agua fresca (pineapple) was refreshing and I got the chicken chiminchangas, which were small by comparison to what I'm typically used to at more Americanized Mexican food establishments but were SO delicious with fresh ingredients. The rice and beans were even impressive! The ONLY drawback is the place is very tiny, dim lighting and VERY warm almost to the point of being uncomfortable inside. I would absolutely sit in again though bc the food was just that great!!
