Review Cafe Noma - New Orleans

Mouton In Motion
What a fantastic way to wrap-up a 4-mile walk in City Park and celebrate December birthdays. This quaint establishment is set inside the New Orleans Museum of Art (with a separate entrance) overlooking nature at it's best. The service staff is exceptional and most welcoming. From 10a-11a assorted make-you-weep-for-more pastries and beverages are available. At 11am the kitchen opens with another group of delicious, shareable offerings. The menu is short yet packs a delectable fare of hearty plates. The environment is welcoming with a simple beauty. For Central Business hotel visitors it is fun Streetcar ride and short scenic stroll in the park to get here. So worth the chance to see NOLA from a different angle. This would a be an excellent place for a first date.

SO good!!! 🎨 Really tasty food in a super arty place. The huge windows let light in and add to the calming atmosphere in the gallery. It’s a great stop between exploring exhibitions. The waiting staff is very helpful with recommendations and food arrives fast. I had one of the market bowls with shrimp and plantain. All of the dishes served are locally inspired cuisine. I saw some of the chips dishes come out and the portion was very large, for a good price too! I paid under $15 for my meal. Overall it was a great experience, I would have stayed and relaxed for longer had it not been for the full blast air conditioning! I was freezing, but cold interiors and hot exteriors are the norm for New Orleans so this place remains a 5 star destination for me. I will definitely return! Thank you!

I ate here when Noma had Japan Fest. They had some special menu items which I was excited to try. The portion sizes and huge and you can probably split most things on the menu. I had a flatbread which was super yummy and we had special fries which were amazing! The other guest had the turkey club and it was great! We both tried the basil lemonade. It was okay but I didn’t taste the basil and the overall flavor was lighter than I preferred. They have some really good looking bakery items if you only want a small snack. Pricing was moderate but the food was worth it in my opinion. I’d love to dine here again on a more laid back day.

Very nice and relaxing cafe in the museum. I got the blueberry salad and the flourless chocolate cake. He got the fried chicken sandwich and shared the truffle fries with me.

Nice food and coffee. Plates are big. Fries were good, very crispy, but the Thai dressing made them too salty. I would recommend to order simple fries.

Cafe NOMA is truly a hidden gem. The food is good, and there’s a few options for coffee and alcoholic beverages as well. It’s also a great place to work remotely and the space is beautiful.

Beautiful life cafe inside NOMA. The chicken salad was delicious as were the sandwiches. The chicken salad sandwich (croissant) was absolutely amazing. Really nice spot with nice views of city park Update : The chess pie is delicious with a coffee

After riding around 10KM, on a trike, around New Orleans’s City Park, I worked up an appetite for lunch. The Truffle-Parmi Garlic fries were a decadent and wonderfully delicious treat. The fried chicken sandwich - crispy perfection. The Who Dat Golden Ale was an awesome way to wash it all down. Located in the New Orleans Museum of Art, Café NOMA, offers a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

The food was really good, had the ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was amazing golden and flaky. It was over priced, but entering the New Orleans Museum of Art was free on this day, so it balanced out.

Whether you eat meat or are vegan, this place will have something. I like their poke bowl as well as the fries (with toppings). They also sometimes have themed menus if there is a special museum exhibition, which I appreciate. The cafe is more like a cafeteria, so not terribly cozy and it can get very loud if it’s busy.

Though the service was fast, the food is overpriced. 2 adults, and 3 children at $75 is a lot. There aren't many options to eat in the area when visiting City Park, besides Cafe DuMonde, and they don't have lunch options. So it was suggested to come to this Cafe inside of the New Orleans Museum of Art. Unfortunately, we will try to find another place to eat next time. The food was good, just overpriced.

The food tastes great and they have a nice selection for a little museum Cafe. The dining area is very well lit with natural light it is a nice place to read while enjoying some delicious food.

I ordered the shrimp bowl - very flavorful and filling. They also have a veggie/quinoa bowl without meat. The satsuma pie was melt in your mouth delicious! With a hot tea, it came to around $25. You don't have to visit the museum to eat at the cafe but I definitely recommend the museum.

Nice Cafe in the museum, with great view of the park. The chai latte was delicious, they also have milk alternatives which is great.

We ordered the mushroom flatbread, turkey melt, naked fries, and beer & wine. The food was delicious & innovative. The servings were very generous. The cafe is very comfortable and very clean. All of the staff were friendly and proficient. It is an exceptional cafe on its own and even more so as a museum cafe. We will be back soon. Bonus: You can enjoy the park, sculpture garden, or museum.

Great food and of course great art at this Cafe in the New Orleans Museum of Art . Great salads, flat bread pizzas and sliders like the Black Forest and white cheddar on honey wheat buns. Come on Wednesday when museum admission is free and make it a day. Entry to Cafe doesn't require admission fee

A surprisingly good eatery located at NOMA. The portion sizes were on the healthier side. The service was excellent and old school for a Cafe with the server bringing food to our table instead of us having to pick it up and bring it. Seating was comfortable. Overall, a classy place. We got the soup and sandwich combo. The tomato and basil soup was really delicious and healthy. I enjoyed the portobello mushroom sandwich which was more of a burger (brioche bun) served with a piece of grilled portobello mushroom with cheese and veggies. The size was on the smaller side - I would have liked a bigger sandwich for the price. We also got the flatbread with cherry tomatoes and mushrooms- it was super delicious and the crust was thin and crunchy. Totally recommend this.

Chef Feit and staff(Jennifer front of house) had VERY good food. Chef indulge me with Amuse Bouche. Service was superb. A disabled vet friend is doing internships there... so be on lookout soon for Chef Demetria Johnson. This is respite culinary treat from heat/humidity. Highly recommend without reservations. Caveat I always do 4 ratings to leave room for improvements and updates...(shh! Actually on a scale of 1-10,they are 11...shh!!)

Wonderful cafe in a world class art museum! The staff is friendly and the food and beverage options are tasty! The Paris tea, pomegranate mimosa, and entree sized salads are my favorites so far. It's a great refreshment stop for park visitors and art lovers alike!

Very Disappointed. Continue from previous post. Needless to say we won't be eating here again. I sure hope this is not what the Ralph Brennan restaurant are coming to.

-----13 Oct, 2014-----

Very Disappointed. Attended Japan Fest on Oct 11, 2014. Figured we'd have lunch at Cafe MOMA. Boy was I completely disappointed. I had the Turkey Bacon Panini. It was horrible hard as a rock and super dry. My daughter had the kids grill cheese OMG it was bad. Worst tasting grill cheese I've ever tasted. How do you mess up a grill cheese. Needless to say we didn't eat but 2 or 3 small bits.
Service was no better very very slow. waited over 30 min. for those two dishes.
Deacon
Great light fare reasonably priced.

Very good, except for the cappuccino. But everything else (chicken salad, mushroom and sausage soup, chicken bruschetta, croissant) was spot on. Lives up to the billing.

Not only are they a part of one of America's great museums, but this cafe could stand alone as a truly terrific cafe in one of America's great food cities. Bravo Chris! Super food.

Problem solved!!!!. The greatest problem when going to a museum is in order to fully enjoy the entire exhibit I'd have to do it on two trips because I need to break for a snack. Well that's not a problem at the New Orleans Museum of Art. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the entire indoor exhibits then broke for lunch at Cafe NOMA. I had a light bruschetta topped with salmon, capers, red onion with a spread of cream cheese. It was a perfectly packaged piece full of flavor. My girlfriend had the pizza manchego which had so much flavor. (I was fortunate enough to help with a slice or two.) Had a blood orange italian soda and we were set. We enjoyed dining alfresco and we then resumed our museum tour to the sculpture garden for the remainder of the afternoon.

As good as the museum. The New Orleans Museum of Art is an accessibly-sized gem. A few blocks from where Degas painted some of his masterpieces, it is the permanent home to an impressive collection of classic and modern, famous and obscure works.

I came here with an art critic for the Times-Picayune. He wanted to show me an edgy and controversial exhibit by NY-based graffiti artist "Swoon." It was a huge (20 foot x 30 foot), multi-media depiction of Thalassa, the Greek demi-goddess. It was wonderful.

I did not expect it, but the meal was almost as good. A Dickie Brennan-affiliated lunchroom, it was about as perfect of a small lunch room as you could ever hope for in a museum. My friend had the pear and bacon salad, which looked wonderful. I like how they cut the bacon in strips, and the spiced walnuts were peppery and unique (just $8.50). I had half of a Prosciutto and Gruyere Panini (with Mediterranean olives on ciabatta) and a cup of Bacon, Potato & Leek soup (together just $10.50). Both were just perfect.

The room was simple, contemporary and bright, looking out over the park's pond.

Best lunch in town! Seriously, try it. You won't be disappointed. The Flatbread pizzas are especially tasty.
