Wow wow wow wow. Go to this place now. They're closed Sunday so go every day but twice on Saturday. Had the seafood gumbo and almost never left. The shrimp po boy was to die for. I know it looks rough on the outside but do yourself a favor at EAT HERE!

Great food, amazing staff, and hot spot for travelers looking for some good breakfast after some New Orleans style fun. Everything on the breakfast menu is great. My first visit here was in 2019 & I was fortunate to return and find this hidden gem in March 2022. Can't wait to come back next visit!

We were visiting from Australia. Wanted to grab something random and found this place. OMG! The food was absolutely fantastic! So delicious, especially the shrimp po boy (fully dressed!). The waitress was so welcoming, friendly and warm. Not only one of the best meals we've eaten on our big American trip, but one of the most reasonably priced as well! Thanks a bunch for the friendly service and amazing food!

5 stars for value and service. For about the cost of a prepackaged mass-produced breakfast sandwich at my hotel down the street, I got a solid complete breakfast - cheese omelette, home fries and a scratch-made biscuit with butter and jelly. And I kid you not, I ordered and by the time a found the restaurant on Yelp, looked at a couple reviews and pics, and checked in, bam, the server was headed my way with my meal. Good ol’ Southern American food, super fast and fairly priced. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.

So I am from Baton Rouge and not familiar with the area so I googled and found this place. It was close so I chances it and SOOO glad I did! I almost got the gumbo but went with the red beans and rice. The chef introduced himself and gave me a large sample of the gumbo. Words can't express how good it was! The red beans were delicious but I will definitely get the gumbo next time I'm here. I have a new favorite New Orleans restaurant! Prices, service, cleanness all were very impressive!

This place was recommended to us by a tour guide as a "working man's lunch place," that is a great description. The restaurant was a no frills kind of place but the food was fantastic. We had the gumbo, catfish platter, french fries, and green beans. All of it was fantastic. The portions were very generous, the fried cat fish was good enough to not need tartar sauce (which I believe is home made and is also delicious) or cocktail sauce. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The gumbo was generous and delicious. Even the green beans were great. I did notice that there were very limited options in terms of vegetarian food, however, that was not a negative for us.

Be cautious of the seafood! I worked there and the refrigerator s would go out at least twice a week. Smell your food before you eat! The owners will still serve the seafood even though they know it' has went bad!

Excellent place for lunch when you're downtown! The fried chicken, mashed potatoes and veggies was really nice, and the red beans and sausage on next on my menu. Really nice waiters and serving staff. I promise to go back (often!)

It was a little on the pricy side I thought. I just wanted to try their cheeseburger, because a cheeseburger is really how you tell a lot of things about a diner-type restaurant: how it's made, the type of bread, how it's presented, is the bread toasted, how the meat is cooked...these kinds of things. It was a larger than average hamburger, and it was well presented the bread wasn't toasted as I remember but grilled onions were offered for only $0.50 more. Overall a better than average cheeseburger and it's a better-than-average diner. I did find it a little pricey again because the cheeseburger a bag of chips and a cup of coffee came to $12 plus tip for the excellent service and that's $15 for basically a burger. The service was good the Ambiance is a little Stark I think the place is new but clean. I guess that's just the cost of eating in downtown New Orleans nowadays. I'm going to go back and try the chicken fried steak next time because it's really hard to find on a menu in New Orleans. overall I think it's a good place.

Our party ordered Hot sausage poboy, bowl of gumbo, and meatballs. All three dishes were very tasty and definitely home-cooked, and generously portioned. Staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful! Will definitely go back!

After missing the hotel breakfast one morning, we wandered down the block in search of something delicious, and we stumbled upon P&G. The waitress greeted us warmly and seated us. Food was delicious, hot, fresh, and my coffee cup was never empty. Have the omelettes and biscuits! You won't be sorry.

pretty solid little lunch counter. super friendly waitress and convenient location add to the appeal. i had catfish mac n cheese and potato salad and were all very tasty. lots of locals rolling through says more than i could about the place. if looking for a solid low key meal when visiting the city give it a go

Food is always really good! Best poboys, they use the good French bread which makes all the difference. Crusty but soft inside. Great prices. My go to lunch place when looking for home style cooked meal. Best gumbo and potatoes salad!!

First time in the city. Excellent food, great customer service, and a real southern style big-easy going atmosphere. P&G is a must try! I had the porkchops with black-eyed peas and rice. My hotel is a 10 min walk away and I'm still stuffed. Great value for what you get.
