Review Drago's Seafood Restaurant - New Orleans

Russell Ivey
Take my review with a grain of salt, I’m not a seafood guy. We have the charbroiled oysters and they were very good. I have never had oysters prepared like this, and it has changed my opinion on them as a dish. I generally will eat some of the regularly prepared ways and only occasionally as part of larger parties. The butter and garlic spices was also just good plain on the provided bred. We also had alligator tacos and they were a good balance of fresh ingredients and a little spice. Lastly we had the lobster Marco I loved the noodles, sauce, and shrimp. The portion was good too. I’m not a big fan of lobster meet in general. So I just crack the claws and share the meat with my wife, I can take it or leave it. So if it was good or bad I could not say. Over all good food. They are very popular so I would plan ahead. It’s worth the time even if you just pop in to try the oysters.

Easily the best restaurant I tried on my weekend visit to New Orleans. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and even though I will say the portion size was a bit small and it could have used more lobster, other than that it was amazing. My friends liked the shrimp pasta, and my other friends said the seafood pasta was some of the best they ever tried. The service here was also amazing. We expected there to be a wait on a busy Saturday night when many students were here visiting for a football game, but our party of 6 got seated right away. Our waiter was extremely nice and honest about our questions about the menu. Our food came out really quickly. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, keep in mind it is a bit on the pricier side but it is worth it

Food was yummy! I wasn't really hungry but totally enjoyed the alligator bites & crab dip. We also had the charbroiled oysters! Tasty! Our server was attentive. Though initially it seemed the wait would be long, we were able to be seated in a reasonable amount of time, considerably it was only an hour or so before closing time.

Drago's Charbroiled Oysters here were incredible, get a dozen! The best part is that they often give more than 12 because they try to be fair with the different sizes. You won't regret it! We also had the Seafood Gumbo which was delicious as well as the Lobster Mac n Cheese. Dip the bread in the garlic butter from the oysters and experience butter nirvana.

Came with some friends and ordered a bunch of appetizers. The gumbo was delicious. The charbroild oysters were a great example of the dish if you're sharing with someone who's never had them before. The boudin balls were really nice. The grilled gator bites would also be a solid introduction if you've never had gator before.

Been waiting to go here for the longest to try out their chargrilled oysters. Best oysters I ever had! The rest of the food was mediocre at best. Service was good but it stayed busy and it was a line the entire time we were there. Tbh I'd only come here for the oysters.

The charbroiled oysters brought us in once, and then they brought us back 2 days later. Great drinks, (hurricanes!), prompt service, and the most amazing oysters. Sure you can get other charbroiled oysters without leaving the Quarter, but these are the ones that called us back. They will call you back as well. Sit at the bar for the best experience, you won't regret it

I had my last New Orleans meal at Drago's and I was glad I went. It's located inside the Hilton Hotel near the river and Riverwalk Outlets. Service and food were excellent. I highly recommend getting the charbroiled oysters! We got the Surf no turf (?), fillet mignon, seafood pasta, lobster mac & cheese, brownie a la mode, and cheesecake. Yum!

First time at Drago's! Enjoyed the charbroiled oysters but not the bread that came with it. The alligator bites were okay-- my first time trying them ever.

Came here late on a Sunday, and I got a great server. She was attentive and suggested great dishes. Their signature Oysters were bomb. Can probably convert some non-believers. Everyone suggested the Seafood Pasta, and you definitely can not go wrong with it. Make sure to walk the waterfront afterwards!

The charbroiled oysters are good, but for someone that eats raw oysters, i still prefer them raw. The seasoning is just like escargot, garlicky and cheesy. And after finishing all the oysters, use the bread to dip up all the oil on the plate. We were there around 6:30PM on Thursday, and no line. Other dishes were ok..

Visited this past weekend and although very busy was seated fairly quick even without reservations. I had the raw Oysters, seafood gumbo and the boudin stuffed shrimp. The Oysters were definitely fresh and the boudin stuffed Shrimp was delicious. The gumbo was just ok and the only seafood I saw in it was bite sized shrimp. I guess it should have been labeled as Shrimp gumbo. Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Side note: I visited this restaurant twice during my visit and the 2nd time I had the steak and lobster. The steak didn't taste like a sirloin but more like a pot roast with a mushroom gravy on top. Also the lobster pieces I received must have been from a baby lobster because they were super small and definitely not worth it for the cost. I wish I would have taken a picture of it.

On vacation to see our daughter & this place keeps coming up for the Chabot charbroiled oysters. So I had to try them. If they weren't so expensive I would've eaten a few dozen! They were amazing! I also had the alligator tacos (also very good), and the crayfish etouffee. The etouffee was tasty, but very salty. I was very happy with my first time experience at Drago's. I cannot forget to mention that my server was top notch!
Marlaina Stoddard
They accommodated our group of 20 at 3 tables. Our waitress was awesome! Oysters are a must! The lobster stuffed with pasta was amazing! Jambalaya was decent.

So for my birthday trip a few months ago we decided to visit New orleans. We had a couple of places that we wanted to try but our tour bus driver recommended this place. And another person who we ran into recommended this place also so we decided to give it a try. Everyone said to get the oysters. So we ordered oysters and the shrimp pasta salad with Creole sauce. I had never had to cook oyster before and omg! They were amazing!! So much so that we went back the next day and got a double order and the steak and lobster dinner. This place is one of the reasons why I would go back to New Orleans. It was five star service. The way staff was great and very accommodating. Food came out fast and hot. I really enjoyed coming to this restaurant and if you haven't been I would highly recommend that you stop what you doing and go.

Nice atmosphere with plenty of seating. Joe, our bartender, was a delight to chat with at the bar while we waited for our table. I ordered a hurricane, which is (what I've been told) one of Nawlin's signature drinks. It was a dark rum, white rum and tropical juices. It was tasty. We were quoted a 30 min wait, but took a little bit longer to be seated...47 min wait total. I got the charboiled oysters and they were delicious!! I enjoyed taking a closer look to watch the cooks prepare them. Everyone in the party was satisfied with our dinner choices. Please be advised that they do not split bills so you'll be given a bill for the entire party and you'll need to get your accounting skills and perhaps a calculator to add up everything, split the tax and the gratuity accordingly. BTW: 18٪ gratuity was automatically added. I'm ok with that, since we had more than 6 in our party, but there were no mention/posting of this for us to be informed prior to getting the bill.

Another must stop while in town. The best chargrilled oysters that I have eaten. Service was great. The seafood gumbo was below average. The fish was fresh and delicious. Lastly the crawfish Etoufee was very good but more rice than I prefer. I would love to give a five star review, but the seafood gumbo needs to be better.

We enjoyed our meal although we had a few overly charred oysters and our lobster tail was slightly over cooked, the steak and shrimp was perfect and the creme brûlée was the best we have ever had! Our server Darius was top notch! Over all it was a great experience!
Kenya Tutman Taylor-Hayes
The service was great and beautiful meal presentation. I did ask for some Cajun seasoning to add to my dish, but once it was sprinkled in, dinner was delicious!
Justin Hicks
Ok, so I thought it was very good food, but our food did not come out hot. We ordered lobster and we didn’t want to have to wait for it all to cook again so we just ate it. It was good food just not happy with the temp of it. I will say the shrimp on the drago’s mix grill was the best I’ve had since arriving in New Orleans. Just not hot.
Marissa Janell
I was there for a birthday celebration for my friend with her family. We were seated fast. Our server wasn’t very attentive being that the restaurant was packed and there were 14 of us so understandable. Prices were reasonable. I ordered the shrimp pasta and it was good. Next visit I will get the charbroiled oysters. Parking was validated and that’s always a plus when you’re in the city.
Jackie Neal Carr
We waited over an hour to be seated and the food was simply ok not outstanding and a waitress was simply an ass🤷🏽‍♀️
Chiquita Monique Franklin
The food was expensive and bland no taste service was horrible we were over looked some food was raw

This place is a joke. Busy or not..... you need to re-evaluate your staff and step up your game.
S Gail Henderson
Not really impressed at dinner. It seemed very hectic and the server was very no nonsense. No smiling or anything. The food was so-so. Very busy restaurant with no ambiance expect for the hectic restaurant.
Jim Loflin
Drago’s was a perfect place for our first night. Appetizers were quick , held us over until we were seated. Food was excellent. Highly recommended.
Ann Woody
I could devour the char grilled oysters there. That’s as far as I got with the menu. Char grilled oysters.
Nicole Kuykendall
This food was amazing ! And Freddie our server was so polite and helpful.
Evelyn Brown
Food was delicious. Waitress service was horrible. I think she couldn’t multitask. But overall our drinks, food and the cooks/chefs who were broiling the oysters service was excellent and professional. I Loved It! Oh I will be back to visit!
Robby Sherman
You betcha...they are right about the BEST SINGLE BITE in New Orleans! Definitely go with the chargrilled oysters, and make sure you get a little extra bread to sop up all that buttery goodness left over!
Cb
Sat at the bar and witnessed the most efficient bar staff I’ve ever experienced... Quick and kind. Don’t expect a quiet, slow experience - be ready for loud and fast and lots of people - every night. Yes, get the charbroiled oysters. You’ll leave happy.

Dinner before heading back home. The #LobsterEmpire wow that was fantastic. I was afraid that it would be to rich with a cream sauce, it wasn't. I had so o many oysters in my sauce it was incredible. I really felt bad holding back and not finishing my plate. I was good and didn't finish. Still probably 10 large oyster left on the plate after eating all of the lobster tail and the claws. The #charbroiled #oysters was super today, again fantastic. I saved room for the #breadpudding. That was a good call, the only way this meal could have been better is if my wife was with me.

In over 100+ reviews this is probably the first time I have given a rating of 1 to any restaurant.

In these times most restaurants provide relatively good food and what really sets you apart is the 'tangential product' including service.

I can only describe the service in one word; DISASTER.

While we ordered some soup and an appetizer besides the main course, the food took over 40 minutes to arrive. In reverse order!!! The main course arrived first. Only after we started off with the main course and enquired about the soups did it dawn on the waitress that there was something wrong. While I understand that such an error could happen in a few isolated cases, what really turned us off was the absolute lack of either regret or apology from the staff. There was not even a single word or expression of regret over the incident. To the credit of the waitress she did turn up a few minutes later to ask us if the food was hot!!!!

The agony was followed by an inordinate delay is getting us the cheque and then in picking up the payment.

Coming back to the food. The portions are generous. I consider myself an expert on pasta. I must confess the sea food pasta was terrible. The MOST IMPORTANT step in pasta is the cooking of the pasta itself. A good past must be cooked Al Dente. Mine was a soggy mess.

Terrible experience!!!

I was there for lunch. Ordered half dozen chargrilled oysters and they were amazing!! Now, for the main course, I ordered the stuffed lobster with "vegetables" and I was just ok. The "vegetables" that came with, was a side of some kind of corn stew that I didnt care for. Server never went back to ask me how things were and was kind of short and rude.
I would go back for the oysters and maybe try something else.

Too big and poor layout. Too big and poor layout. Too big and poor layout. Too big and poor layout. Too big and poor layout.Too big and poor layout.

Chargrilled oysters! Yum-- grilled in shell until tender, topped with a garlic butter sauce with fresh squeezed lemon- OMG they're good, and I wasn't an oysteromaniac before (and my half dozen was 7 oysters--hurrah). Sucked up the excess sauce with crusty bread. The Shrimp Florentine Pasta that followed featured tender shrimp (lots) in a heaping bowl of cheesy spiral pasta topped with generous Parmesan, with small wilted spinach and sun dried tomatoes. I ate only half of the SF, it was generous. Not REALLY great, but tasty enough. Superb wait staff, hostess was a bit jangled with seating of a solo diner. Could have been more welcoming.
Burger Belly
I almost feel I have no business reviewing this place. I'm not a big seafood fan, and especially don't like oysters. So why would I chose here, of all places, to eat? I was working at this mall, and it was open when I got off. Either way, I ordered the fried shrimp plate with a house salad. The salad was good as well as the shrimp. The fries were actually quite terrible. Most of them were over cooked and they lack flavor in general. But, again..... fries are not the reason you dine at Drago's. Service was attentive and friendly. Maybe one day I will try the oysters.

My husband and I Went for lunch. Several people recommended this restaurant to us, so we decided to try it. The shrimp po boy was dry. The seafood pasta wasn't good; my husband said even Red Lobster's pasta is better. The chargrilled oysters were just okay; other places in New Orleans have better oysters. Overall, dragos was decent, but definitely not near the best.

Drago's is known for their oysters. I am not an oyster fan in particular. However, my boyfriend and I had the charbroiled oysters, and I couldn't get enough! They were delicious and I definitely appreciate the buttery sauce that comes with them. I could eat an entire plate by myself. I will definitely stop by again when in town- though just for those. Atmosphere isn't particularly special and somewhat boring, and I ordered an avocado salad and they forgot the avocado.. and the waitress wasn't particularly happy to bring it to me..
Chris R.
The chargrilled oysters we good but not great. There are a number of options around the city to chose from and Drago's was average. The staff were very friendly and willing to chat with customers.
Deirdre Smith
Had the seafood platter and it was delicious. The restaurant is located inside the Hilton Riverside.........................................

Dinner was good. The charbroiled oysters were good but not great. The oysters at acme oyster house my wife and I liked a lot better. The pasta in my lobster was blah. I wish it had more flavor. All in all not bad, but not great.

Tried the oysters and they were really awesome. I had the andouille Bolognese and everything tasted super fresh and great. Wife had the seafood pasta. She enjoyed it. They were good about getting us more adult beverages. They kept bringing bread but not enough for the table so we were ripping bread apart to share.

This place is terrible. The chargrilled oysters were not cooked all the way, and they tasted like they were burned from the grill. I also ordered the shrimp plate, but some of them were cleaned and others left filthy dirty. I tried the one in Fat City a few years ago, and had the same problem with the oysters being undercooked. I will not be going back to this restaurant. Sorry Tommy you need to sit down and eat a meal from your place I guarantee you will not like what you get.

Not the greatest restaurant experience i've ever had.. You'd think a restaurant within the hotel would be much better. Ordered a Pinot Grigio that tasted as if it was watered down.. blech. Wasn't the biggest fan of their Pasta Jambalaya and Shrimp & Grits with Tasso. But that's just my opinion. The main reason for this rating not being lower than 2.5 is that the Oysters were good and service was fast.. although a little too fast in my books. Food was pretty much just tossed on our table. I understand that its a busy place but they need to slow it down a little and take the time for better customer service.

Awesome again!!
Great oysters and today's cocktail was Dragon Blood, yummy if you like sweet punch like drinks. William served us and he was awesome as well, made our dinner special!

Absolutely great food and service. The lobster and oysters was great. Not to crowded and very pleasant atmosphere. I would recommended to all looking to get a taste of New Orleans.

We wanted to eat at the restaurant after the office christening party. They would not seat us because our whole was not there. This is a Monday night and the restaurant was empty REALLY. Talked to manager and he said repeated the same thing. My problem with this is that he lost about $1,000 check. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE . Never will visit that place again and we are locals. 😕

My first visit to the restaurant. The location at The Hilton is super busy. The food was decent. I went with a group of 7 others. The charbroiled oysters were awesome. I had the gumbo and it was a tad bit on the salty side. I also ordered the rosemary potatoes and had to send them back because some were inedible because they were overcooked and the others were undercooked. The potatoes were remade but the "rosemary" was no where to be "tasted." Overall, if you are going for oysters, it's a great experience. Anything other than oysters...Olive Garden may be a better option.

Food was hot and decent but not at all authentic. Felt red lobsterish. Defeniatly chain resturaunt feeling. Over priced fo sho. Everything was hot when delivered but got cold very quick. Like when you nuke something. Shrimp were not fresh caught guld shrimp. Had that frozen shrimp feeling to it. Only reason they are getting a 2.5 is because everything was hot when served or they would be getting a 1 on food quality because everything was definatly frozen food. Waiter and service were good.

Fantastic menu. Love dragos! charbroiled oysters! large variety of lobster combined with small portions of other entrees. everything is awesome and the place is giant so can host large parties. just wish there were more around the city
Annie Chu
It’s a completely unforgettable experience and has about the same attention to detail as your average chain restaurant. Just, with more butter.

Best charbroiled oysters ever! A must have if you are visiting NOLA! Casual atmosphere with amazing seafood. I highly recommend visiting this gem!

I've been to the Drago's in Metairie and it was great but the one in New Orleans (Hilton Hotel) was very disappointing. Drago's is famous for their oysters and we ordered a dozen. Every one was shucked badly and had pieces of shell in them. I felt as though we were being rushed the entire time. The server brought our salads before the appetizer which was very strange and before we had finished the appetizer she brought the entrees. The wait staff kept trying to remove dishes that we were still working on and the server brought the check before we had finished eating. She never even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. I felt like I was eating in a factory restaurant. As for the meals, they were only passable. The catfish was cold and the chicken pasta dish had dry, over-breaded chicken and thin watery sauce that tasted like it came from a can. Overall not what we expected from this famous brand.

Drago's Struggles - Poor Service. My family decided to go to Drago's for Dinner the day after Christmas. We held high expections based on reviews and word of mouth recommendations. Our experience started by the waiter taking 15 minutes to get our drink order. Once drinks were delivered, we ordered the "Famous" grilled oysters. These were delivered within 5 minutes of ordering (this is a plus but keep reading). The issue was that the oysters were only warm and were no different than grilled oysters from other restaraunts. The grill was located 2 tables from us so these oysters should have been steaming hot. While eating the oysters, we placed our order for dinner. An hour after eating our oysters, our main dishes still had not been served. When we asked about of order, the waiter went to check. He came back and stated it would be another 8-10 minutes for our food. After another 15 minutes, we "hunt" down a manager to find out what is going on. She did check on the food but there were no apologizes for the poor service at this time. Once the food arrived, it was evident that two of the 4 meals had been reheated by a microwave due to hot and cold spots through out. The one positive of this experience was that the shrimp pasta meal was excellent. The other parts of the meal was not up to par for a $$$ restaraunt. The manager did make adjustments to the tab but it still cost $70.00 for mediocre oysters, adult beverages and shrimp pasta. My family would not recommend that you eat at this establishment unless you just want to say you have been to Drago's. New Orleans has better choices for this type of meal.
Cynthia
They do NOT clean their shrimp, disgusting. Food cooked without seasoning, fried shrimp and catfish. Oysters had sand in them, also had to send them back.
Mnjinvestorsllc
All I can say is "Outstanding"! The chargrilled oysters are to die for! If visiting New Orleans, you must check it out, food and service are without a doubt the absolute best!!

Completely forgettable. Besides the chargrilled oysters it was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Easily the worst service I have ever received. I ordered the seafood pasta. It was bland and tasteless. It was supposed to contain shrimp and crabmeat although the latter was non existent. Certainly will not be back again.

After reading the reviews about the bad service, we attempted to go to the Metairie location but they were closed for their annual vacation. Warily, we drove to the CBD location. Mind you this is during Essence fest, on a Saturday night (an incredibly busy time). After a long wait, our group of 5 sat down and enjoyed prompt service of AMAZING charbroiled oysters, the best lobster Mac and cheese we've had, the stuffed lobster, the redfish, and the blackened mixed grill (which they substituted redfish for the catfish upon our request- for an upcharge). Our server Marina was amazing. She was polite, friendly, and full of personality. The only lag in the meal came at the time for the check; we were wondering what happened until she came out with a complimentary dessert for my fathers birthday. She apologized for the delay, and explained that she'd been trying to find a candle for his dessert. Great meal, great service- even during a very busy and hectic time.

Solid Like. Took in dinner at Drago's at the Hilton on the Riverwalk and had an enjoyable meal. Sampled half a dozen char-grilled oysters and an order of Oyster Voisin. The char-grilled oysters were good, not great, they were totally acceptable for just about any place but the one who claims to have invented the dish. I really expected better from Drago's. The Oysters Voisin on the other hand was excellent. The dish is four fried oysters served with creamy bordalaise sauce with bacon, spinach, parm cheese served over slices of French bread. This was a well thought out dish that works well, it was executed well and the dish worked. The service we received was average. In all this was a enjoyable dining experience.

Trying to be nice but BARF. I love fried eggplant. It was frozen not fresh. I can fry eggplant better The so called famous smoked oysters were nasty. I ordered half dozen left 5.5 oysters on
The platter. First and last time dinning there
Msufan_1997
Not what I expected from a New Orleans icon!!. Limited menu and less than friendly staff at this location. I've never been to Dragos in Metarie...it has to be better than this!!! Pasta jambalaya tasted like it came from a can. The shrimp definitely were not local fresh. Others in our party were not impressed with their entrees either. I've has chargrilled and raw oysters from a lot of places and, yes I know you get shells and grit sometimes, but our oysters were inedible they had so many shell slivers. And the raw oysters were plain nasty!!! They tasted like they had washed all of succulent, salty juices off of them and put 'em back on the shells. Even my pre-meal martini was less than desirable!! Asked for bleu cheese stuffed olives and they couldn't make it happen. Chain restaurants can do that!! Too many wonderful restaurants in New Orleans for me to be going back to this one. I'll take a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant that can put out great food over the "name" of a restaurant any day
Smilingstrange
Food was pretty good (Jambalaya Pasta) but the service was bad. I had to ask for refills on my water, plates, napkins...pretty much everything. The waitress just wasn't friendly.
Crystal Penton Bennett
Very disappointed in this location, I expect better service and better food. The crabmeat Au Grautin was serve with stale chips and my chargrilled oysters weren't cook properly. Sad sad sad

Excellent charbroiled oysters, seafood gumbo fantastic and the shrimp and corn bisque amazing.
David W. Laughlin
I was shorted on dozen of oysters ordered while friends at same table received well over a dozen.
Waitres said she would correct problem but never did.
Shrimp and grits on menu, and I asked for oysters and grits. Waitres said they would get it and that chef said they would add to the menu.
Oysters and grits were very bitter. Not even close to the shrimp and grits "awesome flavor" my friends had.
Cathy Burns
We are regulars at the Drago's in Metairie and expected the same downtown. Oysters were great!! Disappointed in the very limited menu. Walked in ready for chargrilled lobster and spinach risotto but it wasn't on the limited menu. Settled for a salad that was good but not as mouth watering as the other could have been.

New found flavors. This is the first time I've tried Drago's, and it won't be my last! I had the chargrilled oysters and they were absolutey spectacular! The butter & Parmesan cheese seems so simple, but I cannot find anything close to this taste. So now I've found a new fav oyster bar! Luv it!!
Localyokel1976
There is little argument, in my opinion, that their charbroiled oysters are the best thing in town. Simply exquisite. They literally can't be described in words ... They are that good. Just the simple fact that all these other restaurants followed Dragos lead & now offer an attempt at recreating them is proof of how great they truly are.

The problem I run into w/ Dragos is that the rest of the menu just can't compete after eating these oysters. Your best bet??? Order a dozen for an app.... Than order 12 more as your entree. Can't go wrong there.
Phillip Boswell
Food was good (short ribs, charbroiled oysters, etc) service was ok. Atmosphere sucked and it didn't help that on an un crowded nite they sat a very large, very obnoxious party right next to us such that our group couldn't even talk to each other the whole meal. There were unused sections they could have seated the party away from the 2-3 families in our area.
Pompiere
Charbroiled Oysters!!. I cannot speak to anything but the charbroiled oysters, but I can say I didn't need or want anything else (maybe stretchy pants!). The oysters are what they're known for and with good reason. If you like oysters, butter or garlic or any combination thereof, you'll love these! These will be the first thing I remember when I recall our time in New Orleans.

UPDATE May 2019 : Other than the 50 min wait at 3 pm, the 2 dozen char broiled oysters are near perfection. Long wait but when we were seated about 60% of the tables were open and the waitstaff was complaining they didn’t have more seated. At $21 a dozen this is worth it!
Cat
The waiter got my salad order wrong, and the mahi mahi was dry and overcooked. The manager took care of our meal, but with all the hype around Drago's I expected it to be amazing and was very disappointed.

The charbroiled oysters were to die for. Hubby got crabmeat au gratin which was pretty awesome too. We both got stuffed whole lobsters and they were perfectly done. They are fast too no wait time at all very friendly wait staff. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone you will not be disappointed

Best Fried Oysters. Their claim to fame may be the charbroiled oysters (which by the way are garlicky, buttery goodness), but their fried oysters are unbeatable. The oysters are plump and the flour coating is seasoned and thick but not too thick. I've been all over the U.S. and oysters just don't get any better than this. Feeling naughty? Indulgent? Top them with brie, which is a different experience in and of itself.

For a high volume restaurant, they serve a better than average fare. The chargrilled oysters were very good but really Gulf oysters are not at their best in August. The seafood gumbo was loaded and flavorful but very salty (I know, it's New Orleans). The grilled shrimp had a kick and the portion was generous. A fun crowd, service was fine, overall a good experience.

Really. I don't.. I'm visiting from out of town. Having tried char-grilled oysters for the first time at Acme Oyster House on Monday I had to try them at Drago's on Tuesday to see who did the better job. I got here around 3 and there was no wait, which was nice (I hear that sometimes you have to wait a while for a table). I ordered half a dozen as an appetizer. I asked about the soups but they all had shrimp in them. I don't eat shrimp. I opted for a salad instead. For my entree I ordered the Char-grilled Lobster with the Spinach Risotto. They have lobster prepared other ways and in various sizes (no size option when you get it char-grilled) but some of those other ways have stuffing or sauces that, according to the menu, include shrimp. I don't eat shrimp. I do eat spinach, and as far as I know "risotto" means "mixed up with rice" so I figured I was okay with the Char-grilled lobster. I've only had a whole lobster twice before (at other restaurants, not here). The first time it was terribly overcooked and was like eating rubber. The second time it was cooked correctly and very tasty, though I didn't like the claws as much as the tails. This would be my third time.

The salad was nothing special but it was okay. The char-grilled oysters were very good. After eating the oysters I used the crusty bread to sop up all the buttery goodness left behind. Mmmm good.

Then came the char-grilled lobster. It was pre-split for me. They were kind enough to leave the face in the kitchen. The tail, legs and claws were arranged on the platter with a little container of butter and the Spinach Risotto--WHAT THE HECK IS ALL THAT SHRIMP DOING IN MY SPINACH RISOTTO?

By the time I was finished picking them out I had 15 pieces of shrimp on my empty salad plate. Left behind was rice, sausage, (is this gumbo? I don't know, I'm not from these parts and have never had it before. It sure didn't look like what I thought spinach risotto would look like. I couldn't see anything that looked like spinach at all.) I asked my waitress if they'd put the wrong thing on the plate but she assured me it was spinach risotto. I'm wasn't convinced then and I'm not convinced now, but why argue about it--I had lobster to eat. And eat it I did.

I was frustrated that I couldn't get any meat out of the itty bitty legs but I don't blame Drago's for that. After all this was only my 3rd lobster and I may not have been doing it right. The tail was quite tasty. But those claws! Oh, mama! I don't know what Drago's did to this lobster that the other places I've had it don't do, but they sure did it right. The claws tasted better than the tails. They were wonderful. I almost ordered another one (minus the spinach-less spinach risotto). I wish the chef at Drago's would share his secret with the restaurants in my city.

My only real complaint was with the wet-nap that came with the platter. When I took it out of the little package it was dry as dust. The last thing I did before leaving was eat one of those 15 shrimp, just to be able to say I tried one. I chewed it with an open mind. I swallowed it with an open gullet. After due consideration I can honestly say: I don't eat shrimp.

DON'T order the chicken sausage gumbo!! It came scorched and not eatable. But the still charged for it. I expect a $12 bowl of gumbo to be eatable. The onion rings are made from scratch but must have been cooked hours earlier. Barely warm.

Disappointed. Went to Drago's Saturday night for our anniversary. Spent $110 for two of us with no cocktails. Over priced for what we got. Lobster mac appetizer was cold on top but warm on the bottom. Not sure how that happens in an oven. I ordered seafood stuffed lobster but there was more stuffing than seafood. Prior to this visit, I had not been to Drago's in 14 years. Not the quality I remember. Tried to impress my wife. I impressed her with my poor choice of restaraunts for our anniversary.
BR
It was ok - not great, but not bad. Overrated in general.
Lisa Fontenot Lynch
Metairie Location is Better. I went for the first time with a friend who had eaten at the Metairie location before. She said that location was better. In fact, the doorman at our hotel said that tourists eat at the Hilton location, and locals eat at the other. The chargrilled oysters were ok, but covered in so much butter that I felt awful afterward. For the price, I would choose another restaurant.
Ricklozano
Not impressed at all. The char grilled oysters and the lobster Mac and cheese were the only good things here. Too bad the (expensive) entrees weren't good at all. Do not order the tuna pasta, it isn't good.
If I was to come here again it would be for a happy hour with appetizers but nothing else. Hated that I wasted a great NOLA meal here.
FoodAdventurer
Char broiled epic WIN! The oysters here are almost too good to be true. It is an upper scale restaurant, so most entrees are $20 and up, but everything was prepared well. The shrimp and grits had a spicy Cajun kick and the duck was incredible. Our waitress was nice enough but slow with the check. If I come back to NoLa, I'll definitely be back!
Cnd
Yummmmm! Oysters were fan-tastic! We had good service, and no wait. Came specifically for the oysters, and were not disappointed. Definitely a must!
Lynn
Great oysters!!!!. Went to the NO for a girls weekend and asked a local where to go for great seafood, she suggested drago's. Food was great, kinda pricey but worth it. You must try the chargrilled oysters, they're awesome!!!!
CajunKate
Good Stuff!. We decided to try this place on a whim. My friend loves oysters, so I thought he might enjoy this place. He had a dozen raw, and I had a 1/2 dozen chargrilled. I thoroughly enjoyed both. He said he didn't think the raw had enough oyster flavor and made no comment on the chargrilled. I had the shrimp and grits for my entree. This was simply delicious! Really spicy and the shrimp were nicely cooked. My friend had the lobster. He did not like it. Said it was overlooked and rubbery.
I don't think I'll add this to my list of go to places in NOLA, but I wouldn't turn down an invitation to eat here again.
The BBQ Wizard
Just finished my oysters and stuffed lobster tail. This is so good, you have to eat here
Kookookachoo
Appallingly bad. Located on the ground floor of Hilton right on the water, this is not a bad hotel. There is no excuse for a decent hotel to have a restaurant serving food that is this badly done. The po boys are just adequate, the fries are only slightly better than fast food places, but the étouffée was the worst. It looked like bourbon street gutter gravy, a sloppy mess with a loose slap of rice in it. The rim of the plate was spattered with whatever flew up when the rice was tossed in and burned bits of something which is weird because it arrived cooler than room temperature. No attempt was made to try for attractive presentation. None. The flavor was very similar to what public school canned chicken gravy (If memory serves) tastes like. Looked like it too. Theres nothing wrong with public school food, but it doest come with an $18 a plate price tag either. Described as a brown roux shrimp étouffée, if this has seen a brown roux, I'm a monkey's uncle. A clean plate edge costs nothing and whomever is running the kitchen clearly doesn't give a flying fart about serving food with any sense of pride. This is a kitchen that care forgot. Run, don't walk away from Drago's.
Service, as an aside, was pleasant, but a happy waiter doesn't change the food quality.
MzAdventurous
Not that impressed. Food was average, service was less than adequate. I would try this restaurant again with a smaller party.

On Monday 2/4/13 I visited dragos by the Hilton at maybe 5pm. The host gave me a table that was covered underneath in cracker/bread crumbs and napkins. I ordered my apps and entrees and the menu's stayed on my table almost the entire dining experience. My entree was BBQ DRUM FISH, THE WORST EVER. I have yet 2 figure out the BBQ part of that fish. The seafood creme sauce was cold. The dressing, not only wasn't hot but horrible. The fish was very wet and tasted like bland mashed potatoes. I will never return, the price wasn't worth the experience. I've been 2 dragos b 4 and the food was good but not anymore.
FoodSlut
Great Service, 3 of 4 stars on food quality. Fantastic Service, kid friendly yet sophisticated and upscale.
Brian Borel
There are many great restaurants in New Orleans. That being said this one attaches to the Hilton Riverside so it is very easy if staying at the hotel. The Charbroiled oysters were very good. Drinks were poured healthy. The breading on my fried shrimp was a little heavy for my liking, but not oily. My son said the crab fingers were great. Service was quick and friendly. I have no complaints.
Geaux
A must on any bucketlist. Chargrilled oysters are incredible, oh the butter and bread give you extra bites of flavor. I think this location is up to par with the original site. Pass on Acme if they have a line of tourists. The charbroiled oysters are better at Dragos, and fried oysters are better at Felix's and Dragos.
Aliciaakelly
Big disappointment. After hearing so much about Drago's, we tried it for dinner last night. What a major disappointment! Their "famous" oysters were miniscule, dry, & nothing but cheese & garlic; the Mediterranean crab salad was lettuce & bland crab meat. I wish I had listened to my friends and gone to Palace Cafe instead!
Lauren
Don't let the negative reviews fool you! Go into dragos...ask for JERRY (he was one of the best servers I've ever had and I waited tables for ten years and know good service) get the chargrilled oysters for sure and shrimp and grits if you like spicy. One of the best meals I've ever had!
Isilwath Theresa Imparato
Expensive but very good. Went there for lunch with a friend. The charbroiled oysters are everything they say they are. Amazing! Had the shrimp & corn soup & the Mediterranean Crab salad. Fantastic lunch! It's on the pricey side, but not ridiculously so.
Victoria Golden
Came for the chargrilled oysters. Tasted good, but small. They are larger and better at Acme. Oh and cheaper on most menu items
Its About The Food
Only Oysters. The only item worth visiting this restaurant for are the oysters. They are the best that I have ever had. I tried three other apps and the stuffed lobster. Everyone at my table of five were underwhelmed. This place is pricey and not worth it. There are too many great restaurants in this town that offer more bang for the buck.
Laura
Painfully slow service. (waited over 20 min for our check.) heavy overly sauced food.
Honomac
The main dishes weren't much to brag about. If you go, go for drinks and the chargrilled oysters. That's the only reason I voted "Like". It's pricy but then again, what big name restaurant in the city isn't.
Ben Heusted
We were told we had to go to Dragos to try the charbroiled oysters. They were very good but over priced. Our waitress was also very rude and snotty. I asked her if they served boiled crawfish and she stuck her nose up at me and said "This isn't that kind of restaurant.". Well excuse me, I thought I was in a seafood restaurant in New Orleans.
Lezlie
Excellent charbroiled oysters and BBQ shrimp!!
Lewis
Great oysters. Gotta get the chargrilled oysters. Nuff said
Jane.mcconnell
Charbroiled Oysters!!!!. The Charbroiled oysters at Drago's was one of the best bites of food that I had while visiting New Orleans. The garlicy goodness surrounding the oysters was divine. My husband and I went there for lunch and enjoyed a dozen oysters each along with an icy gin and tonic and left very satisfied.
Rudy
Great oysters. The chargrilled oysters were amazing! My wife's crab dip appetizer was not hot. She liked the flavor, I didn't. I had the Shuckee Duckee, and the duck was wonderful! My wife had the grilled shrimp pasta, which was also very good. Next time we're in town, we'll be back, but I think I'll just order enough chargrilled and raw oysters to make a meal. It's not that their entrees are bad, those oysters are just amazing,
Misha
Chargrilled oysters were excellent! But the server told me the special, which was soft shelled crab, so I ordered it. She then came back to tell me they were sold out. So I settled for blackened chicken pasta, it was not very good. I would just eat oysters and go somewhere else for a full meal...
Nicole Bieganski
What a horrible experience. Had a surly server who was downright insulting. We actually just walked out after ordering drinks, informing the server that we would not be staying.
Joe E
Lauren's service was impeccable and the "shucky ducky" (duck breasts with sautéed oysters over linguine) was devine...perhaps even my new, all-time favorite. I'll be talking about this dish for years to come.
Amy
Quality is slipping.... This location is just not as good as the Metairie one. 2 out of the last 3 times I have been, they barely put any garlic butter on the chargrilled oysters at all- half the experience is dipping the bread in the garlicky goodness! Seafood pasta was extremely bland (used to be my favorite dish.) Someone at the table got the seafood platter, and it tasted like it was fried in old grease. Dragos was always on the "Must take out of town guests" list, but sad to say I don't feel that way anymore. I will just stick with Metairie if I get a craving for chargrilled oysters.....
John Meyers
Well for one Thing, when I call to see how late you are open for char grilled oysters and you tell me 10pm and when I get there you tell me we have not had oysters for two days due to a kitchen malfunction? Come on and be professional and tell me that when I call, very very poor service.
Janaesd
Mediocre food, ok service and expensive for the quality. A sad end to our trip
JW3
Charbroiled Oysters!. This place invented the charbroiled oyster and they are still the masters! Served with a big ole hunk of french bread to sop up the goodness. Check it out!
Glen
Service has been spotty at best the times we have gone...but those Char Broiled Oysters...worth it. Just go sit in the bar and order a few dozen of these for your group and you will be set.
Ricky
The service was good. The lobster was hot and good , dipped in butter sauce. Fries catfish was good.
Eric
The oysters were excellent and the drinks were great! Hurricanes are half the size of one at Pat obriens but they are just as good!
Rhb
Fabulous oysters, undistinguished entrees. The chargrilled oysters are fabulous, so tasty. However, our party of 6 all agreed that our entrees were a bit bland. I had a seafood au gratin. Unfortunately the au gratin overwhelmed the seafood. It was very busy, so it took awhile to get the first drink orders, but after that everything proceeded ok. Very noisy and crowded.
RPerlow
We always get the oysters: raw, charbroiled, brochette. Sit at the oyster bar and chat up the shuckers.
Justin
Come for the appetizers of oysters (charbroiled or raw) but go somewhere else for the main course. Everyone in my party of six was disappointed in their food. It was just below par. My shrimp raviolis had four tiny shrimp on them Four! And the sauce was completely flavorless. The gumbo was also flavorless and there was so much rice that you could barely tell if it was seafood or chicken. Definitely Pass on food. Too expensive for small flavorless portions!
BarbaraAnn
Service was good, but lobster was disgusting. Cold. Tough. Never eating there again. I didn't realize that it was a big feeding trough for rednecks and I didn't realize that old Dragos would let something like this happen to the quality of their food.
David S.
I and never had chargrilled oysters and I will not ever forget them. Wow! Hard to explain but you have to have them.
Too-Fat The Food Snob
Go for the charbroiled oysters. Then leave. If a middle school lunchroom had "Seafood Night" you could imagine what it would be like by eating here. The only redeeming factor was that the service was excellent. But that's not enough to bring me back. Shame on you Hilton. Nobody likes a cold lobster.
BMac
SOO DISAPPOINTING!. I am a frequent visitor of the dragos in bucktown...of course the oysters are a must have...and they are always delicious in bucktown, so i didn't hesitate when my cousin suggested the one downtown....BIG MISTAKE!!! the oysters were extremely disappointing...the (what i can only assume is some form of) butter what thrown on like it was an afterthought. not to mention all 3 dozen oyster were so gritty we could barely finish them...it sucks bc of all the tourist traffic that place gets and it doesn't even live up to the original Dragos name! needless to say...ill stick to my usual bucktown location!!
A.N.
Oysters. The best charboiled oysters you can find is here! & their lobsters isn't bad either
Greenlight
OK but can be skipped. In a city full of food, Drago's can be skipped. We had the chargrilled oysters which were tasty and the juices and butter amazing to sop up with French bread (which was too tough for my liking). My friend got the blackened redfish which was good but not spectacular. I got the shrimp and grits, the server warned me that it was spicy and it was, so be careful if you don't like really spicy food! Besides the spice, the dish was OK but I wish I had ordered differently.
Zoo
Worth the wait!. Long wait for a table and our waitress once we were seated. Was worth the wait once our food arrived!! Charbroiled oysters are orgasmic!!! My wife had a seafood fondue appetizer that was more than enough as a meal, and it was quite awesome as well!!! We could have eaten sooner at the bar if we only wanted the oysters (fine with me honey). $7.25 for a Mich Ultra was bit much! All in all, I will be back for more oysters!!!
Jermaine
This restaurant was excellent. I went there based off of the reviews that I read about the charbroiled oysters and believe me it was well worth it. They literally melt in your mouth. If for no other reason go for the oysters.
Jared Stimson
Surprising. I am normally scared of any hotel restaurant but this was surprisingly great. I went for a quick business meeting and ordered a cup of the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. It was so great that I ordered another bowl of it and still wish I had more.
Cindy
Oysters are worth the visit. The chargrilled oysters are amazing. I wasn't even an oyster fan until I tried these, and they will make a believer out of anyone. One lunch item that was extremely good was the shrimp linguini. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sauce on the pasta was delicious.

A few nights later I had the shrimp and grits. This is where they lost me. The grits tasted like instant and not cooked enough at that, and the shrimp reminded me of rubber. The tasso ws pretty blah as well. It was disappointing that this meal wasn't as good as I had had there earlier in the week but the oysters overrode all to make it an overall pleasant experience.

The service wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great.
Monnisa
Just finished a late lunch. My husband had the Chard Oysters and he loved them. He also ordered the crabcake from the appetizer menu and it was unbelivablly good. Our waiter said that you can actually order them as a meal but it is not in the menu. If we are ever back in the Big Easy and we eat her I'll definitely order them.
Pistols42
Tourist trap. Oysters were tiny. Shrimp appetizer was cold.
Service was incredibly slow. Spend your money
elsewhere.

-----04 May, 2011-----

Good experience. Parking is easy in ITM/Hilton garage.
Drago's validates for a discount.
Charbroiled oysters are as good as Met. location.
Ambiance is a little more ferevnt as this location is large.
Lobsters are a great deal.
Stephen
I had the Charbroiled Oysters at Drago's Seafood Restaurant, while I was in New Orleans for a sales conference (a few months before the BP oil spill). I initially thought the idea of grilling oysters was crazy, until I had my first one. Delicious! I hope the gulf oyster population recovers.
Mel
Culinary treat. The charbrolied oysters are an absolute dream! Glad to find out that it was not all hype. My other fave was the shrimp and grits with tasso. Spicy, flavorful and portions were huge. Also a plus, the wait staff were efficient and extremely polite.
Jessica Keating
One of my greatest indulgences. I prefer the Drago's Downtown over the Drago's in Metairie, but either will satisfy me when I'm craving charbroiled oysters. Just beware of parking at the Hilton when dining at the Drago's downtown.
Bayounurse
Chargrilled oysters. Nuff said!!
Trang Nguyen
First time to this particular location.. It looks fancier and it has more room... Great for large groups.. But I would have went to the other location bc the food was better.. We wined and dined.. But were not satisfied... Ekkkkkkk... Meats were dry as heckkkkk... Lobster dishh was okayyyy.. Not too big of a lobster fan, but the stuffing was good!! Hahha... The dessert.. Mann a thumbs down.. Emerils did it better on that one.... The waiter?!? Awww Mann.. Wasn't really talking and stuff much.. We had to track him for refills... But he still got a good tip... Geez...anyways.. For the price we paid and the food we ate.. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!
Grill N Duck
Champagne Bloody Marys and Chargrilled Oysters. Its a long walk from the quarter but friends have a tradition to start off each trip to New Orleans here. 3 dozen grilled 5 bloody Marys and 2 splits of champers later and we were ready to roll on to the next stop. Watched the grillers at work and marveled at the flavor just a little bit of flame and charring can impart. A must stop for this delight. We ate at the bar and only had the oysters but its a technique I'll try to duplicate. M-M-M-M-M
Mr C
Best Grilled oysters PERIOD! And the stuffed lobster was the BOMB!!!!
Aimeee
Best grilled oysters ever! Don't bother with the menu just order the grilled oysters by dozen or half dozen. You won't be disappointed. Best in the city.
Urbanspoon Gimp
For Tourists. Metairie is better. The Metairie location, the original, is far better, but both are too pricey. They made a name for themselves and are now profiting off it. It's good, but too expensive. Tourists go to the downtown one. Locals sometimes eat at the Metairie one.
VLS
The other location Is better. Oysters weren't shucked properly.
The Roaming Mojito Master
Don't look at the menu just point to the oyster grill and say bring me 2 orders and don't even think about sharing.
Tiney Ho
Yum!. I was pretty impressed with Drago's. I'm not a fan of raw oysters but their charbroiled oysters are so good! You could smell the butter coming at you as the waiter brings it to your table. The oysters are completely drenched in whatever awesome sauce they're covered in and they're so tasty.

My friends and I went for lunch and I really liked the decor of Drago's within the Hilton. It's a pretty open area and it was really nice to see the light shining through the ginormous windows. You could dress nice or you could dress casual. The service was good and our waitress was cute and quirky.

I ended up getting the crabmeat au gratin dip as my entree. Of course I couldn't finish it because it's huge and my friends had some of it, but I still had to take it home which I had no problem with. Love leftovers! The crabmeat au gratin dip was a perfect blend of crabmeat and cheese!

My friends thoroughly enjoyed their gumbo and one of them got the special which from what I recall was a red fish with crab meat on top. I was kind of envious. Next time though!
Leonard
Oysters. The chargrilled oysters lived up to the billing. Amazing oysters like I've never had before. I can't say enough good things about them. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. I wished there was some way I could eat the shell. The service I found to be a little disappointing, but it seemed as though our waiter may have been new. The only thing we ate here was the oysters and while I'm sure the rest of the menu is good as well, when we go back, its probably all that we'll eat again.
Jamie Tugwell
The oysters were FABULOUS a must eat while in new Orleans Its all about the oysters at Drago's
SajMom
A little slow to give service - sitting at the oyster bar only 1 person. But the chargrilled oysters made up for the wait. As soon as the order was placed the cook -Michael had them sitting in front of me. Sizzling hot. Yum. Don't think it can get better, dip a roll into the sauce and savor. I ended on an oyster though.
Winford
DAMN GOOD! You can't beat the chargrilled oysters. I had the Fleur de lis shrimp too! Service was exceptional. I ate at the bar where Ginna, the bartender, treated all of her patron with the utmost courtesy. With the Mardi Gras crowd coming tonight there was no delay in seating large parties. The main dining room is quite large. It's worth the wait!
Jesse
Twelve of us went to Drago's for a birthday dinner and after waiting for over one hour we were seated at two separate tables. The manager did not seem to be to concerned over our dissatisfied.
Jpw
I had the shukky dukky and everyone loved it at my table. My mother had the eggplant dish and it was decent. Biggest eggplant medallions I have ever seen. Everyone else had fish special and it was good too. Mine was the best!
Stinky
Still Good Oysters. While I enjoy the original location in Fat City better, this one inside the Hilton is still a great place to eat. Especially the Char-broiled oysters. The menu is a good full New Orleans menu and everything I've had here has been good and their wine list is always impressive. The atmosphere is newer and shinier than the Metairie location, and on weekends it is just absolutely packed, but there's usually only a short wait for a table, and the bar is a fun place to hang out while you wait. But I still want to recommend it for the tourists who don't wander far from the quarter. (Remember guys, the ENTIRE city has amazing things to offer, so get out there!) Service is great, and prices aren't out of line for the area. Go sit by the grill to watch how an amazing dish is created!
John
The charbroiled oysters and crab dip here very good. I thought that Acme was better, however. The po boy was huge and could easily feed 2 people.

First time back in years was for my 25th anniversary (Apr. 2016). My wife and I feasted and had a great time. Here are some impressions based on just this one recent visit.

The food was as good as you'd expect. The last time I went a few years ago, I'd gushed that these were my favorite chargrilled oysters, beating out Felix and Acme etc. Had them again and we agreed -- good as ever. Just perfect amount of butter (not swimming in oily liquid, but enough to mop up with the french bread), perfect seasoning and cheese. Large, fresh. Shucked without lots of tiny slivers of shell.

I got the stuffed lobster and my wife a 1.5-1.75 pound boiled. Utterly great. Each came with an adequate salad, and hers with three big new potatoes. My margaritas were big, strong and tasty.

What wasn't perfect? Service was a hair weak. Pleasant server, but a little absent minded. When we ordered a second round of drinks he disappeared for a long time and when we flagged him it took still longer to finally get the drinks. Brought the wrong dressing on my salad. No extra napkins for the messy lobsters. etc. My wife ordered a wine that was on the menu but they were out of. Her second choice was a featured one of the same grape. Also out of. So to have that type of wine she was forced to go up $3 a glass in price. They really should have offered it at the lower price of the others wines she had attempted. Not a huge deal, but just not you expect when you spend almost $100 a person at dinner.

The decor and atmosphere, we knew, doesn't really match the strength of the food and drinks. Bland sort of sponge painted beige walls, exposed black duct work, diner style tables and chairs, and very noisy. Not the most elegant, funky or romantic setting.

Again, food was basically perfect and had a blast. apr '16

Don't ever miss the chance to eat here or the store in Metairie for their chargrilled oysters. Absolutely addictive. Good service at both locations is a plus.
Nathan Mumphrey
I have to agree with a lot of what has been said in the other reviews. The oysters are the best I have (and probibly will ever have) taisted. I found their other dishes very enjoyable, but I must say the servers were horrible. The server gave off the vibe that I should be thanking them for being there and that it is an honor to have THEM serve me......so in short go there by all means and enjoy great food, but the waiters/servers need to find their heads and pull them out.
Kathy Lee
Another vote for Charbroiled Oysters. As everyone said before me, try the charbroiled oysters on the half-shell. They're bites of heaven, each morsel is drenched in garlic butter. I don't like oysters but I didn't mind eating them here. Their sauce drowns out the bitter taste of the oysters.

Other menu items I wanted to try: the stuffed lobster and po' boys. I wish I didn't come here stuffed. I would've had a feast. I wanted to try half the menu.

The restaurant is nice, I was at the bar and the service was okay. I recommend tourists to make the drive out from the Quarters to experience this place. Also, attached to the Hilton is a large mall that has a Cafe Du Monde in it. Afterwards, you can stop for beignets.
Bill Mac
Not much other than Oysters. Drago's may well be the Heavyweight Oyster Champion of the Crescent City, however that is the only award I will even consider giving the downtown restaurant. The "World Famous" Charbroiled Oysters served up at this highly touted New Orleans restaurant are definitely deserved of the title. These perfectly seasoned and grilled mollusks melt in your mouth. I highly recommend stopping in and ordering a few dozen. That being said... Don't stick around for any other reason. The food, with exception to the beautiful little bivalves, is eatable at best. I had send my meal back twice before it was cooked. The food is not the only thing in this restaurant I found subpar. The service acts more like convention banquet helpers than restaurant waiters. There was a cold and transactional air with every exchange with the staff. Easily noticed was the lack of customer service skills you would find in other restaurant professionals in New Orleans.
Chargrilled oysters are great, but the service at the Hilton is spotty at best!. I could eat the charbroiled oysters at Drago's all day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. On a recent visit to the location at the Hilton, the oysters were spot on once again.

Unfortunately, the service was seriously subpar. It takes a LOT for me to complain about service, but the comedy of errors here would entail writing a novella. Suffice it to say, we went to Gordon Biersch to order entrees in this lifetime.
TORRIE'S Bail Bonds
A May Zing, I aS in awe when I saw the picture of chargeilled oysters at the hotel. I thought that looks so good but the picture always lie by the look or quantity. DRAGO'S delivered big time. If you have never had oysters please make your first time at Dragos.
Al Smith
Awesome. This is one of the great oyster houses anywhere. Which ever way you have ever dreamed of them, Drago's has them on the menu. It can be a little loud, and is not the most friendly place, but if you love oysters..this is the place.
Adam Woodruff
Raw and of course char grilled were some of the best oysters we've had. Although it ended there. The waiter had no suggestions about the wine or anything else for that matter. The seared tuna was bland to match the two whole red potatoes accompanying it. The spinach as a side item was very tasty and we passed on dessert. I suggest just oysters at Drago's.
ChewClue
These were by far some of the most scrumptious tasting oyster I have ever had. They were orgasmically good! Yes that good!
Aaron Lin
Drago’s in the Hilton in downtown NOLA specializes in charbroiled oysters and other seafood. Were these dishes hits? Good to try, but not going to return. In my slow, slow journey through...

My favorite (5 dozen in 3 days favorite) meal was hands down, the Char-Grilled Oysters from Draggo's. OH MY GOD! If you only get a chance to eat one thing in New Orleans... Head to the Riverside Hilton across from Harrah's and pull up to the shucking bar and get yourself a dozen of these heavenly oysters.
BackBayouVintage
Not the best place to go if you're on a diet, but great in moderation.

If you want to try charbroiled oysters or raw oysters this is the place for it. Although there are several other restaurants that specialize in charbroiled oysters, Dragos is the largest. Other dishes on the menu include charbroiled lo

Not sure where I heard about this place, maybe it was in Anthony Bourdain's show or just another review, the fact is that on a Saturday noon I ended in Drago's Seafood having lunch. The speciality of the place are charbroiled oysters, opened in 1969 by Drago and Klara Cvitanovich, family run place, Croatian origins, friendly service, modern atmosphere, and quiet in contrast of the madness a couple blocks away in Bourbon street
Foodhoe
It was a huge modern place, made us feel like we were dining in a mall… quite different from all the classic and traditional dining rooms we had been enjoying...Often-imitated, but never duplicated, Drago’s chargrilled oysters are dressed with garlic, butter and herbs and cooked in their shells on a hot grill. The chef shakes handfuls of finely grated cheese over the oysters during the grilling process.
