Incredible fine dining experience. I was lucky enough to snag a table here for my party of five on a Saturday night and our meal was second to none. From the moment we walked in the door, every member of the staff made us feel at home. The menu was well contemplated and the cocktails were exceptional. Excellent choice if you want to enjoy the best New Orleans has to offer.
We have visited August several times over the years and this visit was comparable to previous visits. i.e. It was very enjoyable. As usual we selected the Tasting Menu with Wine Pairings. Timing and service were excellent and each dish / wine glass was carefully described and presented. The only downside was we were surprised to notice a credit card fee on the final bill that we had not seen mentioned elsewhere. The manager spoke to us and removed the charge, although she appeared convinced the charge was mentioned elsewhere, but I admit I could not see anything on the printed menu, the menu displayed at the entrance or online.
Had not yet been to August and was looking forward to a nice dinner, in no hurry to finish. Perhaps they needed to turn our table for another couple. We were finished in 50 minutes.
Food was fantastic! Enjoyed the Oysters for appetizer and Snapper and the Wagyu for main course. Delicious!
I shared that this was an anniversary celebration but will take responsibility for not sharing with hostess that we weren’t in a hurry. We asked our server to order an appetizer “so that we could take our time”. She explained the chef was in and everything had to be ordered at once. That was fine, except the food rolled out. We got a bit of Lagniappe, five minutes later we got the app…and fifteen minutes we got dinner I was going to order a glass of wine with my steak but decided to not draw it out.
I’m likely being picky and the reviews are terrific. If I return I will set expectations for service.
I went to August to have a birthday dinner, and decided to treat myself with the sampling menu. Could not be happier with my choice. Everything was PERFECT!!! Service was great, food was delicious, the wine pairing was superb with a selection of amazing Italian wines. Everything was cooked to perfection and served on a way that would make you think if you want to eat the food or display it on a museum. I will become a regular of this amazing place.
Everything about this restaurant is FIVE stars! Food amazing, service amazing, atmosphere quiet but not too quiet. Every plate was an art piece and tasted great. Service amazing with very knowledgeable waiters. You have to come eat here at least once if you live in Nola.
Best lunch experience during the Holidays. Wonderful service. Every bite is full of flavor. Best gnocchi ever. Foie gras. Triple tail. Duck. All great.
This isn’t just a restaurant…it is an experience! Is the food amazing? YES!! Is the service amazing? YES! Do they make sure that you are taken care of from the moment you enter to the moment you leave? ABSOLUTELY!!
Every detail is taken care of. We used the private Chef’s Tasting Room and it was beyond magical. We’ve also visited the main dining area on a previous visit and it was just as amazing!
The entire staff even signed the menu for my wife’s birthday dinner! And….we met the Executive Chef!!!!!
10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Nice formal restaurant with good ambiance. For the prices, service could have been better. It was slightly delayed and for a few courses they mixed up the dishes at the table. Don’t sit by the door, strong breeze every time the door opens. Some of the lamb pieces were a little tough, it was the cut, temperature seemed fine. Overall the restaurant stands out for area.

The food was excellent however the reception and attendance by some, not all, was not to the standard of a restaurant with this reputation. The atmosphere is plain and lighting in places less than appealing to guests.
Before I review I always read other reviews. For this place, I have a hard time to understand the bad reviews and I imagine that maybe unfortunately the restaurant had some bad employees and took care of it, maybe some people have some unreachable expectations or else.
I was surprised by the limited food menu. I am used to have eat in nice places (not to brag but as a reference) and I am used to have plenty of options. But well, if you do everything on the menu perfectly that might be the key.
We took all the appetizer and I like all of them especially the foie gras and the pasta. I choose the Wagyu because I didn’t know what else to get honestly and I am not a wagyu guy, but I love steak. I saw the picture on Google and I hoped I ordered what the picture was.
Well, it was a great steak! Not too buttery at all and if you like steak, you will love this one. However, if you want specifically Japanese or Australian wagyu you will probably be disappointed. The marble is not wagyu. If you usually like the American wagyu better, you will like this one.
The American wagyu is a mix of American cow + Japanese cow. That’s why the American wagyu is closer to a traditional steak and less rich and for my perspective a way better wagyu STEAK.
Matt and Lee were very attentive, available, and nice. They are very good at keeping their heads up and that’s a very rare quality these days. In other words, I never had to look for them because either way they were getting very quick that I needed something or already anticipated it.
The wine was good and I would go for this burgundy. I think it will match very well the American taste. If you are French, don’t expect it to be incredible, but for the price the quality match.
I don’t like the sparkling water they propose. If you are like me and you never drink tap water you will be disappointed.
My dessert you can see on my pictures was not bad, but I would choose something else next time.
I highly recommend this restaurant. That’s a nice place. I think it’s also a romantic place.
The two hostesses were really nice and welcoming. (Came October 30th 2023).
