Will start off on the high notes. Briq has a very nice rooftop area, great for dining and/or drinks. There is soft string lighting as well as a candle design on the wall, all of which leads to a nice ambience in the late afternoon/evening hours. They describe their own menu as a collection of "comfort food", don't know about you but I do not consider a sea scallop crudo as comfort food but to each their own. Despite this, the menu had many interesting and enticing items. It is also designed for sharing. Their is a mixture of smaller tapas plates and some larger items. The menu encourages you to order items in such a way as to allow the whole table to share. This is a very fun and unique dining experience... when it is executed well. Briq fails to do so on all counts. I was very pleased with the blistered padre peppers and goat cheese as an appetizer. The four of us shared the "taco tower" as an entree. If I had to describe this entree in a word: laughable. The portions were sufficient for 2 people, there were 4 of us. And it costs $14.50 per person. We were only brought 4 soft corn tortillas. Despite them all disappearing immediately (there were 4 of us dining after all) we had to ask for more tortillas. After asking for a second refill we were told they were out. As a substitute they brought us stale, fried "tostada" style tortillas. The hostess was polite and cordial. The server was horrible. He had no idea what the bar was able to offer and could not make any comment on the menu. We had to ask repeatedly for water glasses to be refilled. Finally we had to ask for him to bring the check and again ask for him to take the card to run it. The price point is about right given its location, atmosphere and food items, however what also comes with this price point is an expectation of a certain level of service. Decent food and good-to-great atmosphere is completely lost on service this poor. Won't be returning and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Briq was a huge disappointment. We made an early reservation to beat the crowds during restaurant week and were completely underwhelmed by this place. It was cold and we were the only table for the waitress to focus on, but even that wasn't enough. We asked for gluten-free options and found the waitress to be overly confident and wildly incorrect, all while seemingly unwilling or blatantly lying about checking with the chef, because I was served broccoli in gluten containing sauce, and ice cream with a cone! I sent the ice cream and cone back and the scoops redelivered with the cone removed, and the server lied directly to my face that these were fresh scoops. Criminal. The owner was apologetic, but too little too late! BEWARE NOT SAFE FOR GLUTEN FREE OR ANY ALLERGY because they take nothing seriously!

The restaurant is very nice, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio and people-watching during our meal. The food was hit and miss, some of it was delicious, some of it was bland.
