Just moved to Connecticut about a week ago. Heard we needed to check out New Haven for some great pizza. Holy cow, they were not wrong. We got to Sally's on Sunday about 15 minutes after they opened. We had to wait 30 minutes or so to get a table. I can imagine you'd have to wait even longer for dinner. Whatever the wait is, it is absolutely worth it. The pizza was amazing, we had a pepperoni, potato & rosemary, a white pizza, and took a sausage pizza home! Everything was incredible, the potato pizza was excellent, never had it before but I would recommend getting a small pizza to try it. The charred crust and dough are so delicious it's hard to put into words, if you have the time, you HAVE to eat here.
The staff was great, super friendly and very helpful with it being our first time eating there.
I can't wait to go back!

Sally's is the best pizza spot in new haven hands down. Pictured here are the cheese, meatball/peperoni, and clams casino. Each one was phenomenal even though they were stuck on a 15 minute car ride. Pizza was still hot and there was still a flop. Can never go wrong with the cheese or clam. Wanted to add two meats together and that selection wasn't bad either. Tony's overall rating was a 9.2. Love this stuff! If you're from far away try to eat it while its hot don't let it sit in the box.

My only experience with Sally's was better than any recent experience I've had with Pepe's. Been a longtime fan of Pepe's but my mind might have been changed. The pies are so similar, but the sauce at Sally's was better.
Given this was my first visit, I decided to sit inside to experience the ambiance. It's old school pizza place and it doesn't look like anything's changed in decades.
Pizza was great, service was good.

You can't really talk about pizza until you've tried New Haven pizza, they say. Sally's is one of the original 3 'Apizza' places in New Haven, founded and successfully operated for decades by Italian immigrants from the Naples area. Their coal-fired thin crust pies are charred to perfection and the ingredients are top quality. It's an authentic experience that you have to try out yourself. Enjoy!

Absolutely lives up to the hype. Tried the classic tomato and cheese pie and the fresh basil white. Both incredible. Best pizza I've ever had. The hostess saw that I didn't know how the takeout process worked and brought my pizzas out to me curbside.

I heard about this place on America's Song Contest (thanks Michael Bolton!) so when I was traveling through the area I had to stop in New Haven to check it out. We went during lunchtime and there was a line outside. We waited about twenty minutes or so before a seat opened up inside. The restaurant is small but they pack a lot of booths in there. We got a pepperoni and bacon pizza which was great. They had small slices of bacon and not just crumbles. The pizzas are so big you can get away with a smaller size than you think you'll need. They don't have Coke or Pepsi, they support a local soft drink company which is cool. We tried the canoli pie which wasn't bad, but not something we would get again. Overall, we enjoyed it and would recommend it for the historical significance of the place and the authentic vibe.

Awesome! New Haven style (thin crust that starts soft then gets more crusty as you get to the edges) was great. Personally like my pizza with a little more sauce, and this was the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese for me. The sauce flavor itself was phenomenal. 100% will come back!

I’ve heard a lot about New Haven Pizza. When I was close enough not to have to take an hour drive, I figured it was worth going. A few people that I knew that live in the area said try Sally’s. They have their own parking lot which was great because it looked like street parking is limited if it’s busy. I was disappointed to get there and find out it was take out only. It definitely took away from the experience, but I understand because of COVID they are trying to keep people safe. There was a line with about three people waiting for their food. After waiting a few minutes I tried calling to place the order. Phone kept ringing although you could hear the workers inside. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come outside even after the person in front rang the bell. The hostess seemed to have an attitude and be very impatient with the customers. They were busy so she told me 35 minutes. Took a short drive and came back. Luckily the pizza was ready when promised. Brought it in the car to eat in the parking lot with inside being closed. The pizza was good, but definitely overhyped. I got a regular cheese and tomato so I could taste the pizza not the toppings. Maybe if it had toppings would have liked it better. Little too burnt around the edges for my liking. I would give them another shot. I’ll wait until the dining room reopens.
