Great meal! First time trying all- Roseti potatoes, swiss meatballs, and authentic fondue.
Excellent service! It was hopping for a Thursday night.
We went on a Friday night and we were able to get a seat at the bar. The food and service were excellent. Everything was really tasty and well prepared. Our brandy old fashioned were excellent too and the hash browns were to die for. We will definitely be back!
Never disappointed when we come here. We have eaten here 4 times now. Friday night we had the fish fry, with the Cole slaw, & German potato salad, Roesti- the hash browns with aged Swiss cheese, and a Reuben sandwich. Wow, o much food. We had enough left over for lunch the next day. Saturday evening we had the Swiss meatball dinner, Roesti, and the Caprese salad. We spilt the meal an it was plenty for 2 adults. The service was great and the food very tasty. Make sure you call ahead and make reservation they fill up fast. A must if your in town. Thank you to all the staff.
New Glarus lost some Swiss staples in town that I enjoyed visiting; Glarner Stube fortunately remains. This restaurant has a bar area in front and small back dining room offering scrumptious plates. The chef well executes the locally sourced sausages from Hoesly’s. The steak is hearty with flavorful char - no sauce required. Off course, they have New Glarus Brewery beers on tap, which is available all over Wisconsin, but seems to taste better in the ambiance of its source. I haven’t readily found the level of cheese fondue outside New Glarus, Glarner Stube certainly lends to that crown. Their thick cut Rueben ranks high on the palate. Wait staff was always friendly and accommodating no matter how busy. Not a chain restaurant, hours may sometimes change - and even somewhat “last minute” from my experience as a tourist. Additionally, need for a reservation arises occasionally; I’ve not been able to eat here once as they were at capacity till close. If just passing through or staying at one of the local Inn’s, attempting Glarner Stube should be on your “things to do” list.
My husband and I were visiting in town and decided to try this place for a fish fry after reading the reviews. Our meal was excellent! Very good food. The soup had so much beef in it. Our deep fried cod tasted better than haddock. Very sweet and light beer battered breading. Waitstaff also did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this place. Don't be intimated when you first in door. You wont be disappointed.
Beer battered curd cheese were the best. They were so light and crisp. Must try all the New Glarus sampler beers!! Their authentic Roesti (hash brown shallow fried swiss cheese) is a must try.
If I could give it 6 stars I would. The fondue is amazing, but you definitely need a group of 4 at least. The traditional Swiss dishes are also excellent. Make sure you get the Roesti potatoes, I dream about them nightly.
Very busy place with limited seating so call in advance to reserve a spot or try to be off the peak times.
A must visit place to eat.
Very nice small place. Great portion size food, as you can see from my 12 onze steak. Glad I didn't get the 24 onze. Had to give a third of it to my friends. Excellent food. Not an acohol drinker, but friends that do rated a few choices there as their top. We were doing a bike tour between Potosi and Verona visiting breweries and pubs along the way.
