This is my go to Sunday lunch. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is always fresh and most importantly delicious. It's for the most part the standard American-Chinese fare, but there is a very large menu if you want to venture off the beaten path. I've been eating here for over a year and have not had a bad meal yet, especially compared to the many buffets in the area.
When you first walk in, the decor is noticeably dated and worn, but that is where the disappointment ends. Service was good and attentive. Food was prepared well, served warm, and not disappointing. We had the sesame chicken and sweet and sour pork. The crab rangoons are also very good. Prices are reasonable, especially if you come at lunch and get the lunch special which includes soup and rice. We have already returned twice since our first visit last week.
Went for my first visit to China cottage today based off of the great reviews it has received here. Its an unassuming joint, very plain looking exterior in the strip mall between Panera and Hobby lobby. The interior was very clean, modestly decorated, and quaint. As part of the Tuesday lunch crowd i was seated and served a bowl of hot sour soup promptly. I ordered Chicken with Broccoli, it arrived made to order with a separate plate of fried rice. I found the lunch portions to be more than fair considering the $6.99 lunch price. The food was very tasty, much better than the standard buffet or take out chinese. Wait staff and management were very attentive and pleasant. I will definitely be returning to sample various dishes in the future.
Food is good most of the time. The curry duck is great. Variety is good. Eat in if possible. The soup is also good. I have had no problem with any dishes I have ordered.
Just traveling through.... Wonderful place! Great food, nice portion sizes. Staff was very friendly, very nice, helpful and attentive. Seems like they have a lot of satisfied/happy regulars. Delightful place. Will make it a point to stop in again whenever I travel through.

Best Chinese restaurant in Middle Tennessee. I've driven by this place 100s (if not 1000s) of times over the years and never gave it a second thought. I had my favorite Chinese restaurant and so there wasn't a desire to give another restaurant a chance. Then a friend at work told me about the China Cottage restaurant and went on and on about it. So, I figured, "what the hell..." I'll give it a try. Boy was that the right decision! The food was so far superior to what I was used to with my old favorite Chinese restaurant. The menu contained a nice selection to pick from and the service was fast, friendly and very professional. We went at lunchtime on December 23rd so it was somewhat busy due to the fact that a shopping mall was so close and Christmas was just around the corner. But despite this, we were seated within a couple of minutes from entering and had our drinks within 5 minutes. When it came time to order, I was unable to decide between two favorites, so I did what I always do and ordered both. The General Tso Chicken was very good. I can't say it was the best that I have ever had, but that would be very hard for me to say since I have enjoyed General Tso at 100s of restaurants throughout the US. However... I can say with certainty that the Roasted Pork Lo mein was absolutely the best that I have ever had! I would HIGHLY recommend it should you find yourself here and unable to decide. Now, before anyone assumes that, "Gee, the portions must be pretty small if this guy could order and eat 2 in one sitting..." don't read into it. I'm 6'5" and 240lbs (used to be at 306lbs) and I didn't have breakfast that morning. I don't play when it comes to eating and can put away more than most. The portions served are very generous and 95% of the human race will be full after just one entrée.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Nashville. Family owned and operated, this restaurant is simply wonderful. I like the pepper steak, extra spicy and the pot stickers before the main course. The wait staff is very attentive and I have lunch or dinner there at least once every week. If you want real Chinese, go here. You simply will not be disappointed. Clean as a pin too!
Awesome Food and Service!. What an awesome little Chinese restaurant! Best we've had in the greater Nashville area for sure. Went there last night and ordered General Tso's Chicken and The Triple Delight. Both were amazing. The portion sizes were very generous. They have a fresh flower on every table and they put a beautiful flower-like decoration made of white radish on their dinner plates. The people that work there are so friendly. They care about you having a great experience and it shows! Can't wait to go back!
Pleasantly Suprised. Initially wasn't very excited when my friends wanted to go to China Cottage. So glad I just went with it. Service was excellent - good recommendations and very attentive. Crab Ragoons - oh, a definite must. Shrimp with mei fen noodles - very tasty. Well seasoned throughout - plump jumbo fresh shrimp.
This has ruined me for other Chinese places. I will definitely be back and bring friends!
Refreshing. It was refreshing to learn there was a Chinese restaurant that wasn't a takeout (predominantly) or a buffet.
What was even more refreshing was the food at China Cottage. I had the Beef and Broccoli lunch special. It was served with rice and either soup or eggroll. The food was cooked to order and to my special request.
The most refreshing part was the price/portions. The lunch specials are very affordably priced and the portions are very good.
I don't live close to this restaurant, and I won't make a special trip...I live on the complete opposite side of town...but if I'm in the area and I want good Chinese food, I'll happily go back.
