What a wonderful place. Choose injera (sourdough flat bread) to accompany your meal for the complete experience. Ask questions - we found staff and experienced customers are happy to explain each dish. It's all delicious, so be confident to try something new. Downtown Nashville has many unique options for lunch, and this is one of the best.
I love Ethiopian food. This place check all the boxes. Sponge bread, spicy lentils...it was good.
Original post: Nice veggie plate but it could use more seasoning.
Updated info: for more spice, get the red lentils. I've been back at least 20 times since this photo and have never been disappointed. The meat selections are also good but I just usually prefer veggies. The potatoes are also spicy and very good. The people that run this place are very nice.
Really good Ethiopian food for cheap. The chicken was solid and black beans good. My favorite part though were the red lentils which had a great flavor to them.
It’s a hidden gem that deserves more attention. While there are a few Ethiopian eateries through the city, Ajora Kitchen is a readily accessible place located in the heart of the downtown Arcade. They offer a staple of vegetarian dishes and tibs, alongside with the signature enjira that Ethiopian cuisine is famous for. The food is flavorfully spiced, portions are generous, and the price is a bargain for less than $9 of some delightfully delicious food that most never have the opportunity to try.
Nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Lots of good vegetarian options, friendly staff, and delicious food.
I work downtown, and Ajora is one of my go-to lunch spots. I love it because it's both a healthy option and it fills you up. It's also a fast option because it's a meat and three, or meat or two, or whatever you prefer, so you can walk in and have your food within a minute or two, and the prices are reasonable. I have tried most of the different options and everything is delicious. I also really love the homemade hot sauce they have on the tables. I can't get enough of it. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and comforting. I hope Ajora is here to stay.
Amazing vegetarian options. The red lentils have just the right amount of spicy kick, and the beets and collard greens keep me coming back. Ask for Ethiopian tea (off menu) and you won't be disappointed.
Never had Ethiopian food before. Very good. Hidden gem in the arcade.
This is the place that got me in to Ethiopian food! It's mostly plant-based and everything I had was really, really tasty. It's a diamond in the rough and hidden from the regular Nashville scene, but if you come across this restaurant definitely order there. I recommend the 2-Veggie plate, which comes with rice. I also recommend the Sambusa, which I will seek out a match for in the future. Extremely vegetarian friendly (as I believe most Ethiopian food is) and tasty all the way. Can't wait to come back here next time I'm in Nashville.
Excellent lunch choice for some great Ethiopian food in the Arcade!
One of my favorite lunch places in downtown! Good location for downtown workers inside the Arcade. Ive only tried the vegetarian options, but always like them.
Limited menu of the same prepared food from a hot bar, so you can quickly complete your order, and reasonable prices. The veg platter (4 hot bar items with either bread or rice) is just under $9. Always flavorful and tasty! But it is always the same options.
Because it's in the Arcade and nothing in the Arcade is new, dont expect a bright, shiny, trendy spot. But if you want tasty, flavorful food, this is a go to!
Menu - Flavored yellow rice is always available, as is injera, the fermented Ethiopian flatbread. Green options are cooked collards, cabbage and carrots, green beans and carrots. Also always offered are two kinds of yellow split peas, spicy red lentils (I *think* they are lentils), and potatoes. Sweet beets are also good.
There are additional menu items, including meat items, these are just the ones Ive had and always enjoy!
