Review Asahi Japanese Sushi Bar - Nashville

Melissa Kindma
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely authentic Japanese restaurant in Nashville. It’s locally owned by the sweetest couple who put their heart into their business and truly care about your experience. Not to mention, the food is absolutely amazing – we loved everything we tried. Can’t wait to go back and try more. Highly recommend!!

Always the go to sushi place in West Nashville. Delicious, fresh, well-presented food, polite and friendly staff and reasonable prices! Their rolls, nigiri and salads are all reliably great! I've been there many times and never regretted a single bite!

Great local spot for delicious sushi. Have been coming here for a bit and the food and atmosphere is always solid. Love it!

90% of the food is great! For a buffet, that means a 100% approval rating! Service was better than "satisfactory", which for a buffet is 100%. This place is a A+ choice for dinner on those nights when you could cook, but really just wanna eat & go to bed.

Good rolls for a good price. Service is great. Bar is fun to sit at and watch the chef make the rolls!

I tried this place for the first time and it was absolutely fabulous. I would almost always go to a Japanese restaurant for sushi, but it was lunchtime and I felt more like just a teriyaki combo kind of thing. So, I got the teriyaki salmon, and it was absolutely the best that I’ve had in my life. The miso soup was deeply colored and flavorful, the salad and ginger dressing fresh, and the salmon came out sizzling/steaming and perfectly cooked (the skillet stayed hot the entire meal!). I cannot wait to go back and try the sushi.

I love Asahi! This place is truly a hidden gem. I would honestly say this is the best sushi restaurant in Nashville. The owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I go here at least once a week for take out.

I travel a lot for work and this place is top tier in all the areas! From the fish selection to the staff, to the decor, it does not disappoint and will leave you wanting more.

It has been over a decade since I ate at Asahi, since we moved across town. It just so happens that we moved back, and had a chance to become reacquainted: so glad we did. The staff was super friendly, and the food tasty. This has become our go-to place for comfy family meals.

My husband and son and I went tonight and were so impressed. The sushi was fresh - some of the best I’ve had in a long time. And the service was excellent. Such a friendly place. And clean. We’ll be back.

Sooo delicious and quick service! The miso is carefully flavored and the tofu is fantastic. On a different visit we were able to order grilled tuna collar and it was absolutely succulent!

Tough to find good sushi in Nashville, especially on the west side. But the man behind Asahi has been slinging tasty fish in Belle Meade forever, and it's always very good. I don't think you can get 5 star sushi in Nashville, but this is at the top of the list!

I have been going to Asahi for years! The food is fantastic; truly this is one of my favorite places in Nashville. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, making you feel like you are part of the family as soon as you darken the door. Cannot sing enough praise for Asahi!

This is my go to neighborhood sushi place and has been for years. Consistent and good! The owners are wonderful, and hers never a wait like at the trendy sushi places. I’ve never had a bad meal. I typically order nigiri and it’s always fresh and tasty. If you want good traditional sushi this is the place. Hands down. And some of the best tea ever! Now if you want “sushi” that’s covered in sauces and crunchy things go to a trendy place and wait for a table. I’ve been eating here for many years and just don’t understand the 1 star reviews.

Always the Best. I have been coming to Asahi for more than 14 years. I have easliy spent over $10,000 some years at this place on what I see as the best and safest sushi around. I have eaten sushi from around the world, literally. And have always compared it to Asahi. I have even been known to travel over 1000 miles to get sushi made from Luke himself, who has been running this place and making the sushi personally for decades. It is the best. Maybe not the flashiest but simple the best, as it is supposed to be made. Simple and yummy! When you go, try my roll on the menu, "The Phil Roll". It was invented by me and Luke many years ago. You'll love it! And you'll love this place. Just keep in mind that you need to allow some time to dine here, or call it in, because every sushi order is done by Luke himself, by hand the old fashioned way. Thats what keeps us all coming back year after year.

Great little place. First time today for my wife and I. Sushi was great as was the service. Will most likely be back!

This is one place that's worth the wait. The most recent time we ordered takeout, we decided we would never come back before we even got our food because it was taking so long. When we finally arrived home with out sushi- we were so wrong. It was some of the freshest sushi we have ever had in nashville. We will be back soon!

Awsome!!!. Such a small place, yet HUGE Flavor!!! I loved my visit there since they hadExcellent line up of maki rolls!!! I'm a huge fan of sushi, especially, spicy rolls. This restaurant has amazing spicy rolls, such as Spicy tuna/yellow tail, Spicy scallop, Wasabi roll, and my favorite, Volcano rolls !!! Sushi chef (Luke?) was so nice and the waiter guy was so kind and friendly. Highly Recommended.

Bad sushi!. My girlfriend and I went here and it was terrible. The place wasn't crowded - there were only 2 other tables - but the service was *extremely* slow and the waiter was unpleasant. We sat there forever waiting for our check and once we finally got it, we still had to wait ages to get our change.

The sushi itself was overpriced and the worst I've ever had, and I'm a big sushi fan (I've been to all types of places - the restaurant doesn't have to be high-end to have good sushi). The rice tasted old and stale, and the fish was tough, chewy and bland. I will never come back to Asahi again and you should stay away!

Quaint. This is a nice little local sushi restaurant. It's never crowded and the staff is very friendly. The sushi is pretty fresh. Reminds me of the sushi restaurants in Cambridge, MA.

Great little sushi place.. This is a great hole in the wall find for sushi out in Belle Meade. The sushi is excellent, though the prices are steep. On the upside, any 1 order of nigri comes as 2 pieces. Their Scallop nigiri there is amazing.
